Great video! Want to make a small comment that both factions have a dedicated tech group. Collies = QMs, and Wardens = TMs. The majority of the players tend to hand over tech mats to those QMs/TMs or leave it in the refinery for someone to take it to each of them. They essentially do research (there are some irregularities with tech rates), and distribute of protos. For example, if you've farmed enough materials for 8 tanks, its entirely possible you may not use all those prototypes, so by giving it to a group we can help distribute the kits across the map and into the hands of individuals (and clans that might need 20 of a prototype potentially). Final note that this system that most people tend to subscribe to is 100% optional and no QM/TM should ever force or take away your hard-earned materials, in fact many of them encourage you to use said materials if you're going to use it for yourself. However, many people still prefer to hand it to the tech group (its good to know your protokits and tech materials are in good hands, to prevent griefing). If you ever have a question about tech, feel free to ask for a QM (if collie) or TM (if warden) in world chat and you may get a whisper, we are all generally pretty friendly
I am very happy with your last paragraph. People who know me know I'm not a big fan of TM, QM or whatever the flavour of the day is. But that paragraph is a very important aside. So thanks for reiterating
But if you cant submit prototypes to stock pile, what do you do with them once they're made? How many Prototypes need to be made before a tech tree is opened?
@@FreerkHoltes absolutely I learned so much from watching your tutorial playlist I went from having no clue why to do to having build my own freighter, tanks and shells and transported them to the from all by the end of my first day. All of your tutorials are phenomenal and explains everything perfectly.
I have a question. Do we need to make the prototype to increase the tech level? or just simply put the Tmates to the tech tree and it will increase automatically.
As someone doing research before getting the game, what are prototypes used for? What I got is that building them accelerates the research, but do you just get a lesser variant to ship to the front lines?
The prototype itself does not further research, the submitting of the "tech materials" does. The prototype gives you access to a lesser variant before the actual thing is unlocked
Sorry how exactly does the research work do you just get the entire row every time or do some things get locked if you don't pick them. Also do prototypes have different stats than the normal versions of said weapon/vehicle
The left part of a row is where the choice is (if there is a choice). The entire right part will be unlocked as soon as one of the left side options get's researched. You will be locked out of the choices you didn't make until you reach the end of the techtree at which point you go through rows of the tree again that still ahve options open. Prototypes don't function differently, but will require more bmats to repair and will take more damage
Do we need to make the prototype vehicle to further research or is just getting the prototype kit enough? Very nice video series, I keep getting redirected to it from in-game chat.
Getting the prototype kit is enough. Making the prototype (vehicle/emplacement/weapon) is a bonus. And thank you for the kind words, always nice to see the things you put work into get appreciated!
maybe i'm missing something, i just spent copper alloy to research a tank. however even after submitting around 10 times i didn't get any prototype kits. bug or me stupid?^^
Hey yo, very useful guide, your videos help me a lot, but can you explain, I do some reserch, spend some aluminium alloy and get gun prototypes, then I do the same thing with copper and didnt have a prototype for wehicle in my inventory, and just waste copper alloy. Thanks for videos and information, one of the best sources
Thanks! The change to get a prototype kit is pretty high but there is still RNG involoved. SO whenever you submit tech you might lose the tech and not get a kit, you will still further tech along though
@@FreerkHoltes That's correct. The benefit of having a vehicle above the current tech tier is offset by it being more vulnerable and expensive in combat, additionally the repairs take longer and the armor cannot be repaired at a garage
You use them if you want to. They work just like normal vehicles and weapons although for vehicles there's some limitations in the fact they take more damage and use more materials to be repaired.
@@FreerkHoltes Is that just the standard response from Engineers? I once asked how long until we get tanks and they said 15 minutes and it took 3 days.
Once enough research is done (submitting the materials) the whole row will be unlocked immediatly. A message will show in the top left of your screen saying "The Wardens/Colonials unlocked: - item 1 - item 2 etc." After that message the mentioned items are availble for production at the appropriate strutcture (garage, build menu, factory or construction yard)
