Wherein I finally get to hear Aynsley Dunbar himself admit that he turned to much, much less demanding music after this period. I don't blame him, necessarily. If you can get 10x the money for 1/10th the work you take it every time, but it was worthwhile hearing suspicions I've held for 40 years confirmed.
Billy James is incorrect in saying that Frank had no idea or no intention of breaking up the Mothers in summer of 1968 because in May 1968 he told me that he planned to break up the group but he didn't know how to tell them because they were his friends. In the end the problems were solved by Ian Underwood rehearsing the band for Frank so he could spend his time writing new material.
Wow! This is really disappointing! The music is made to sound Zappaesque, but obviously is not the real thing. They even go as far to sound like an actual Zappa song (the first is similar to Magic Fingers). I think I would have preferred silence, since the fake stuff makes the whole production seem artificial and cheap.
I agree. The background music is very annoying. To be fair, the composer has made a decent effort at replicating the tones and textures of certain Zappa music, but the melodic lines are not very Zappaesque and there is nowhere near enough light and shade. Silence would have been better.
