France Gall was a sunshine. She still is.(...)
France Gall était un soleil. Elle l’est toujours.(...)
In the fall of 1967, France Gall was the guest of the famous journalist Georges De Caunes for Télé-Luxembourg. The opportunity for the young singer, just 20 years old, to confide in her family, her roots, her beginnings in music, her collaboration with Serge Gainsbourg, and her aspirations. France Gall seems uninterested in fame and success: they've been familiar to her for 4 years, but she doesn't seem to really care. If we can already observe her modesty and her natural reserve, it is easy to see that what really thrills the young girl are the normal things in life. This is love, and the simple, tidy life she dreams of. Far from what she knows. Since her debut in 1963, it has been a whirlwind that has imposed itself on her: the successes, numerous, and a lot of work. And too little time to enjoy, to live the sweet existence she so desires. Childhood ended overnight, and her adolescence aborted. Moreover, the dispersed image that her repertoire gives her to the public hardly enchants her. She can't find her way there, going from children's songs, to teenage bluettes, from jazz songs to Gainsbourg lyrics. However, she assumes everything during the very many galas, the many tours through France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Japan,… The success is there, but the young girl wishes to free herself from what she sees as strings and wants to breathe, refocus and determine what she really wants to do. On the heart too, France has lightened up: a few months earlier she put an end to her complicated relationship with Claude François. Some time after this show, her contract with Phillips will end, and she will not renew it, preferring to go her own way. It will take her more than five years before having the encounter which will turn her life upside down and fulfill all her expectations. “Michel wrote me a song that said 'I want it everything'. And what is incredible is that I had it" she said in 1993. As this seer predicted in Munich: no, France Gall will not be a housewife. She will not get married (very) young. And she will continue her profession ... with her husband "who will help her and follow her everywhere".

Interesting the palmist in Germany was basically right about her future married life, close for the age of marriage, 27 not 30, and she married someone who she continued to work with, a songwriter, and the husband and wife followed each other around till his premature death of a heart attack.

Wow, that was absolutely superb! The styling is amazing. Thanks for the English subtitles. Find fun to watch these, see what people think of their future. Also found the stereotype of American girls to be quite funny. Yet again, many thanks!

Hello Noflaye, very nice to see the lovely France Gall in this interview. And with the English subtitles I can understand what they talk about. I had already discovered several videos in this cube setting from Claude1943. There was the date in the description. It was France Gall's 20th birthday. Long time ago. Unfortunately, she died exactly 4 years ago. But she lives on in her music and our memories and will not be forgotten. - - - - - A note: In my local daily newspaper (printed, not online) is a column every day with birthdays and days of deaths. Today 07.01.2022 there was mentioned: France Gall (died 2018), French singer (born 1947). So even the editors of a small newspaper some 1000 km away from Paris have not forgotten her. - - - - - Many thanks to you for your videos with English subtitles. Greetings to you and all fans of the enchanting France Gall!

@@noflaye5536 Another comment: March 2, 2023: my daily newspaper said: ----- Anniversaries of deaths category: Serge Gainsborg (1991), French singer, film music composer and actor, born 1928. ----- I suspect someone in the editorial team loves French music, and I wonder if they will also mention Michel Berger's birthday. It's very nice that they don't forget them. ----- This Interview with France Gall is wonderful.

Omg, the whole reportage was a mild sexual harassment, watching it in 2023. Poor France, she had to bear with him, his constant sexualization of her in about every 10 seconds, he couldn’t stay an inch away from her face. His face was talking from inside her mouth. And the persistence with his questions trying to belittle her and keep talking like he was trying to prove a point, as if she lacked savoir vivre, world wisdom and proper education. Gosh, she kept her grace the whole time, of course just like one would expect from this divine gorgeous . Funny, he would be possibly the fastest cancelled person in history, if he lived today. LoL

4:10 Good job but "around the third" is a bit problematic : "La troisième" would be 9th grade or Year 10 in the UK, something among these lines. ;)

Haha! Thanks Dummytree! I was sure this would not fit with other countries school system. But I didn't know what to chose. So I just translate the exact french word :-)

A small citation regarding the ages of a student in _la troisième_ would have sufficed, even if it may be clunky. I agree with Noflaye; such terms are hard to translate when English-speaking countries have varying curriculums

@@parasatc8183 For the most part, "Troisième" is usually the year where kids are 14 and maybe turn 15 at the end of the school year.
