GPKNIVES, I just got my trainer for this knife, and can you please tell me which tool is used to remove the pocket clip? It came with it aligned for a lefty. Thank you.
It's really no different than the other versions with exception to the handles which are Carbon Fiber/G10 laminate. You can see a short vid of it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hHksskJcMNk.html
Please see this video at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MCacwhVKwfw.html. Simply disengage the liner lock and fold closed. Thanks for watching.
thanks so much for the reply, i suppose i mean to ask this, in terms of material quality, build quality and design, totally ignoring price, which if either of these brands would on average come out on top? i really want a karambit, but i mean to have one as a collector first and function second.
Sure thing! Personally I find the build quality on the Fox to be better. Just in terms of fit, finish and operation they are smoother. Materials wise they are on par with one another. Some might give a nod to Emerson for the titanium liners but the smoother operation of the steel more than makes up for the weight difference. I like the Aluminum scale version (tinyurl.com/y9v7fdrp) for both looks and carry. Just my .02¢. Hope this helps.
GPKNIVES hi, I hope you read this. I’m having a hard time deciding between the 479 and the 599 due to grip size, as they’re almost the same knife, just one is sized down. Any tips to help decide?
+Hoss Hey Hoss, I am relatively new to the world of the Karambit but I would say that I am interested in them. From the ones that I have experience with (Brous, Emerson, Spyderco, & Fox) I would have to say I prefer the Fox Knives 478. The aluminum handles provide a super fast draw and deployment via the Wave and N690Co is a great steel from my experience. For a fixed blade the TAC-TOPS is tough to beat but the size might be overkill for most of us. The Folts KeraMin is a great small option and the C.U.T. 4.0 is well executed and sized for EDC but not technically a Karambit due to the blade shape.
@@Gpknives I know this is super old but, on any knife with G10 scales it’s best to remove the clip and sand the area where it contacts the scales. Will stop shredding your jeans too.
@@Gpknives because i saw a fox karambit online that has a blade length of 2.75 inches and has carbon fibre scales. I was kinda curious if those were a different model.
Hi Lance, Fox makes two nearly-identical models-- the 478\479, and the 599. The Model 599 is a more traditionally-sized, easily-concealable Karambit with a 2.56" blade. The Model 478 (Aluminum grip) and 479 (G10 grip) shown in this video are larger, with a 2.95" blade. While I would have preferred the 599, as I practice combatives rooted in the Indonesian systems, I ended up with a 479 to accommodate my meaty, canned-ham-sized hands, as the 478\479 also has a larger grip. Hope this helps!
thx bro! Yes, I know it's an Italian product. I asked because there is a seller in my country with the 478 models. He claims they are manufactured in China under Fox's supervision, strange, right? I think they're copies.
