Four Decent Friends ABHOR Fallout: The Frontier - Chapter 4 - Part 2 

When a dude's Arachnophobia has better story telling than the writers of this mod.

Skitters is the only good character in this mod.

And so the Courier, dug up from his grave in Goodsprings, traveled to Portland with the Exiles, escaping the political tensions the Mojave Wasteland would later thrust upon him during his adventures to acquire the Platinum Chip stolen from him by Benny. With great courage, he fought off the Enclave on the Archimedes II space station, losing many companions along the way. When given the option at the very end, he activated the self-destruction protocols so that no man or monster could ever have access to the Enclave technology and experiments held within the bowels of the station. With great triumph, he struck a crushing blow against the North Legion, killing Legate Valerius and scattering what soldiers still loyal to the faction across Portland and nearby areas. In the following months, the North Legion would disappear from the minds of those who knew them, and the few soldiers still loyal to Caesar who made their way back to the Mojave Wasteland would find themselves strung up on a cross, left to die from exposure and dehydration, similar to the Courier before them. The Exiles attempted to rebuild after the loss of General Elias Blackthorne and the Liberator, but were unable to obtain the presence they had over Portland. Despite the Courier's leadership, the low supplies and high casualties caused them to return to the Mojave Waateland, where they stood trial under the judgement of the two-headed bear. Grape was acquitted of her desertion and put to work in Bitter Springs, where her contributions helped the traumatized refugees of the Bitter Springs massacre. AJ, with as much gusto as could be mustered, fought back against the allegations of her desertion, and was sentenced to death by firing squad. She spent her final days locked in a cell, contemplating whether or not everything had been worth it. In her last moments, she looked towards the sun - towards Helios - and sneered, coming to her own conclusion that following Elias Blackthorne was a mistake after the capture of Helios One. As for the rest of the deserters, there was-- who the fuck cares about any of this? Holy shit, this is a load of Brahmin dung if I ever saw it. No one gives a fuck about anyone here. *(Flips through the script)* Finally! Some good fucking news. *(Clears throat)* Skitters stayed by the side of the Courier as they traveled back to the Mojave, ready to tackle whatever lays before them.

Who would have thought that Tiberius "Benedict Judas" Rancor couldn't be trusted?

Psychological horror doesn't work so great when it's trying to get into the head of a character that's a deliberate blank slate.

"This is literally the Metal Gear Solid torture sequence!" No, it's literally the Black Ops 2 interrogation sequence where you need to mash X to stop Mason from blowing a guy's brains out while your team gets info out of him. They didn't put a creative spin on anything they just stole from another game instead

Writers: “You feel bad about this.” Courier: ...not really, no. Writers: “YOU. FEEL. BAD. ABOUT. THIS.”

The worst parts of this game’s horror segments is, not only are they poorly written and paced, but so many times the sequence comes to a point where it could naturally end only to hit you with the “BUT WAIT...... THERE’S MORE!” And then it tries to out do the previous segment. Like, oh, blood ocean wasn’t enough for you? Aight, fuck it, you’re a skeleton now.

This mod jacks so many storylines from other media, for a second there I expected the Courier to fly at the nuke after telling AJ "You stay. I go. No following."

God, I hate General Blackthorne’s voice so much. It’s like some deep-voiced high school senior doing what he thinks is an impression of a man who’s seen countless battles and lost everything. Also he learned everything he knows about war from Michael Bay movies.

Remember when the base New Vegas had a competent Legion spy who used a regular cover name, acted like an unassuming officer and didn't draw attention to himself?

The steadily increasing hatred for this mod is the best part of this playthrough

The guy’s name is literally TIBERIUS Rancor.

Fun Fact: Jumping spider are considered to be the smartiest of all other spiders species (comparable to a dog's intelligence), this is because of their great eye sight (unlike others that rely on touch); this is why they are mistaken for being less aggressive or hostile when people handle them, simply they are able to clearly recognize their surroundings. They have been seen to plan out paths to catch their prey.

At this point the Courier would be like: "I JUST FUCKING WORK HERE"

I gotta say, too, I love how this mod just doesn't understand the appeal of the Courier as a protagonist whatsoever, nor the appeal of Lonesome Road. People enjoy playing as the Courier because they are morally ambiguous and have only a very vague backstory - they only have one real hook into the story, which is Benny killing them and taking the chip they were meant to deliver. And the entire point of Lonesome Road was showing how you can unknowingly have a huge impact on people's lives - how you can make people swear to destroy you and everything you love without realizing you wronged them in some way. It wasn't meant to actively shame the Courier, yet that's how these writers who didn't even like New Vegas interpreted it.

I like how he's more comfortable with Skitters now it's kind of endearing to watch lol

Tiberius Rancor is the like embodiment of what the dorkiest teenager thinks is the cool - shades, sweet badguy voice and his name is literally "Roman Emperor + dictionary word for hateful."

"the worst is over" The aggressively worst, yes, but wait till you see the Crusaders and their dialogue.

"It's all over" The intro hits diffrent when you know what mod is being played.

NotCR Campaign: "How many shitty movie/game tropes can we shoehorn into this mod?" Notherhood Campaign: "How many thinly-veiled author fetishes can we shoehorn into this mod?" NotLegion Campaign: "Guys what if the Legion abandoned their entire philosophy and was actually good though???"

Imagine going out to pick up your mail, and the mailman drives up, absolutely drenched in sweat, bullet holes in his vehicle, blood pouring from his head, and he screams "BRO CONGRESS WANTS TO ASSASSINATE ME, I JUST DELIVER MAIL, WHAT THE FUCK"

The worst thing about the mod besides the writing, the story, is the pacing! They make every single sequence go on for wayyy too long.

I like how there's not even a bit of self awareness among the writers. Because Blackthorn's plan is to do the same thing Julius Caesar did.

Like, the space section could have been decent... if it was it's own separate mod. Just set the whole mod on the moon with factions of Astronauts and Cosmonauts duking it out over Helium-3 reserves or something, and then introduce in a secret Nazi base ala Iron Sky. Boom, pretty decent foundation for a fun mod right there. Edit: Also sorry for the rant, but I fucking am sick of how mods only seem to think that the main character has to have some weird edgy shit where they're being psycho-analyzed like a incredibly poor man's Planescape Torment or KOTOR.

Yo, how did AJ see the explosion from Archimedes in the sky when the space station is literally just, like...in space? I guess staring right at a nuclear detonation gave her crazy good eyes. Fun fact, the person who done the cars of the mod got so mad at TK-mantis for giving him criticsm on his car mod. I guess everyone who worked on the mod is guilty.

If this was New Vegas, when they ask you to resist pulling the trigger, there would be a terrifying presence option to shoot him dead before the bag guys even finish asking you to shoot. The lack of choice and ability to be evil in this mod is fucking atrocious.

The moment they turned first recon into some spec ops kill squad i was so bloody mad.

These "You don't deserve our sacrifices" bits only work if the main character has established insecurity in the narrative. That or the players themselves(And keep in mind this is what the writer considers relatable) are this insecure, which... Take a look at all the drama and I think you have your answer.

Hearing "THE COURIER" so often actually gave me a headache

You know, a dream sequence about the courie's life and how he killed hundreds of people could be interesting If the writing was any good... seriously, it's just one "oooh you are a monster" after the other one with nothing in between, other than the button mashing that looks a lot like COD Black Ops 2 kravchenko interrogation.

This game doesn't make a lick of sense if you played as a pacifist or killed as little humans as possible

I absolutely love the absence of choice in this mod. Nobody who joins the courier is saved or recruited optionally, unless you count killing them instead of someone else.

of all the things that bother me about this mod the whole " hopeville guilt trip." is the one that does it the most. modders seem to miss the entire point that. YOU WERNT THERE. new california did the same exact thing by having you be in the blast during it's ending.

I love how a spider, a companion with no dialogue or much like that, is more beloved than any of the other characters who someone spent time “writing”. Skitters is great lmao

All this shitty over complicated story... and yet the most memorable story in fallout is “Vault runs out of water. Sends man to find water. Man finds mutant colony. Man kills mutant colony.”

One of my halo friends got Skyrim and had the same level of arachnophobia on display here. He spent the whole night screaming every time a frostbite spider came on screen and never played the game again. We were both young so I thought for a long time he was just doing it as a joke but clearly he isn’t the only one terrified of virtual spiders

The sad thing is that the whole nightmare sequence thing isn't even poorly done or anything in and of itself as far as imagery goes (the dialogue is still fucking stupid though). It's just completely unearned. Nobody gives a shit about any of these characters in the mod who died because you 'knew' most of them for like five minutes and they had fuck-all characterization worth the name. Plus the reason most of these guys died in the plot was so completely fucking stupid that nothing about bringing up their deaths actually works because it just continuously reminds you of how dumb everything was.

Also, do the mod devs even have a sense of distance at all? Do they seriously think that you can see a nuclear blast from a moderately sized nuclear missile Halfway trough another fucking state? That shit is like The Force Awakens type of bad when Finn could see the Starkiller Beams hitting the Republic system whilst he’s on another fucking solar system.

I'm saying it again, we need to have Don play Earth Defense Force 5. Him freaking out at the sight of a 🕷 spider horde has too much comedic potential.

Remember how New Vegas went almost the whole of the game and found ways of reffering to your character without calling you "Courier" every four seconds? The Frontier doesn't

vault 6 being very similar to vault 12 is actually one of the few things that is actually lore friendly (The vault was once planned to be in Fallout: Extreme, but it got scrapped)

So it's ok to make me shoot ghoulified children... but it's not ok to shoot that stupid spoiled demon spawn that gave me a shitty weapon ?

The arachnophobia arc was my favorite arc in this anime it really showed some deep character progression and world building, I would recommend it to anyone

I just realized... they nuked Sac-Town. Sac-Town is part of the NCR, and part of Little Loop, which connects Boneyard to New Vegas. That is not a small deal. That might mean the NCR's last route to New Vegas is fucked by the events of this story. Also, it's idiotic that the exile storyline mandates a part of the NCR gets nuked for it to progress. I say that as if anything involving in this campaign isn't just a stupid, edgy, juvenile fanfiction that commits gross canon defilement and lacks any sense of restraint.

It's like a human rights violation, it just keeps getting worse and worse.
