Forza horizon 5 is fun but is by far the buggiest AAA game i’ve ever bought or played. I’ve been completely unable to even play the game for 2 weeks now because of a bug
Really? I started kind of late, just hit 80 today, but I’ve found very few bugs. The one that’s pissing me off the most is my game will crash within 5 minutes every time I try to drive my RS200. Why only that car?!?
Man, I'm so glad my favorite car channel took a deep dive into my favorite game franchise. The first forza game I played was motorsport 2, but the first forza game I loved was Horizon, and the horizon series is still top 5 in my games list.
When I heard horizon 5 was getting set in Mexico, I was legit surprised and excited. When they said they had a desert area, I was even more stoked because my family is from Chihuahua. Then I came to find out they got the neighboring Sonora desert. Not as stoked. Then the gameplay dropped, and a bit of dialogue said copper canyon. My parents had their honeymoon there. Needless to say, there's a personal connection

honestly forza horizon 4 is what made me a gammer again i always grew up playing video games but i became a car guy at 15 and never looked back till my friend hooked me up on forza horizon 4 ever since ive been in love with the game even got my 4yr old nephew into it and hes obsessed himself everytime he comes over he wants to play the game its honestly an amazing game on an amazing platform anyone can enjoy i love to see my nephews smile whenever hes on the game even to the point i got him his own so he can play at home mad respect to xbox and forza for connecting so many people to the car sene love u guys for it
Dan Greenawalt & Turn 10 had many, many, MANY meetings with manufactures about collision modeling. The companies felt it might show their brand in a negative light, naturally. IIRC They came to these companies as car lovers, first and foremost and made it clear they weren’t just trying to smash the cars up purely for silly video game reasons. They really helped the manufactures see the big picture; that there were a lot of potential fans and potential customers if they were willing to play ball. Kudos to them!
I collect videogames/consoles and I suddenly lost attraction to new games I just stick with old games, ps1 and stuff but I just bought a Xbox a month ago and downloaded a couple of games but maaaan, I just can't stop playing Forza, the fun factor of this game is unreal, I seriously recommend it, it's a whole new level in games in general and mainly Driving games.
Gran tourismo was where my passion for cars began and i still love it, but when i was introduced to forza i fell in love with the physics and car sounds and ive been on xbox ever since
I feel like saying "I learned a good bit about cars playing a video game " is a testament to how detailed these games are. Also it seems to carry less skepticism from people.
Cruisn USA was my first racing video game on the n64 to which I still own today and it works. I didnt get a ps1 till a few years back when my friend gifted me one. I jumped from a n64 to a ps2 and Midnight Club, Need For Speed was my go to over Grand Turismo.
Been playing since forza on the og xbox, but really a harccore fan since motorsport 3 and I gotta say nothing really compares. There's never been a moment when I'm playing any of the games and say to myself, I wish it had x, y, or z
Its Come Full Circle! I watched The B2B of The 'Million Dollar Scirocco' when it came out a Few Years Ago, and Got inspired To Recreate It In Forza Horizon 4, just a Day After I Uploaded It to my Instagram , james Actually Commented On it! Now Im Watching An Up to Speed On Forza, a series ive been playing since forza Horizon 2. Great job as Always!
Nice job as always! 😎 would’ve love to hear more about how they re create the Fuji Mountain in Forza Motorsport 3, any chances that you’ll talk about it? 😅
you shoulda saw my enzo. I spent hours recreating the look of woven carbon fiber to painstakingly plaster all over the enzo, and then I added red and blue accents, and the thing was beautiful.
An extremely overlooked ps1 racing game with really detailed internal customization and some cool exterior cosmetics is Racing Lagoon. It was a Japanese only game and essentially is an rpg mashed up with a racing game including enemy encounter street races that drop upgrades for your car and a full on story with sidestories. There's an English translation released for emulators and it's a real fun game.
I know this is about forza but I still have the og Playstation and the og gran turismo. Its actually still fun to play if you get passed the headache inducing pixelation that happens on newer tvs because it was never made for them lol
I remember playing Forza 1 back in the day on the OG Xbox when i was in 6th grade. Racing my clapped out Evo against my brothers clapped out Dodge Stealth. It was lit.
I remember when I first played Forza and knew straight away it knocked GT off its podium, and it's continued to do it ever since! The Jeffery Epstein quip was great too 👍🏻😂
@@joshjlmgproductions3313 everyone has their opinions, I still think it beat GT in every addition that came out since the first.. That was my comparison, not the quality of each Forza game 🤷🏻♂️
Horizon and F4 are still my favorites. The older affiliation systems and the sense of purpose that Horizon gave were excellent, and your progress wasn't tainted by the new games' design ideology of random draws and having half the gallery greyed out with cars you don't have or can't get yet when you start.
FM one was amazing... Never will forget the toghest fights I got while finishing every race on the hardest difficulty settings... It gave you chills. I turned on ABS though ;)
I've played Forza since 2008 on the Original Xbox 360 and let me say this, it's one of (if not the best) franchises to have come out from Microsoft in nearly 20 years. I started out with Forza Motorsport 2, then 3, 4, and played 5 online. I also have completed Forza Horizon 1 and nearly completed Forza Horizon 2 (five roads undriven).
I didn't get a 360 until 2012 so i would always look forward to going to the store to play the forza horizon demo. I swear it was the most realistic game I'd ever seen and it would blow my mind every time i played it. I wasn't even into cars yet but that game had me hooked. One of the first games i got for my 360 was forza and i was not disappointed after waiting all that time.
Other stuff that helped: Forza has more soul, better sound especially for V6s and V8s, and much less grind. You could actually get supercars or purpose built race cars without having to sink 400 hours into it.
Imagine being one of the dudes sent to hunt down the baby Jesus and they get out of the barn and into a rally-spec Miata sending up baby rooster tails through the desert. The three wise men throwing donuts in Miata #2, what an image 😂
I started with the OG GT and have now moved on to Forza. I found it better than GT for playing and how the cars feel. Also a big thing was they keep updating with new games and don't take years and years like GT. They also do all the interiors for driving unlike GT at the time.
I like fh3 much much more than fh5, but for me forza horizon and forza Motorsport is absolutely the most important racing franchise because I get into cars because of it. But forza has passed it’s best years😢
Without Forza Horizon and Driven to Destruction I would never have gotten into car games. I still boot up these games just to drive around and try stuff out. Also my driving is terrible in real life so at least I can wrap a dodge around a tree without getting a huge bill and hospital visit
Sony always said that the car manufacturers would not allow them to deform the car models for crash damage. As soon as Forza released, we all found out that was a lie.
The only thing I don’t like about the Forza games are the car customizations I can’t put a wide body kit on some cars that’s when the Need for speed series come into play
"Maybe they couldn't afford to crash all these cars in real life, to get the real physics data..." :'). James made GT think about their existence for once.
Forza motorsport 3 was the first game I played, with Forza horizon 5 just coming out I wanna buy another xbox because I'm stuck with a PlayStation at the moment
Need for speed high stakes kinda did all this stuff before GT and Forza. I could be slightly wrong. But need for speed is not even close to capitalizing the same way that these two franchises are at the moment. EA probably keeps it locked in a cage.
As a series-long fan of the Forza series, it's sad to see how poorly the devs treat the fanbase - especially for Horizon 5 with many bugs and issues not being resolved while unimportant tweaks and stupid changes continually get rolled out every patch. Just take a look at the official forums...
I remember the car club I was in the OG Forza....racing was all legit, turn bumping-kicked out...overly aggressive-kicked out....stupid talk-kicked out. But when the race was done we would line up in the order that we placed at the finish line and wait for the last guy so we could all get credits. Good times
I've never owned a PlayStation but I'm glad Gran Turismo is back. As good as forza is, without Gran Turismo they have nothing to compete with and have been stagnating for years
I'm curious what was cut from the original draft of this episode. I was expecting more details on each iteration and what changes came with it. Like fm3 rewind feature and top gear influences. Fh1 didn't have as much freedom offroad or things you can crash into as mentioned in the video. Lots of invisible walls. Wasn't till fh2 where there was a little more freedom and destructible items, then fh3 really embraced that and took it further. Omitted the hot wheels expansion to fh3, that was amazing. Lego expansion was fun on fh4. Kinds wished this episode was a little longer. 😢 Still enjoyed seeing Forza get some ❤️
@@Stumbler69513 I feel like it was necessary to establish the starting point for the first forza motorsport. But overall more time could've been spent talking about how the game evolved over time. Just add another 2-5 mins to the video. Just seemed rushed to me.
I remember how disappointed we all were when we got more details on FM2. Fewer cars (more duplicates!), fewer tracks, fewer game modes. No PTP! FM3 was light years ahead of 2, and FM4 just perfected it. Gosh, it’s been a long ride haha
I hate how I try to give space to an AI drivatar in the game as I overtake on the outside of a corner or even on a straight only for it to try and randomly ram me. Thank you AI systems
They also match you up with drivatars of people who drive like you. If you ram into others a lot, you get drivatars who ram into you. Or so the legend goes
@@justastudent1423 I drive Touge rules and hate contact, so I will adamantly and feverently deny that I'm paired with drivatars of similar style, considering any pass is met with an attempted pit maneuver in Horizon 5
Forza has been a favorite since I first played the og Horizon. From then on I have always considered a game that was safe to pre order lol. More importantly though this game has a things I love, just driving around the world to me is entertaining as all hell as the environment feels so real yet simultaneously doesn’t. So long as car enthusiasts and gamers who like going 250 mph down the road exist Forza will continue to go down in history as The Game The Myth The Legend
No just fucking no don’t fucking preorder Forza, they don’t give a shit about online connectivity working, there’s metric fuck tons of bugs and they won’t even let you play with friends when that was the only reason you pre ordered, on top of losing over 10 hours of progress and doing nothing about it. Do fucking not pre order games these days, they’re all broken ass paid beta trials
@@hunterc1805 I’ve never had a problem with these titles, not on my end anyways. Sure a few glitches here and there but none that have left me unable to use the game mechanics
@@tevlargaming5440 Forza 5 was super rough on launch with bugs, exploiters having 1000 lvls day one, the game could literally play itself. And I believe keeping people playing has been problem with this title. I'm also someone who love Forza, completely got me into cars. I just hope we get a motorsport next.
Don't let your kids play those old gaming systems. My 7year old son pulled out the memory card with GT, GT2, GT3, GT4 saves while saving, and erased them all. I had all the indy/f1 cars etc; I worked for EONS to get in those endurance races. GONE in one second.
I’ve owned every forza and I’ve been playing since it came out when i was 3 in 2005. It has taught me so much about cars and gave me the chance to “drive” long before i had my license. I’ll always love forza and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.
Same, I "bought" the first one for my dad for his birthday and we always played together. Love the Forza series, needs more specific engine sounds though(always been a complaint of mine)
Horizon 5 is the first racing game I picked up after NFS pro street. It's nice to just casually drive and chill, don't have to worry about races or staying on the road, good relaxing break from playing fps games or grinding in MMOs
I thought this would never happen!!! Thank you so much Donut Media The Forza franchise is just absolutely amazing. Also more than glad one of the best game series is back in development TDU gang where you @? Donut plz do an Up To Speed on the real OG’s Midnight Club and TDU!!
lmao, 3 years ago they even had a guy who straight up said all Forza games were sh!t and he and all of donut agreed Gran Turismo was the true simulator series. I grew up playing GT3 a-spec and GT4, didnt even a touch a Forza game till the 4th one and i was like; _"lmao,. bit extreme of a take but okay."_ Neither Gran Turismo nor Forza are simulators, they are just nice balances between arcade and actual driving sims.
Forza Motorsport 4 was a lot of fun. I loved beating supercars in a super modded muscle car that I got all the mods for free because of the brand allegiance system.
Fun fact: I once held the no. 34 spot in the world on Maple Valley full course for B-Class in my Mugen Integra back in the day. I cannot even imagine the amount of hours I burned my eyes out staring at the screen clipping hot laps. I am not even in the same universe of competition these days lol.
It was probably around the time FM4 was out right? I held the record for fastest quarter in the Dodge Dart Prostock until a former friend decided to leak my exact tune.I held that record for almost a year too.Oh and the competition is completely rigged for the cheaters/exploiters and has been that way since they started logging in game records in horizon.....
Stuff like that doesn't matter anymore Playground made sure.of that allowing exploiters and glitchers to post to times that are still up all. This time later They just don't care about horizon anymore
I remember making top 3% in the world on FM4 hot lapping a custom tuned '69 z28 Camaro, just ahead of some kind of Porsche on the leaderboard. I quit playing Forza when they dumbed down the tuning for Horizon.
Can’t forget the moments when I just got the XB1 and played FM5 split screen with my dad for hours, now I’m playing FH5 with all my friends doing Goliath races and city camouflage
Are you me? I played 3-5 with my dad for hours at a time. Wasn’t really into cars at the time tbh but it was still fun. I think the combination of that game and my dad’s history as a gear head planted the seed for the love of cars I have now.
11:23 This was the best line I've heard in the last few months. Keep it up Donut "I guarantee that if you walked into a college dorm in 2006, someone was in the process of losing Maple Valley Raceway to an 11 year old in Japan."
I think I mentioned something on the Forza forums back in the day that a Test Drive Unlimited style of Forza game would be a great next step. I just wish they would combine it with regular Forza now so you can still visit all the real racetracks because I usually prefer to race there anyway.
How would your combine it? Horizon is set in a somewhat factitious setting. If your want to race on a track, then just load up Motorsport, and fee driving, load up horizon. No need to combine
@@richardstoffel6585 horizons has a more arcade play style that attracts people they aren't really good drivers and struggle on tracks. The next motorsport will make the difference even bigger as they want to make it a bit more sim
