They should have just optimized CS1 so we could have bigger maps, worked on asset scale and added mods into the game like they did with road tools in CS2. Other than that they just threw away 8 years of work improving vanilla CS1.
@@westside213 the problem with that is that they needed to migrate to a new engine anyway because the CS1 engine is ancient and already past it's limits, so it would have obviously been more profitable for them to release a brand new game and make people pay for it again than migrate the game to a newer engine and don't cash in on it.
@@Saurion1 the community has proven very willing to pay for DLCs so I think we would have paid the cost of the necessary upgrade. (The playerbase is a lot different than Call of Duty's.) We're both just speculating what would be involved with upgrading to a new engine, whether they could have made the already existing mods and assets compatible, etc. Obviously they chose to go in a completely new direction and so far I'm not super impressed with it. I think the community was clearly asking for better built in tools based on successful mod tools and bigger maps to build true megalopolises/urban sprawl. Instead they gave us maps that will never be as big as 81 tiles and tried to turn the game half way into the Sims.
@@westside213 Sure the community was willing to pay for DLCs but are also willing to pay for a brand new game and all the DLCs all over again. This way they can milk more money out of the playerbase. Don't be surprised when they re-release mass transit, sunset harbor, industies and all the same DLCs all over again, probably with slightly different names. I'm also completely unimpressed with this game so far, everything except the new road tools looks pretty much the same as CS1 or worse.
Thank you for the subtitles. I've been seeing nearly all the early access videos and yours has been my favourite alongside CPP's. Cant wait to see more of Palmsland
It's the first time I have seen you playing "basic" Cities Skylines and I'm wondering if you will continue with this city after this video. Will you grow this city into a Metropolis? Can't wait to see what you will make of this!
You absolutely aced it! The city layout is so good and organised. I love it! If that’s how you’re playing the first time, I can’t wait to see what comes next!
i bet you are itching to use move it and find it :D. anyway CS2 roadbuilding and the graphics looks promising! but for myself, i afraid it will be hard to move to "vanilla" game, while CS1 with load of mods still very enjoyable.
The game looks good, but I'm gonna wait until they shake out the inevitable bugs. Also, I've heard that there is no built-in Prop Line Tool; if that's true its a big miss by Paradox. :(
Loved your city but dam, why do so many content creators keep putting the industrial area on the water? That just seems so wrong to me. LOL. Joking of course. I wish I could make a city half as nice as yours.
god damn this game looks rough as hell. textures worse than ps1 games, no antialiasing and shadows jittering all over the place. was looking forward to this but oof man, visually it’s not going to win any awards…
