It's amazing how the ladies instantly become moms. When one of them reached out to just pat and comfort Quazi's little head - it just melted my heart! Great Job, folks! I wish we had the same kind of programs for the Macaques in Asia - mostly Vietnam and Cambodia. The infants get poached and horribly abused and it just breaks my heart.

It's just incredible to see the transformation time and time again. It never gets old. The babies go from terrified to being 100% secure with their new Mums in less than 24 hours. It's just incredible, and I am just in awe about this program. I know I say this time and time again, but you all are truly doing God's work. Thank you for including us in your journey.

It was so sweet to see Cosimo fall asleep with his new Mom, it was just the perfect kind of hug after a long, stressful day....and then with Chaim (around 45:06-45:12) it looks like Cosimo hops out of the feeding cage, gets the Moms, and then brings them over to Chaim (at the feeding cage) as if he is telling him "Mom's, this is Chaim....Chaim meet our Moms!".....so sweet!❤️🐵❤️

It's amazing what the baby monkeys' first reaction to an adult monkey - a foster mother - is like. They fear them at first and scream... But the mother monkeys are so clever and wise and show a lot of patience - some of them were orphans themselves. How your team accompanies this introduction of the babies to their foster mothers is wonderful! THANK YOU for your patience and care in this process as well!

Only good reviews should come across your feeds.❤the way you treat them all. They are quite entertaining and fill our hearts with love. When you watch the other shows where the monkeys are clothed, you want one for yourself. But after viewing several shows and doing research, my mind has changed. Keep repeating, "Monkeys are NOT PET MATERIAL !" HOWEVER, watching your programs is the best entertainment around. I do love them. Thank you so very much!

These videos are SO refreshing from those baby monkey in diapers animal abuse videos. Baby monkeys actually allowed to be baby monkeys! Cute baby faces, playing, eating, finding a new mom. No diapers or clothes, no dress up baby dolls, just baby monkeys. I do have to admit, that little freak out where they fell off the feeding cage when they saw a mom in the enclosure with them was so funny. Glad they found their foster moms.

These monkeys come to you all from places of unimaginable trauma, and it is heartbreaking to know that. But all that goes away when you witness the little critters bouncing around like, well, little monkeys 😁 in what seems to be to be a miracle amount of time. They don't feel good when they get there. But they tolerate the things you all do to them because they know they are being helped and healed. I know it is difficult for those of you who work closely with the babies, it's so easy to get attached, but you always think of the good of the monkeys, not your own feelings for them on a personal and protective level. It is a joyful moment to see an adoptive mom monkey go in and work her magic. These monkeys I'm sure, know this place is good, but they really can't know how lucky they are. I love you all. The world is a better place with each one if you in it. 🥰

Hey after I sort my life out, I'm going through a really rough moment in my life at this moment with a dependency on pain medication that's gone bad and I will be dealing with it shortly with medication and support to get clean and when I have gotten clean Is it possible for me apply to come and support this foundation by work for you even if its volunteering or whatever, I love Monkeys of all species and other animals like Dogs, I tend to like animals a lot more than humans due to my terrible experience gowning up and I really want to work with Monkeys since they are very much like humans but more pure and nice, They only want a few basic things from us Love, Friendship, Care, Support, Food and Fun and maybe a few more things, I really would love to come and help these poor little monkeys recover from the trauma they have experienced and for sure cuddle with them, It would also help me like having a therapy, I was abused, beaten and tortured as a child sorry about the info but I might as well say it so for the Monkeys that have gone through something like that I really do feel like I need to help them, I'm from the UK so I would need to fly over, Are you able to accept people from the UK to work or volunteer for like 3-6 months maybe less at a time?

A lot of substance, science and primate bonds of evolution. Enthralling. Here we all are folks. Wow , these monkeys develop so fast once ressurected and stabilized.. Once confronted with a lost or injured monkey, It's clear instantly why one must do this type of work. Non-verbal communication with the translation of some of the whistles, grunts, facial expressions, and tantrums.. Great documentation of the work involved . Start watching these vids anywhere in the sequence after a while, one pieces together just how complex this work is and how much it depends on people who can instinctively do it.Whereever they may come from.

These volunteers are very kind to tend these monkeys. It appears the people who live in these countries do not find much about them to be appealing. They make videos of being so rough and cruel in their treatment of them. I've heard that they smell and that the more stressed comfort themselves in a somewhat repulsive way. The countries who have these monkey's should be more kind and animal cruelty laws should be implemented against these video makers. IMO

Dave, you’ve talked about the importance of having the babies integrated into the right troop but “who” is it that ultimately decides which troop the babies go to? Is there someone who has the responsibility of observing each monkey to make that decision or do you just depend on the caregivers to make that judgment? I’m intrigued at how precise you are about who goes where. I would think that someone needs to really understand their personality (or their behavior is probably the better word!)🤗

There are feeding cages attached to the enclosure fences for milk which the babies need for several months. All the monkeys get solid food thrown over the fences to supplement their forage. In the wild they would move on once they’d depleted the food from their current location.

@ June Sanabria. The Vervet Monkey Foundation is licensed by the South African Government as a non-breeding sanctuary keeping no more than 600 monkeys. Left to themselves 600 monkeys would soon be 1000 monkeys so every little male monkey fostered into the troops is hauled in again for a vasectomy at the age of around two and a half years. Not castration because the males need their hormones intact so they continue to behave like males in the troop social environment. Though I don't know (being only a keen viewer) I suppose that a vasectomy for males is less invasive than any sterilization procedure for females. As I understand it from older videos, there have been very rare pregnancies among the enclosed troop females. Inventive outside male Bandits and troop females sometimes succeed in mating through the fence or a desperate troop female will climb over the electrified fence to meet a Bandit boyfriend. Dave and his management team dream of one day making a Vervet Forest a reality. Several thousand acres of natural forest where they could release troop units into a state of true freedom where they could gradually interbreed with wild fertile males and young males could leave their birth troops to find their way into another troop as they do naturally. All that's needed is a generous benefactor with a few million dollars to spare for land purchase and infrastructure. I think that Dave would be the first to say that managing a number of captive troops as non-breeding entities is not ideal. But the VMF gives the troop members as close to a natural life as possible with the HUGE benefit of a constant supply of childless potential foster mothers eager to adopt the orphan babies that come to the Foundation. There would be a lot fewer orphans if the Vervet People didn't come into collision with the Human People with their roads, cars, powerlines, dogs and firearms. Without the VMF orphans would either die or endure a miserable and short existence as "pets". I really hope that I have given correct information because as I said, I'm only an interested viewer.

Hi🙋🏻‍♀️why there are so many orphand babies?
@r.sanders8448
@r.sanders8448 2 года назад
Many different reasons and variables happen every "baby" season in order for so many orphans to end up here at this Foundation. Their original mom is usually killed either in some highway/road accident or killed by dogs/hunters/farmers, etc... or the baby is found all alone somewhere whether it was "abandoned" by it's mother for whatever reason or just simply left behind by it's mother & natal troop because they were scared out of the area suddenly by whatever it was that made them all move so quickly that a baby ended up being left behind. And then, of course...are also the many babies that were literally poached and stolen from their mother and natal troop as newborn infants by despicable POS humans that very selfishly (and very ignorantly) wanted one for a "pet" for only just a little while.... but *ONLY* for as long as they still remain tiny little "adorably cuuute & fun" newborn infants... and then once they eventually grow up a bit and aren't so very easily managed and controlled any longer, they suddenly decide that having a larger much more messy and more independent baby monkey for a "pet" ... isn't as easy or as much "fun" any more so they then decide to take it to one of these refuge centers to drop it off/dump it and then claim they "found" it all alone/by it's dead mother's body somewhere (even though it's very obvious to anyone that a particular baby monkey kept as a "pet" like this *HAS* already been around humans for quite some time in order for it to already be well use to them because it is *NOT* shrieking it's tiny little head off when a human comes anywhere near it and it wants to be held/petted/cuddled quite a lot rìght away and it is obviously also already well use to drinking from a bottle for quite some time, too...which a newly "found" wild baby primate would *NEVER* be able to do right away as soon as it was "found" by anyone until it had time to actually learn *HOW* to properly suckle from a bottle).

Shouldn't you let the moms do the lip-smacking once you've handed the babies over to them?
@VervetMonkey

in this case it was done to calm both of them down - in a troop its not only the mom that does it but also the females around the mom to show good intention

I lip-smacked as in this particular instance Cosimo had suffered extreme trauma and wouldn't stop pacing and was v stressed, the mums couldn't get close enough to calm him. By the additional reassurance he had his first hug by his foster mum and was much calmer. But yes usually the monkey mums do. Cosimo is a special case.

You should make sure the person at the door controls is strong enough and knowledgeable. Otherwise the 27:48 moms are afraid and confused and decide not to come in

some where shot, some died in motor vehicle accidents, some where eaten as food - now they need to get foster moms and as foster moms cant feed them as they dont produce milk we need to ensure they able to then we can give them to foster monkey moms, if you just watched the videos a bit you might actually understand whats going on

Yes the born from October to December maybe January, this is holiday season in South Africa which results in more cars on the roads mothers are slower when caring babies and motorists dont care enough to slow down, people also hunt and its cheap to shoot monkeys but hard to shoot babies, the channel has lots of info and each rescue shows the person or us getting it from a person
