I have had some christians try to be kind, like when someone says to me that I’m “no worse than a thief or liar,” and I know they mean well, but they’re saying is that my sexuality is a sin. It sucks, because I miss church sometimes!

This is not only funny… it’s inspiring and thoughtful and it’s good for my “godd@mned” soul. I have let a few people who disagree with the way I was born get in my head recently. And I needed to see this. Whenever I’m struggling, I listen to Fortune’s stand up about coming out to her parents and Kate McKinnon’s speech presenting Ellen with an award honoring Carol Burnett. Will now be adding this to my “don’t let the bigots get you down” playlist! ❤

The first name of Fortune intrigues me. We were coming out of 31 Flavors one afternoon. There was a woman standing next to a rust-bucket of an old Packard, and my mother greeted her, "Hell-o Wealthy!" I thought this was my mother's attempt at sarcasm. It turned out it was an old friend of hers whose actual first name was Wealthy.
