Honestly sometimes I forget to listen to what Frank Ocean is saying, he manages to cause so much emotion in me with just his voice. If I take the lyrics into account too it just gets overwhelmingly beautiful. What an artist.
its not really just his voice, it's the production, the musical structure etc. there's more to being an artist than just voice and lyrics, frank takes quite a large role in these other things
OFWG KTA Dude idk how, but every Frank Ocean song sounds like it’s a friend having a convo with you, being like “I know what you’re going through and I’m here for you”. Whenever I’m down, I turn on his music late at night and it’s like having a friend to talk you through things. It’s truly amazing.
Ive had my cat since i was 4 and she sleeps by my bed every night i left for college 4 weeks ago and shes stopped eating shes gotten really skinny my family are putting her down this friday Its the final piece of my childhood i feel i have left and its going Im an adult now Life is crazy right
Gavin Danaher Yeah man I didn’t have a breakup, but I still had some weird relationship issue shit (very complicated) over the summer and Blonde is incredibly important in helping me through it. I can’t possibly describe how much that album, and Frank in general means to me.
I actually avoid listening to this for long periods of time, so when I come back to it, it feels like I'm listening for the first time again. I have such a strong connection to Frank's version and it reminds of a time in my life that I long to return
This song came out on Valentine's Day of 2018, the same day as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, one of the kids who died, Joaquin Oliver, was a huge Frank Ocean fan, dyed his hair blonde, and the whole package. I remember scrolling through r/frankocean that morning to hear news about the song, and I then found out about Joaquin. So we all kind of decided this song was for Joaquin, it was such a beautiful moment of solidarity, I was so proud to be apart of that community. I just wanted to share a little insight about what the song means for me, it has a very special place in my heart, and genuinely makes me feel a way no other song ever has and probably ever will.
Hey, Jon, There is actually one more song on Channel ORANGE. Called "Golden Girl" It was only available on the CD version. Would be great to see your reaction to it. Cheers.
Wiseman is beautiful. It makes me wonder just how Frank learned so much and had the life lessons he did. He tells stories of love, how people act, how nature works and it's all from 28 years (when blond dropped) of life.
It’s such a underrated song, and for some reason I feel like not many people actually even know about that song. I stopped telling people about it and kinda just keep it for myself, makes it feel even more special of a song haha
I'm a Stoneman Douglas student and this song hits home in so many ways. It was released the day of the shooting, and one of the victims was a massive Frank Ocean fan. I sometimes wonder if he ever got to hear it. I can clearly see that many people are touched in their own ways from the song, which goes to show just how powerful an artist like Frank is.
@@maxorcism I doubt he will do an unreleased misc reaction, it's too hot on the copyright list. I tried uploading the full album (I would have been the first person to do it) but every song got banned in all countries lol. RU-vid cucking us out here...
To wrap up Frank Ocean season, react to Golden Girl ft Tyler, voodoo, and wiseman (a song that was suppose to be on Django, but Tarantino changed his mind because he said, it is too beautiful).
Kayde Howard Much better idea. While I loved Trilogy, it was tough to sit through 3 hours all at once. I think splitting it up into the 3 different mixtapes would be great.
so happy that you've become a fellow obsessive frank ocean fan. i didn't quite catch him during his lonny breaux days, but i was fortunate enough to download "nostalgia, ultra" the day it was released on the ofwgkta tumblr. that feels like a lifetime ago and i've been hanging on frank's every word ever since. i'm around your age, and i also have an eclectic music taste like yourself, and it's amazing to see you discovering frank for the first time, and reacting in the same way i do every time i hear new material from him. although not brave in the typical sense, i still think it takes a certain amount of bravery and vulnerability to allow yourself to cry on camera and then share it with the world. i watch all your reactions. keep it up, man. we need a new frank album! ps. ivy made me cry too - still does. super elliott smith vibes. how could you not?
i think you should react to this. or at least the first track. i think you'll dig it. in fact, there's no way you won't cry. the firsttrack hit me like a ton of bricks. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n6oSeODGmoQ.html
Watching this reaction felt as if I was looking at a mirror. When listening to the song I was paralysed with a calmness, rendered still in awe of the harmonies, tone and soulfulness. I was transferred to a place of life reflection and contemplation, where will I end up, what will I do, what has got me to where I am now? Those feelings are both daunting and rare - to face such existential questions all the time would be unhealthy; nonetheless it does that to me. Few songs have that power and yet it is so brilliant I constantly press the replay button. Emotionally timeless. Loved the reaction mate !
My experience with this song is really weird, I've avoided this song since it came out (came out at a point in my life where I could avoid it very easily) until a new Frank song came about, I did the same with the blonded singles and eventually listened to all as if they were and album and the experience was amazing; eventually it became very clear that no song would come out for a while so I decided that I would save it for when I really needed new Frank. Very recently I had some personal psych issues so I popped the Moon River and I have to say, this could very easily be my favorite piece of music ever.
I was just listening to this song today. It was the first time I had done so in months. Also, I absolutely love the backdrop in this video. I'm so glad you continue to do these reactions. Your reactions are so genuine and your analyses are very down to earth.
Also as a man with severe mental health problems this son makes me drift away to the times, I fell good. But also sad, awesome reaction I could feel that, been a long time follower and continuinh, good job!
I totally agree with you Jon mate! He's a genius of this generation 👏🏾... stirring up all that we have and hold within us emotionally... I was introduced to it by my youngest daughter and when my oldest daughter finally flew from the family nest... I listened to this rendition by Frank Ocean and cried til my heart's content 😢 accompanying me with comfort, sorrow, mournful and very beautiful... all at the same time in the same breath... 🙏🏾... ✌🏾 There is a song by another genius by the name of Bobby Mcferrin. It is called Peace... which is on his very first album at the age of 29! This song was the last song played at my beloved Father's funeral 😢... People left calmly and silently whilst remaining very respectful as he was a community man who cared enough about people and their well-being. A song that has an old beautiful touch whilst remaining anew with its simplicity and clarity. Sung beautifully with depth, poise and calm being humble throughout its duration. That is my suggestion brother! Smiles... 🔑o 🙏🏾...✌🏾
This song came out at a time where me and my ex first starting to get know each other and falling in love, very sentimental and beautiful song, Frank is an absolute master with these types of tracks, nice reaction man!
When this song first drop, I listened to it and was completely moved and in love Thank you for this video, living your experience vicariously has reminded me just how beautiful it is to discover this symphony.
Hey I know I'm kinda late on this one, but I just wanted to mention that Frank released this track on valentine's day, I feel like knowing this adds to the experience
Thank you John! I love your Frank videos, in fact - I only discovered you and rock reacts because a few months ago I looked up "blond review". Great to watch your channel grow and your musical taste increase. I love how quick you cover the new releases (like Babushka boy, various other singles etc) but I hope you don't push too hard! Burn out is always a problem and I would hate to see you become impassionate about music. All the best, a fan.
I found this song from Doom Patrol the show, and I cried my eyes and heart out when I saw the scene, and then when I listened to the song by itself it made me cry the exact same but not because of the scene but because it related so much to my personal life
I remember listening to this song so distinctly a couple years ago. I had broken up with my boyfriend and the next day got on a flight home to see my mom. As we were taking off, this song came on my playlist and we flew over his house. So hard not to start bawling on a public flight! Love this track so much ♥️
Jon you really need to check out wiseman aswell if you haven’t heard it already the dark undertone to the production with that voice is such an experience
It is engagingly haunting and a Melancholy Melody at the same time yet a Musical Masterpiece in every sense, Musiq Soulchild might be the only other artist that could have done an equal to this
Honestly the mashup between this and the ending of White Ferrari is so good that I forgot this version is the original haha, but god I love Frank's music. It just comes from a place of authenticity
I remember listening to this after listening to the BLOND album one day.... When it started I literally thought "come on Frank you can't do this to me again. I'm just coming off of BLOND."
There are some other Frank Ocean features and singles that you should check out. I'll list a couple that come to mind, in no particular order: - Wildfire (Reprise) from John Mayer's Paradise Valley - No Church in the Wild by Jay-Z and Kanye West - Frank's Track By Kanye West from the Life of Pablo - Memrise - Frank Ocean - Wise Man - Frank Ocean - She by Tyler the Creator - White from the OF Tapes Volume 2 - Analog 2 also from the OF Tapes Volume 2 There's also this whole other project called "The Lonny Breaux Collection", which were essentially a number of tracks Frank demoed to other artists and producers. Some of my favorites from that: - Acura Integurl - Miss You So - Rocket Love - JOB - Orion - No Bonnie I'd like to reiterate, the Lonny Breaux Collection was meant to be demos for other artist, as such it's much more traditional RnB. If nothing else, do check out Acura Integurl. There are some live performances that would be interesting to see you react to as well: Nikes - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5qKP32GYiks.html Good Guy - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jgNjn2b1Jl0.html I Miss You - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_M-haq8EFAc.html Wiseman - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2WU4DaV0yUM.html Summer Remains - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DqOSaSMslwc.html Some of the live performances (Good Guy, I Miss You, and Wiseman) have crowd voices in them. Regardless, sometimes the live version speaks to me in ways the studio version can't. Thank for your commitment to these videos. Always look forward to them. Moon River is a tough one for me for personal reasons and I needed those emotions unlocked.
