@@seanmurrayguitar Just checked it out, never heard of them before and seems like an awesome resource! I just got Analog Lab a few months ago so it's cool to see them use so many Arturia synth plugins. Cheers!
@@seanmurrayguitar Also, if you do another The 1975 breakdown, could you maybe do Sex? It's super cool with it's really distorted guitar driven sound but subtle synths that glue together so well.
Really cool stuff man! I've covered a bunch of Frank tunes, but never went near Pyramids, due to the shear amount of work it needs to make it sound just so! You done a really good job.
Cheers man! Fractal have discontinued the AX8 and I was looking for a change! Both are great. The AX8 sounds and feels maybe a little bit better right out the gate, but the price/convenience/flexibility/ease of use of the stomp makes it a no-brainer. I have some presets for the HX Stomp coming out very soon 🤘
Seán Murray thanks for the info, good to know! I never seriously considered a modeler like the HX Stomp until hearing your tones and quality. I may go that route instead of mic’ing from now on! Thanks again! Cheers!
@@LoganPrescott I still mic up amps when I can! I love amps, pedals and crafting guitar tones, but products like the Axe FX and Helix make us do that less and less. They are incredible products! Cheers!
Dude recent subscriber to your channel great stuff. But one thing you have to help me understand, Why do guitar players hate to hear the sound of their guitars. By that I mean going direct to the board instead of recording with an amp. You never hear keyboard players complaining about their sound if it’s not recorded through an amp. Or horn players, wind instruments, drummers. What is the deal, You know the direct sound IS the sound of your guitar. You know the one that you fussed over...You chose a Les Paul or a Strat or a Tele. You made decisions about what neck it would have. The pickups etc etc. But then when it’s time to record that guitar you’ve got to have it recorded by microphone and an amp. There’s countless examples of great guitar tones that were recorded with not an amp in sight, The Beatles “Revolution”, Zeppelins “Black Dog”, Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall” solo, all the Motown hits, Nile Rogers mostly used a direct sound but sometimes blended a Fender/Roland amp in. Most all Funk and R&B from late 70’s and 80’s was recorded direct. And in to an SSL console for God’s sake. Is it a macho thing???You can’t be a man if you don’t record your track with an mic and a speaker😊😊 Tell me what is it...because I really wanna know.🤔🤔
We guitarists are a funny bunch! It's a combination of many things I think. Guitar amps and speaker types have a huge impact on the overall tone. Also an amp is hugely important to the feel when playing too - depending on the gain staging, impedance, compression, etc. Also mic placement has a huge impact on the tone. Also mic choice and preamp choice! It's a culmination of so many little things to craft a great guitar tone. Why guitarists hate straight to desk? Direct tones can sound great - Nile Rodgers SSL, distorting a Neve 1073, etc, but a guitar cab naturally attenuates a lot of the harsh higher frequencies that you don't get when going straight to desk. Also impedance and pickup loading play a role. There are as many factors to crafting a great DI tone as there are with an amp and cab! I love both. Both have their uses and applications. All depends on the song! Thanks for the sub 😊
