I wanna thank you 4 showing these Classic Movies. it's a shame how a lot of these movies were labeled blaxploitation films. a lot of people looked down at these movies. granted some of them were bad, but a lot of them were made by us. in that period from the late 60s to the late 70s a lot of black people were getting work behind the camera's . as as well as in front of it. l was born in 65 so l was too young to fully understand the full impact that these movies had on our culture. now as a grown ass man l can appreciate & really enjoy these movies. thank you for this gift of Cinematic Treasures.

Where were films like this in 1970s? All I ever saw were stories about Pimps, Drug dealers and Prostitutes with Revenge complex. About only good guy was, detective John Shaft.

This is an excellent film. I was a little boy in 1973. From a perspective of social and economic examination, this film does demonstrate how black pastors are often the enabling sources for much of the dysfunction currently seen in black communities.
@dwighthayes4738
@dwighthayes4738 4 года назад
@J Peavy 100% correct. If I recall correctly she used the term The Federation as it concerned such so called pastors that were being selected to enable their agendas inside of black communities. Many pastors were also identified as trouble makers and they were avoided by Sanger and her ilk.

Chuck Daniel plays the lead role as A.J. Fox. I cannot seem to find any info on him or updated photos. I pray he is doing fine. The woman playing the mother is Juanita Moore, born 1914 and passed away in 2014. This film also goes under the title: Fox Style Killer. The film was released in June, 1973.

101:57 bad edit: goes from lady being cool and receptive to the citronella, then the lady is offended like the dude felt her up or something. Hope to find the outtake for this section. The characters dialogue and action that fills in the gap between calm to mild freakout would make that scene pop, possibly in a comedic way.

This FILM was made during in MY OPINION the SECOND MAJOR ERA of BLACK FILM MAKING in AMERICAN FILM MAKING . One ERA was out of NEED for BLACK FILMERS WERE LOCK OUT in yhFIRST ERA , this ERA though was NEEDED by MIAN STREAM HOLLYWOOD because of a DOWN TURN in SALES to WHITE AMERICA MOVIE GOERS during that PERIOD . The BLACK AMERICAN FILM GOERS were already there but UNTAPED as a MARKET by MAIN STREAM HOLLYWOOD as a MAKER .BLACK FILMS had always DONE FINANCIAL in AMERICA THEATER but LOCKED OUT the MAIN STREAM . This ERA in MY OPINION HELP BLACK FILMERS but also HURT at the same . The MAJOR STUDIOS only PRODUCED some many FILMS PRE YEARS because of CAUSE of COST to PRODUCE them . A lot of BLACK ACTORS and ACTRESSES there PAY SCALE when UP ,but because of LESS FILMS BEENING make a lot LESS BLACK ACTORS and ACTRESSES where WORKING . Then when the WHITE AMERICAN MARKET RETURNED even MORE of there BLACK ACTORS and ACTRESSES SQUEEZED OUT EMPLOYMENT in MOVIES .So in DID BLACK AMERICANS a in the MAIN STREAM MOVIE INDUSTRY it HURT too . TOM JEFFIER WHOM was the FIRST SINGING COWBOY in the AMERICA MOVIES was one those SQUEEZED OUT in this PROCESS , I forget the INTERVIEW I say TALKED about this ERA in AMERICAN MOVIES but it was VERY ENLIGHTING DISCUSSION about this PERIOD in BLACK AMERICANS FILM .

This was actually a sweet, uplifting little movie, which is especially surprising considering the time it was made. It lacks the bitterness, resentment, and cynicism often seen in black movies of that period. My only complaint is it appears that the N-word has been excised from this print, which kind of takes the punch out of some of the dialogue. We know who the bad guys are. It's okay to have bad people say bad things. But otherwise, I really liked this! Thank you for posting it!
