What to do when you want a full frame-off restoration, but you don't have a lift? That's exactly what Kristin & Ethan are doing on their 1966 Ford F100 restoration project, and they give you the tips and tricks for how to do a frame-off restoration without a lift in Episode 3 of Extra Good.

In this episode, you'll see how they managed getting the cab off the frame without a lift and only the two of them. Hint: they used basic ol' physics. They also talk over benefits of going all the way with a frame off versus those times why you may NOT want or need htis level of chassis restoration.
With the chassis bare, Kristin & Ethan set to work restoring their truck chassis. First, a power wash helped to break off all the extra dirt, grime and flaking paint as possible. That was followed up with hours of wire wheeling the old junk and rust clean. While they didn't need to go all the way to bare metal, as they're not looking for show car quality, that's pretty much what they did. When Kristin decides to go after something, she's not satisfied with anything less than "Extra Good!" Finally, they painted on a couple coats of ruck bed liner paint to the chassis. The textured, heavy-duty nature of this paint mimics what they use from the factory and should do well in preserving this Ford F100 restoration for decades to come.
While these two are happy with the progress they've made and the rsults of their chassis restoration, there are a few things they'd do differently next time. Anyone tackling a frame off restoration needs to understand the hard work it takes and be willing to put in the elbow grease. Watch to learn all of their tips & tricks, including Ethan's pointers on removing the body mounts on a classic F100 pickup.

You make it sound that everybody believes a lift is necessary to do a restoration job.
