Years ago in that old South Sacramento neighborhood we used to ride BMX bikes all over, we were at Frank's old house off of Fruitridge. He breaks out a guitar and tells us he's going to be a rock star. I think we were about 12 or 13. Well, the shit came true!

Frank, rocks. I went to San Juan H. S. His band"City Kid "played a battle of the bands at our school. Fast forward a few years, they opened for Bon Jovi at Cal Expo. How cool is that? My brother still lives in Fair Oaks his home town

Saw them open for Def Leppard in 87 and have been forever hooked. Saw them recently in 2020 and Frank had a jacket that said Rock n Roll Gangster on the back. Couldn’t be truer 🤘

Lots of great stuff there. FYI Frank, you have become Jimmy for a lot of fans who grew up in the 80's.

I saw The Song Remains The Same and Dark Side Of The Moon in the theater in 1972 That was my first tast of "live" music Then y first Concert was Atlanta Rythm Section But the most memorable concert was Rucsh My brother and sister got me tickets to see RUSH in Mobile Civic Center Max Webster was suppose to open but broke up an hour before the show My sister, as usual was running late We got ther about 5 minutes before show time and as we aproached the gate we hear 2112 I said See you back at the car and took off brcause I had my ticket Rush played the entire show 3 and a half hours Theyjust had a 30 minute breeak They were on top of their game to play songs that they had not played in ages

One of my guitar heroes. Funny he mentioned Peter Frampton, he plays homage to him in the solo for “The Way It Is”. There’s a Frampton lick in there

Very cool to hear that Frank had the same love of live albums from the 70's that I did. I'd only add KISS - Alive I & II, Thin Lizzy - Live & Dangerous,, AC/DC - If You Want Blood (You Got It!), Molly Hatchet -Double Trouble Live, & UFO - Strangers In The Night to this great list. And I have a feeling that he would have included all of these as well if he'd had the time.

Jimmy Hendricks is not the greatest

Is every rock guitarist required in these interviews to say Hendrix is the greatest??? It’s strange that some guys say this yet none of their music sounds anything like Hendrix, other than Pearl Jam I guess. Yes he was a great guitarist but the greatest? I don’t think so, way too many other great and influential guitarists - Roy Clark, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan to name a few

It's all subjective really, but even Eddie Van Halen named Hendrix as the "best". I've never been a big Hendrix guy but he did alot of stuff people just had not heard before. It's impossible to deny his role in guitar history. Whatever you heard early on, when you're 13, 14, that's what sticks. I grew up on the late 80s stuff, so of course Tesla, Hagar-era VH, etc. all that stuff. I'll say that Comfortably Numb is the greatest guitar solo ever put to tape, if I was forced to name something. I'm a huge Gilmour fan today. But I didn't give a shit about Pink Floyd until sometime in the 90s. Missed out on that whole trip. But yeah you're right, so many point to Hendrix and I go ok, absolutely. But it's not my thing either;

heavy_peace actually Eddie said he didn’t care much for Hendrix “I never really got into Hendrix. I don’t think I ever even bought a record of his.” www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/who-were-eddie-van-halen-influences-1071780/
