Thank you Cameron, this is a wise decision. I show the Mass of the Ages in my middle school Religion class. My students almost certainly have no idea who Father Jackson is, but I do, and I felt that it was the one black mark on an otherwise excellent production. I appreciate this.

The federal government has a 99.6% conviction rate. I don't believe its because they do such a good job at identifying the wrong doers. There is a lot on the accused to plead guilty. He plead guilty to receipt of child pornography not to possession.

The truly innocent and holy ones take the persecution and accept the martyrdom for the greater glory of God. They don’t cave under pressure and admit to this type of depravity. Just because they have exploited their position doesn't mean they are masons. I am so disappointed in this. The truth is reading between the lines and KNOWING Fr Jackson. Spending time with him. CONFESSING to him! That would have been a GREAT red flag and it wasn’t (he was my confessor for MANY years). I’m not blind to my loyalty. Padre Pio, pray for us!

He pleaded guilty to 'receiving' the obscene images. If someone sent them, they were received on his computer, it doesn't mean he accepted/approved of them. I agree with the one who said a legal guilty plea (in lieu of what threats, one might wonder) is different from actual guilt. Do we really trust the eff be I these days? Question the timing of this. A French Traditional priest was also in the news in the same week as Fr. Jackson's 'guilty' plea. This a few weeks after Sister Wilhelmina - who suffered and labored for Tradition - was found to be incorrupt. Fr. Jackson was first accused after his participation in this beautiful Mass of the Ages video. His words were the cliffhanger at the end of Episode I that promised to tell all that went wrong in the imposition of the new Mass.
It is morally permissible to enter a plea of “guilty” even though one is innocent, in order to receive a lighter sentence. The “Alfred Plea” is an example, where one pleads guilty although innocent, if it is believed that the jury has enough evidence to conclude guilt.

If it were okay to save oneself by lying, then every martyr should not have given their lives for Christ. There are many who believe that he is being set up. That he is a very holy priest. This implies that he has a very genuine and strong relationship with the Lord. What are we taught about persecutions by Christ? The way is not lying because it is a legal maneuver. The way is to accept the cross, persevere through the persecution, and pray for vindication. To stand for TRUTH. I found Fr. Jackson's segment in Episode I of Mass of the Ages, where he talks about 'sin', very compelling. His recent admission to having in his possession child pornography doesn't, of itself, preclude the words he spoke- for his words rang very true. I believe that someone who has lived a long life, is familiar with sin in all of its guises- especially one who would've heard countless confessions, who himself would've been struggling with overwhelming temptation in the matter of purity, would perhaps more than anyone else, be able to lay out the bare facts on sin. It is more irony than anything else that this was his allotted topic in episode I. It would be a mistake to excise it from the original release.
Personally, I would wait until the matter is settled in court. When all is said & done, if guilt is determined then I would retool the 1st episode. But until then, I would wait. I know that emotions are running high with his admission, but legally I think it important to know exactly what that plea technically implies & whether it is changed in the future.
I think the greater danger would be that RU-vid would deplatform the video for having him in it. I'm glad you aren’t just doing a hack job in the recut, too.

I hate that you have to do this. That episode was so amazing. James Jackson's part in it was terrific. But what he did is horrific. I don't like the position you got put into and the nasty stuff that got thrown your way. I don't think that your first reaction was rash. I just think that this is a better way to go.

Sadly, this is probably the right decision for the good of the cause. However, having known Fr Jackson personally as our parish priest in CO, I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that he possessed such a weakness. His commentary in the original film was exemplary, as is his writings and pretty much everything else he accomplished - including teaching Bishop James Conley the Latin Mass so he could confirm my three oldest children (among others). The confession I heard in that courtroom was, I hope, one of a wrongly accused and infinitely humble man, who simply desires to avoid any further scandal for Holy Mother Church. I fully accept that it could be wishful thinking on my part, and only he and God know the full truth, but the irregularities surrounding this case should at least cast reasonable doubt among reasonable people. I pray he still achieves the beatific vision regardless.

The series was an interesting concept highlighting the TLM. O’Hearn did the right thing taking Episode 1 offline. Even if Rev Jackson was viewing the questionable material just out of curiosity, it was still vilely pornographic involving minors and obviously illegal, not to mention misuse of church revenue. I have already commented that pedophilia is a generational family disorder which must be taken into account. tbs To remake the video would be capitulation to obnoxious opportunists such as Michael Voris and Janet Smith who call themselves Catholic. It will not be done anytime soon, so why do it at all? Let sleeping dogs lie.
