I’ll get this and call the manufacturer if the set doesnt match. For those who think the base game is too hard, I agree. The lose rate is WAY too high. But its very easy to adjust this; just start with more food or bullets or health. I basically double the health for each character; start with 6 (and I use a D6 to track health, much easier vs fiddling with little health tokens). If I find that is too easy, I’ll start with 5 but so far I find 6 just right. Win rate is up and it never gets boring because the amount of cards changes the gameplay each time, and I’m also tracking my solo score each time which I think is really cool. If this didnt have solo and a scoring mechanism, I’d probably not play it. But it does, difficulty is easy to adjust, and it has scoring! Great game. Fyi if you think this game is hard, try Friday. I’ve never beat that game but its difficult is easy to adjust ( i just reload health after each pass thru the jungle ). Make it easier AND it also has a scoring mechnism that keeps replayability up there (i’m always trying to beat my old score).
Hey Zee... Always appreciate your reviews...Just got the complete set ... base game & expansion.. no problem with card size.... must have been a pre production set you got... they are all made 80x120 to fit sleeves... and btw they all fit in the box sleeved with expansions & instructions.. (just barely) please keep giving awesome reviews....
I've got the expansion and love it. Yeah, the colour is slightly different, but it doesn't affect solo play. As for the size - my cards are so close in size it's not noticeable, certainly not as big a discrepancy as seen in this video.
I'm so glad that I ordered the expansion before I watched this review. The difference between the cards is no issue at all. We had great fun and 3 out of 4 players didn't notice the difference at all.
Good that I first sleeved the cards of the base game and the expansion,, put them all in the base game box and only afterwards learned that this is absolutely not possible to do. 😉 Seriously, it works! You just have to leave out the plastic insert for that. I also put a paper band around the cards of the expansions, and got myself some acrylic boxes for the tokens. Now it all looks very neat. Same as the others, I did not notice any differences in the two sets. Maybe Zee just got a bad print...
Just discovered this game (thanks to stumbling to your earlier review of the base game) after ignoring it for years. Was able to buy the expansion, and just waiting for the base game i ordered online. Sleeved the expansion and used 80x120mm - fits perfectly
Just picked this up a few days ago from the Book Depository in the UK with free shipping to my house in the US all for $11. Can't wait to check it out. Great review as always, Zee.
Well, I enjoy the base game so much I had preordered the expansion so there is no going back in this one! Hopefully Osprey games, who really seems to be on the up and up, will find a way to make things right with customers who purchased this version (like Renegade with their Arboretum mistake). Stil, it seems like Zee enjoyed the expansion and would recommend it if not for that aesthetics issue.
Good review. I really enjoy Lost Expeditions and was looking forward to this one. Sad about the cards. I am just wondering if the cards screwups are a fluke. Like he accidentally got a preproduction copy. I am sure he would've said if he had. If not then that was a terrible goof on Osprey Games's part.
I have the original game without the expansion and I can confirm the cards do fit in the box without the insert, and with thin Dixit Mayday sleeves for it.
I got this for $10 with free shipping off Book Depository. I'll use the new characters and new map, but I'm hesitant on the other 2 modulars due the card mismatch. I don't mind the color difference but the size difference is disappointing. Thanks for the great review Zee!
Sigh. The cardinal sin for expansions: mismatched components. And in this case is a double issue: card size and different colors. I was all excited about this one as the rules went on, but now there is no way. I am a sleeve too. Ugh.

Wow, what oversights! I can't believe they didn't think to compare proofs with the base game. Hopefully the inconsistencies are corrected in future pressings (if there are any).

I had the same issue with the cards being different in the Mist fall expansions, it practically broke the game for me, I can't combine the two sets together
Great review! I was really stoked for this expansion, but the card sizes give me pause. You're one of the only reviews I've seen so far to mention it, so I'm probably going to read a couple more before I buy it just to see if it was a fluke or if this is an actual thing.

Such a shame. I had this high on my purchase list for one of the next conventions. Immediately skipped it because of the card issue. I really hope they will come up with a 2nd printing. Otherwise I will just keep the base game.
Can't understand how companies can change the card material for their expansions. really awful. Had that issue with the last Mysterium expansion. Original cards are linen finished, the news are shiny.
