This is the video that I’ve been waiting for. Some parts of my house foundation need this repair. The parging has come off in some places. And in other places the backfill has settled, and the bare concrete foundation wall has been exposed. As soon as the warm weather arrives I’m doing this. Thanks Mike.

Mike, today I went over to a friend’s old house where I repaired the stone foundation “Mike Style” last year and it’s holding up great. I paint every patch job with Portland and it really works. I even showed my young friend how I learned how to do it from your videos and now he’s doing more repairs on his own. One difference between the use of regular Portland mixes and the fast dry compounds is the shrink cracking & checking issue. Those newer products seem to shrink a lot less. I've tried to use them for surface areas. Thank you Mike.

Old school bonding allows you to instantly apply mortar or topping-------terrific! The chemical bonding agent causes the Mason to wait.

Nice...no elmer's glue either! Water only! Maybe sometime you could explain why the water bonds the two coats. You know...with the crystals growing and all. Can't wait till we have green grass like that again. This winter was rough.

Hi Mike, Awesome video I enjoyed watching. I poured a gas fire pit at my house and it was smooth Concrete but I wanted texture. I made a paste like your stucco mix but used a 3/8 map roller. I'm thinking you could use a smaller one 4" on that. I just put it on heavy on roller and rolled it on, looks great. Have you ever done it like that before?

Mike, Could you use a stucco base coat mix for the first layer? I am wanting to refinish my block foundation that had been stucco' d over. I tried to remove the old stucco with a roto hammer, but couldn't get it all off. I love your videos. Keep up the great work. Thanks, Nick

Love your videos Mike, learned so much…I just had a small garage built with concrete blocks as a foundation. I want to cover the blocks with stone veneer, do i use the same mix, one scratch coat, on the blocks first before I add the stones?

So Portland cement is what you used to make a soupy bonding agent and the masonry s type mortar is what you uses along with the Portland mixed to fill the major gaps?

I think at 4:06 it should be one part masonry sand 1/2 part mortar and 1/2 part Portland cement

Hello sir, do you have any videos on stucco repair? I recently got horizontal, hairline cracks around my six year old house. Would you say this is common? Normal? Thanks!

Great video mike. Quick question if a water leak is coming in, would you recommend taking off all the concrete/mortar on the inside on a foundation? I have a sand/stone foundation and it seems in the 80s or so they parged it with Portland cement and portland white paint. Only problem is the wall won't breathe with that covering. Removed a whole wall of parging but today noticed a smaller leak near the floor. Started removing the stuff like a dentist but most of it is staying, even though the wall is damp behind. Getting some gutter repairs and digging a french drain to stop it from coming as much.

Excellent job, Mike. Were you able to cover that wooden beam with the concrete mix? Seems like it would have trouble sticking.

You ever consider changing it up Mike? Aside from just repeating to "use the bonding cement paint to make it stick" to alternating volume as well? Whisper it, yell it, whisper, yell. I think it would make it very memorable.

Are there any adhesives for concrete that impress you, years ago at my nanas house guys went over her tile roof with what they call pointing mix i think the premade bucket said , some of it fell down onto concrete drains while they were working on the roof, man that stuff stuck on hard you cannot remove it, so im thinking it has an adhesive in it.

at @4:04 there 2 parts to 1/4+1/4 which is 2 parts to 1/2 part which is 4 to 1. I think you meant to write 2 parts sand to 1/2 S +1/2 Portland which is 2 to 1 , sand to cement.

Mike, I thought the difference between mortar and cement was the sand. This video shows the product as type S cement but you say mortar. I am so confused! My area only has type S mortar ( with sand) so what is the recipe with that product? Thanks
