Today I do a review of the Foxsur Smart charger for Lead batteries.
Note: For any HF radio operators wanting this charger it does cause a little
white noise on HF while charging. I just charge any batteries that need charging
when I'm not in the radio room.

Does the pulse repair mode have automatic shutting "OFF" display when pulse repair completed? Or they run forever ?
@hamradiocomms
@hamradiocomms 25 дней назад
I tried it a few times it helped restore to some degree 2 AGM batteries I had tried on the charger. I left it on over 12 hours it was still running so I don't think it has auto shutoff unless its much longer than 12 -15 hours that I tried.

@@hamradiocomms i tried it also at 37 hours and it still in repair pulses mode, i think it run forever (60ah 600cca battery regular flooded)

@@playstation2bigs thanks for the info…. I wondered how long it would go… I agree, if it didn’t shut off in that time it probably never does.

Do you find it radiates QRM? Some of the Foxsur chargers sold in the UK were bad, and they turned out not to meet the CE standard although they have it right there on the case.

Good question…no problem on VHF or UHF but I haven’t been on HF while charging a battery, I’ll check it out and reply back here in next couple days so ham radio operators will know and I’ll put it in the show notes.

Ok so I charged my battery On vs Off while checking HF and it does have some extra hash / white noise when charging. None of my other chargers I just checked had any effect on HF. So you were right about this charger. However, not a big issue for me since I have many other devices in my house that do the same thing with worse effect than the charger. These devices are a 12vdc LED light bar, an electric heater, my furnace, a daylight florescent lamp (this one is crazy bad making HF unusable), and a few more. I just don't run any of these if I'm on HF. I'm not often on HF and charging at the same time since it makes a fan noise anyway, I charge any battery that needs it when I'm not in the radio room. However, if someone wanted to use this charger as a battery maintainer and is a radio operator I'd that would be a case where this charger wouldn't be good. Thanks for the great info.

My new 90A battery not fully charged but charger indicate the ful can i use it for repair mode ??
@hamradiocomms

You probably can but a new battery should be fine without the repair mode or you can probably return it. I was wondering how you know it didn't charge even though it says FUL? Is the voltage too low even though it says FUL? Is is a lead acid AGM type or flooded? I can give you a better answer if I knew some more details.

Thank you for the review. I tried it on a UPS Battery (12V 7Ah) on Motorcycle mode. It shows FUL (not PUL!) and 100% Charge. But the battery, on OC without the charger, has only 7V. Pulse Charge option is working as it appears. What's the meaning of FUL?
@hamradiocomms
@hamradiocomms 2 года назад
You're welcome! FUL means Full, or battery fully charged. What are you using to read the 7vdc? You mention "on OC" not sure what that means . If it's indeed 7VDC when read on a multimeter then the battery is no good. Motorcycle mode is what I use for my 7ah batteries and it works fine.

@@hamradiocomms The instructions manual does not mention about the meaning of FUL, that's where my question arises. I used a normal multimeter to measure the battery voltage on open circuit (OC!), without the charger connected. Yes. It may be the battery, the indication is confusing though. Thank you.

@@bandulas.tilakasena5785 hi.. I didn’t find FUL in the manual either but I found a another Foxsur charger almost identical display and that had FUL in it. Also 2 of my other chargers from other brands use FUL to indicate full so I’m sure that is what it means on this model. Try another battery if u have or can borrow one to see that the charger is working fine.

@@hamradiocomms Thank you. It is working fine otherwise. I tried this time on an AGM battery 100Ah/12V

Foxsur cant determine your battery. You should use it on repair mode at least once. May be several times

Good review but too much trivia mentioned, e.g. nice cord, hard plastic, unplug, etc.

Is it meant to be light in weight?
@hamradiocomms
@hamradiocomms Год назад
No not designed to be light in weight… just the design and cost of materials to be cheaper to make. Great value for the money but not as robust as more expensive chargers make of steel etc

how to setting voltage 24v to 12v??
@hamradiocomms
@hamradiocomms Месяц назад
Good question … the charger automatically senses 12v 0:04 or 24v battery and adjusts the charging voltage automatically
