Can't believe TED put Benoit Mandelbrot on a timer.

This was filmed February 13 2010, 8 months after this he died. What a great mind and humble man!

This talk reminds me of an aspect of chaos theory: that systems which are given the ability to become complex will. It can be a simple system, like a double pendulum however complex variation can arise from a simple set of rules and the freedom of the system. Complexity then does not necessarily need complex rules, rather a plane of possibility is the key ingredient for complexity.

RIP to the man who discovered the most beautiful and complex thing in the universe The Mandelbrot Set.
