Foy Vance performing "Guiding Light" at Music City Roots Live From The Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival on 3.06.2015 at The Empire Music Hall In Belfast, Northern Ireland
I have no shame in saying I’ve watched this 4 times in a row and have cried every single time. Amazing. Can’t wait to see him again in Belfast in November.
I first met Foy while playing on the Delbert McClinton cruise in 2014 and had the good pleasure of playing with him too , I was completely blown away, amazing song and a great person, thanks for your music brother!
I ran across this song about 2 weeks ago. I love it... I wanted to share it with my mom, knowing she would love it. But she sadly passed this past week before I could get her to listen to it. And the song has taken on new meaning, My mother the rock and the guiding light of my family
Sorry for your loss - I know what it is to lose a much-treasured Mum. Although she couldn't be comforted by this song, I'm sure you will be. There it's much joy in Foy's music.
Amazing. This guy is an unassuming super star. Excellent songwriter, singer and musician. What an awesome feeling it must be to have that many people sing your song over and over again like that. I'm convinced they would have kept going had he not stopped them. 👍😎
I wanna come and live in Belfast every night ... I’m so happy that your beautiful soul reached mine. Your music is your guiding light, thank God for your Everything.
Yeah, I challenge anyone to listen to him sing anything live and say they don't like him. The guy is one of the most talented musicians on the planet. Voice, lyrics, and song-wise. Pure class. :)
I'd be happy to write one good song like this and Foy has a catalog of "hits". Saw Foy last year at Levon Helm's Barn in NY and you can feel this man in his music...he resonates through your soul when he sings
Well the road is wide And waters run on either side And my shadow went with fading light Stretching out towards the night 'Cause the sun is low And I yet have still so far to go My lonely heart is beating so Tired of the wonder There's a sign ahead Though I think it's the same one again But I'm thinking 'bout my only friend And so I find my way home 'Cause when I need to get home You're my guiding light You're my guiding light When I need to get home You're my guiding light You're my guiding light Oh, well the air is cold And yonder lies my sleeping soul By the branches broke like bones Well, this weakened tree no longer holds Well, the night is still And I have not yet lost my will Oh and I will keep on moving 'till 'Till I find my way home When I need to get home You're my guiding light You're my guiding light (x6) So lead me on, and leave me strong Like the road I walk on When I need to get home You're my guiding light You're my guiding light (x2)
art makes people friendly to each other, see the audience at first. They were conservatives. i shed a tear when i saw them praising God. not for joy nor sorrow.. anger i think.
