Very nice, love some jazzy blues. Were you using pentatonic scales?

The blues box or minor blues scale is so predominant in many players. If you are playing an F blues, do you use the F blues scale, or the relative minor D blues scale? I know both can work but it's a matter of the A natural or Ab in the differing scales. I know that we shouldn't get stuck in those blues boxes but from a starting point curious how you think of it.
