Very nice review! 1st time viewer - I love Clyde Mays Alabama Style Bourbon, which contains a slight punch of green apple. With that Bourbon(can't call it a true Whiskey once the fruit is added) tipping the wallet @$40, I was looking for something fairly similar in taste. I bought a bottle of the Four Roses today for a bit over $20, but haven't opened it yet - will tonight. I don't expect it to compare to the creamy, buttery, velvet taste of the Mays; but if it's a good sipping Bourbon, I'll be very pleased. Love your candor and style, brother!
I recently bought a bottle of this, I had old Thompson which I am told gives gut rot. I don't drink enough to get say gut rot. It makes me fart the next day. I decided to move up to Four Roses. I like it, not terribly expensive. I really like it with mango Pepsi but wanted to cut out the sugar so I mixed with zero Pepsi. I enjoy it after work so I can relax and go to bed. I paid about 23 bucks for it. I will continue to buy it.
Excellent bourbon for the money and don't let the coloring fool you. The color of many, many spirts can be made any shade they (marketing executives) find attractive.
Exactly, that is why I used the word "spirts". I guess if it's a young bourbon and is being exported to Europe the distributors there may monkey around with the color but not here in the States.
It's pretty good, but if you're into the the high proof it's not the that good. It's something you would want a friend to try if they just starting to try bourbon.
I completely agree with this review, love bourbon but just recently tried this. It tastes good but no punch at all, finish is weak and almost watered down. I will try other four roses but will save this one for mixing
I’m gonna try Four Roses next time I get some bourbon. Basil Hayden is one I’ve had at restaurants and I really enjoy theirs. Maker’s Mark is alright too, not my favorite though but it was worth a taste.
Love 4 Roses SB, this one is pretty good, little flat... and you are right, only a couple of notes. what is the ring, patch, hat, sticker, shirt, coin check? a Club??
$14.85…. Whatever state you’re in I’m going to ask for an immediate transfer, and contribute to the local economy. I just payed $31.99 but it’s also about 4 years after this review was posted.
Four Roses small batch is great but this one smells great taste ok but the bottle I got it seems to fight all the way down, pretty harsh, Benchmark $10 a fifth way better
It's okay. Not quite worth the 25 i paid though. If I'm going for a cheap buzz, I'd prefer a bottle of 10 dollar gin and some ginger ale. I like taste in my bourbon, this just doesn't have it. The rye spice is basically what makes it palatable for me.
I'll be honest. I bought it just to try something new. I didn't really like it. It's all hyped on the reviews and awards, but I don't see how. It'd be good for shots or mixing with coke, but straight up it just taste like water, alcohol, and brown food coloring lol probably won't buy it again. Paid $24 and some change.
