FPV Freestyle Pilot Reacts To HDZero Goggles with 3ms of Latency 

I would have to agree. They have debited my account twice and I have heard zip, nada from them on shipping etc. They better get this fixed! Period....

Hm strange I'd try getting in tough with them again. They are usually very good with customers. My guess is the covid wave has affected them more than they let on. Remember they had to take a bullet train and travel 10 hours out of their location just to get the initial batch of goggles shipped out to customers because of the covid spread and all their stuff got it shortly after lockdowns were lifted. I'm sure they will sort things out.

I thought that the discount on now was a preorder for a new batch?

Dont juge that hard about hdzero. The goggle was out of Stock after few hours. Hdzero arent like dji or maybe rotorriot where work a lot of people. Shipping hundreds of goggles, packed by only a few people or for answering customer Emails will need time.

I got all HDzero! I like it. I fi want to fly somewhere farther away I just walk lol. I don't fuck with long distance so I'm set with it

@@stingersswarm yea, best way to do it is fly like 5 packs on 90fps, then switch the cam to 60fps in the menu(this does work) and then fly again. I'm curious how drunk it makes you feel before you adjust again

Yeah they are tempting for that. Honestly that is why I bought Walksnail stuff. Unfortunately I haven't been very impressed with walksnail. IDK hoping it gets better.

@@stingersswarm I did the same. Walksnail sucked. They have great reviews on the website. I don't get it. Range and latency was horrible for me.

@@stingersswarm Make sure to try latest FWs, Walksnail getting better and better but its not perfect yet. In the End we all want the latency from HDzero, the Goggle from Walksnail and the picture quality from DJI.

Yeah. I was hoping to use all three on them. But I just haven't been impressed with the walksnail system. Maybe they can step it up with a firmware update.

You hit the nail on the head. I would avoid it most of the time on both systems. I'd fly through it on either system to connect multiple areas or just change up my lines to keep it interesting but I wouldn't linger there on any system. Fist bump.

Exactly! Picking an FPV video system in 2023 is freaking hard. I've currently got all of them except the O3 and I'm still not convinced of which one is ultimately right for me.

Yeah there are trade offs for sure. I think I want to have some of both systems. I really like the feel of them both.

@@stingersswarm so far the Fatshark Dominator goggles perform pretty good. Only need to fiddle with elrs packet rates and goggle image settings to feel less detached from the quad. Feel like higher packet rates etc give a more connected feel when flying. TrueRC stubbies helped a lot to.

I’m using a Radiomaster Boxer with ELRS for the control link.

There are a lot of those out there. I honestly don't even have a 5" analog bird up and running anymore.

Yeah. I've been flying the firefly nano 2s with HDZero on the VRX for about a month. I wasn't terribly impressed but switching to the standalone goggles have me believing more in the hype. I am going to keep flying 5" primarily on this for now. But I will want to keep some DJI around for clarity and penetration.

It isn't but I'm looking forward to trying it out.

@@stingersswarm I just finally tried out the 540/90 yesterday. Dude! My first thought is the 540/60 would have to give me significantly more penetration for me to give up the 90fps mode. It is crazy smooth and locked. Looking forward to all the options tho!

@@stingersswarm Ah bummer I was always under the impression that DJI had amazing range compared to analog.

It is complicated. Both will totally fail at the same point. Most people feel more comfortable flying dji to that limit because they can see more of the image. However one could fly analog or hdzero the same location. I’m specifically talking about flying behind objects. Long range is a totally different story.

@@stingersswarm Yea I heard DJI has that 13km hard range limit. I guess DJI also handles multipathing better resulting in a better link at the same point. I guess I need to try it to get the feel myself. Great videos by the way man, loving it!

I think you might be right. Probably some still would but not nearly as much of the market.

In fact that hdzero is faster than analog now + a way better picturequality there is no need for analog anymore. Analog is now a cheap way to enter this Hobby.

It is very obvious, you can’t miss it. My blind tests are: When I forget what settings a quad is on I can tell in 2 seconds as soon as I take off, ignoring the resolution difference, it feels/looks very different. 60/90hz… you can fly even more aggressively with 90, it is significant to me. 60 is good (super similar feel to analog) but 90 is better. My analog feels too slow, now that I’m used to HDZero, and I have been flying less and less of it. The advantage of 90hz in a race/proximity setting is undeniable.

This is the lowest latency system I've flown and I've flown them all. A lot. I would love to have all the options 540 90, 540 60, 720 60, and 1080 30. Then just choose the most appropriate mode for the situation. That is where HDZero is headed.

The difference in 60fps and 90fps was pretty easy for me to tell, it makes the image a lot smoother. Just take a couple fast turns and the difference is really noticeable. My first pack I found myself going back and fourth doing fast turns around two trees and in the turns I had the trees just locked in the center of the screen and it felt awesome. I spent most of the pack doing this kind of mesmerized. Switched modes back and fourth during my 2nd pack doing the same thing and it was really noticeable. Feel confident I could blind test at 100% easy even if the latency was throttle to be the same

I know I was just testing the lowest latency mode.

Throttle expo is the worst. Get better throttle control.

We bashed bandos long before there was such a thing as digital. You are just limiting yourself.

I wouldn't get your hopes up! Carl seems to have gotten all that this technology has to offer. Remember, Fatshark dumped this system because the potential just wasn't there. It doesn't come close to competing against Walksnail or DJI....not in the same ballpark....and not in the same universe with DJI and the 03 air unit. The Tech behind HDZero just isn't that revolutionary. ANALOG2 is what it is. Sharper analog...that's it, I'm afraid. Wait for JB's review comparing all digital systems and their goggles. It'll show how far behind HDZero truly is. The GAP is the size of the GRAND CANYON! lol

Yeah the VRX really didn't impress me at all. I couldn't feel hardly any difference to DJI

@@stingersswarm going by memory, I agree DJI120 and the VRX felt off in a very similar way… I couldn’t really get comfortable with either. But this goggle, especially at 90hz is ridiculously comfortable to fly. Flight feel is unparalleled, and I have tested everything extensively. I have improved so much since getting the goggle, me and the people close to me are honestly shocked at the difference in my abilities. It’s like a limiter was removed… crazy feeling!!! I love it! Love your content! Always a straight shooter!

Yeah I would say it is just a a step above analog. I need to do more testing. It'll be interesting when they have 1080 30 available down to 540 60 for penetration it has potential to be a versatile system.

@@stingersswarm The Goggles 2 fit my face so badly it nearly doesn't matter ;) But O3 Dimensions are not as bad as the huge freestyle VTX and: Its DJI, literally days after the release a dozen different frame options are available.

There are plenty of videos out there covering this systems performance. As the title states it is all about my reaction to the system. Thanks for checking it out.

@@stingersswarm that's first pixel response. That's like measuring gaming latency of a monitor and a game without considering the connection to the network. They're 18ms goggles, at best. Nothing to sneeze at but 3ms is just response time of the screens in the goggle, nothing to do with transmission

Then you don't get full bandwidth, bit rate, or transmit power. Not a good option.
