I’m commenting on all your old videos as I find them. I love when the restaurant managers won’t let you move the freezer to the back. They clearly aren’t using it because it is broken but they won’t take the crap off the top. Gotta love the big M.

Good tech tip, a machinist taught me the same thing 20 years ago. Another good use for that trick is when you’re installing new schrader cores through a core tool under pressure, run the core backwards until you feel the “click” and then thread in the core, you’ll never cross thread a core again... 😁 Those Franke machines are well made, service ports, sight glass, TX valve, etc., you never see that on a cheap fridge (True?🤣)... good video, thanks!

Curious HVAC guy thanks. I’m just rebuilding a 1935 General Electric monitor top for my shop (Google it under images...). It originally used sulfur dioxide, but the old rotary compressor works well with 12, no fans on the evap or condenser....

Never heard of Franke in this area... was wondering about how new the box was when seeing service ports... they looked too good to be add ons.

Good stuff bro. Yea that Nu Brite works great. Nu Brite also have one called Blackhawk for really greasy coils and its food safe. Keep'em coming bruh. I've been watching your videos lately I feel like I'm cheating on HVACR VIDEOS😂😂

Some threads you can't hear "click" but if you apply gentle pressure and use your fingers gently you can "feel" them click. That also works if it's too loud to hear it due to other stuff going on.

Eliwell controller ! Love these , much prefer them to dixell and such , I find them very comprehensive and the documentation and manuals are widely accessible . Nice video as usual 👍

Eliwells where great when they made in Italy. Those from China fail more often.

Those eliwell controllers are the only thing we regularly have to change on Franke units. They seem to fail after 3 to 4 years. Never tested like this so thanks for the tip and a way to get by temporarily!

Thanks Andrew- these Franke units are pretty solid, I dont service a ton of them but the few I have there wasnt major component failure, just controls here and there
@amonroe812

I agree with you there! Those things run for decades. Control only cost $50 from Franke so it is one of the easiest and cheapest fixes we run into on our kitchen equipment.

Why you guys just dont change the little relay inside the controller...??? It cost 0.90$ and you could charge the time instead of changing the complete controller?!? This is what we do in plastic facilities for the heat controllers. You probably make more money.

Very nice ,holding back from the gauges... As you mentioned,critical charge of a few ounces..no sense ( introducing),adding non- condensebles to a low pressure system.. Going thru the process is a must in refrigeration. Ive seen to many techs .GAUGE UP, before doing your overall inspection.. Check electrical first,then go thru the components and process, Exactly as you demonstrated! Another thumbs ☝.. Staying the course.. Awesome.. Bryan Tyler Refrigeration

i work on these all the time...franke does make most of their units easy to work on and they have great tech support if you are a authorized service company....ever since they switched to R290 units there are alot of leaks which is not good especially when these units are next to the fryers & grills
@curioushvacguy6876

I agree there tech support is great- I dont work on them to often but I have had one or two leaking r290 units, luckily no explosions yet

hi friend i always replace the eliwell because the fst paramater is important with freezers and the fan start delay, and secondary with hot gas defrosting the evaporator fans must shut down ., and i megger amperage of the fans , sometimes the fans took 2 much amperage so de relais in the eli wel controller gone defect grrzz from the Netherlands

Another great video! Assuming they don’t have a door switch for fans in freezer? Have had many go bad or not get pushed all way in causing loss of fans. Small 4/5 prong plug on left of dixell if unplug fans should kick back in if due to that kind of issue. They get a signal from door switch or defrost termination and keep controller from kicking on fans. Love hearing your troubleshooting steps tho!

Curious HVAC guy yes. We do cold and hot side. Have over two dozen Dairy Queen’s, 50 gas stations with subways. And we take care of almost everything.

True freezers definitely use door switches to kill the evap fans.

Curious HVAC guy Justin porter on Facebook. I’m a member of a bunch of different Facebook groups yet I rarely got on Facebook these days, maybe once a week. So not very active with them. However I watch RU-vid each evening and sometimes I play it between calls.
