Richard Wilson was totally corpsing there 😂😂😂 and Michael Crawford wasn't that far behind! One of the greatest sitcoms of all time... At the risk of sounding like an old man, "they don't make em like that anymore".
@@rjjcms1 Actually he didn't manage to keep a straight face. I've seen a longer version of this clip & Richard Wilson just cannot keep a straight face any longer!
Eeeeeeeee, back in my day, we knew what proper comedy was. In my day, all this were nowt but trees, but we used 'em for comedic effect, before chopping them all down and incinerating them because we thought Global Warming was what 'happened when you took a hot water bottle t' bed. You utter cabbage.
I think all three were doing their best to mask some giggles....Michele Dotrice instantly covered her face.....it was a very funny and really quite odd series. Michael Crawford really deserves huge credit for the strangeness of Frank Spencer....I always thought he created the character but it was actually written, I think he auditioned, and the rest is history.
@davidspear9790 It _was_ written for Wisdom, you're right. I seem to recall very few or no stunts in the first series. Then as the production team realised how physical Crawford was they wrote more and bigger ones.
BRILLIANT scene both really trying to keep professional. But, Richard Wilson really struggled to keep his face straight & in a serious composure. But, it didn't work. 😁😁😁😀😀😃😄😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 I am one of the very lucky people to have the entire collection of SOME MOTHERS DO AV THEM all. on DVD box collection. & I love the show Michael C such a great stuntman aswell but, made it look funny & dangerous. If anyone enjoys the show that much get the dvd collection while you can. It may not be around for availability for ever. Get it & watch it with the family or on your own & your grandchildren will really enjoy the episodes. 😁😁😁👏👍😉
Would that be Raymond on the Isle of White? He wrote it in his shed in the garden and telephoned it through to the BBC in the public box down the road i just learnt.
...and they did all their own stunts... 😀 Great show. As a kid, you watched it for 'the silly man' but as an adult, I can appreciate the writing, the comic timing and the outrageous physical comedy that probably wouldn't be allowed today due to H&S regulations.
Can’t beat the good old days, as a kid I made the mistake of eating a bowl of cereal whilst watching this program, I nearly choked because I was laughing so hard and promptly sprayed the carpet in milk and cereal. 😂
You can tell this was the first take and the audience reaction was genuine. If they did it again they wouldn’t get the same response. Unlike today where laughs are added afterwards
What they do sometimes tgese days us add the laughter from the first take to the one they actually use. What they did on Dinner Ladies, was to record each episode twice, with different audiences and use the best take for each joke. Sometimes Victoria Wood would work through the night between recordings rewriting parts of the script that hadn't got the reactions she wanted.
And , if memory serves me , the Licence Fee wasn't an issue back then , we all knew we were actually getting "something" for our money . That said , have you seen our Eurovision entry this year ?
@@a.c.4732 If others in my household didnt watch TV I wouldnt pay the licence fee. And the Eurovision entry. I saw a tiny bit. Absolutely shameful and cringeworthy. An embarrassment to Britain and more reason the Licence fee needs to be abolished
That reminds me of a story about the Goodies. A viewer wrote to them to say that her husband had laughed so hard at their Ecky Thump scene, that he'd died of a heart attack. She was writing to thank them for making his final moments so happy.
He was in far more stuff than I'd realised, and I'd seen pretty much most of it. He was never a "look at me! Look at me!" actor. I've seen some of hus Crown Court appearances tecently, briliiant.
Love the episode Frank had to wear a kilt be stand in for the Scottish dance, Hello, Goodbye, Hello, Goodbye, classic at the end when franks kilt came off
@@sallyjoan different kinds of Comedy, early only fools and Horses were brilliant then it got crap, only for Trigger I don't think that show would lasted that long should had his own show
@@MauriceCox-d9q i agree, Only Fools did go on a bit too long, it went down the pan for me when Del and Rodney met the two women, it was crap then, i liked it when it was just Del and Rodney and Grandad, or Albert.
My next door neighbour reminds me off frank spencer cant do owt right lol took radiator off wall wen sripping the walls not thinking were does the water go he eventually came out the house virtually swimming haha yeah those were the days
Wonderful. Both of them barely holding it in. I wonder whether... they'd rehearsed without the prop sofa and even though they knew what would happen as it was in the script, actually seeing it for the first time together was what set them both off? (Pure speculation on my part). :-)
@@philipsteel5024 As a member of the PC Brigade I can confirm I'm writing to the BBC about this utter filth. People having fun in a sitcom? Not on my watch matey. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
On the Buses and Are You Being Served are on daily yet this is never shown for some reason. Even the likes of Rising Damp and George and Mildred are on every week.
