A quality Zenith radio that is difficult to work on.
The dense packing of components make repair difficult.
I burned myself with the soldering iron replacing one capacitor. And possibly damaged another capacitor by burning it too.
Also alignment is difficult unless you are willing to drill holes in the chassis.

I just fixed my deceased dad’s Royal 2000. It had the same low, low volume intermittently. Some times it was just dead quite. I jumped out the same capacitor by disconnecting the tap connection on the volume pot and then ran wires using micro hooks to put in a 6 uF electrolytic as a replacement in the circuit. It’s working good now. I will do a real repair this week and check out the rest of the radio. Thank you so much for documenting your FA. 4 years later, it is still helping us out. I am so happy to have my Dad’s radio 📻 back!

Actually I need to redo the dial string, its slipping a bit and I think I missed a turn of cord somewhere. Plus the radio isn't working too well now, follow up video needed,.someday when I have the time.

I just bought one of these. Dials worked at the pawn shop but now the next day they don't work. It would be great to see a video some day of that. Thank you

I used to have one of those ten bucks at the flea market, (20 years ago), a very sensitive radio. Shouldn't have let it go. A great find.

Nice little radio man. I love the way he cut the labels so they point precisely.

Yeah, the dial cord restringing is a b!tch, I would need to censor myself for all the cursing I've done while fussing with the cord, springs, etc. Best that you didn't show any of that. If you need to restring, there are some Beitmans manuals with schematics on worldradiohistory.com, used to be americanradiohistory.com. Lots of books etc. I could spend hours looking at all the old magazines like Popular Electronics. Thanks for the great video.

Great video. Do the knobs just pull right off? I will have to fix the string on tuners some day. It really is a heavy radio
