Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band one of two of my favorite all time concerts (from 1978 to 2023) other is Sir Elton John "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". Ringo and Company Rock The House!!! A True ALL STARR BAND CONCERT no doubt.
I wonder if Colin Hay ever thought he would be part of a band playing Frankenstein live. Or for that matter if Edgar Winter ever thought he would be onstage playing Who Can It Be Now?.
These guys are amazing. I saw them last year in the Canandaigua Arts Center. They have extraordinary energy for men of their age. Not to mention no end to the talent the display. Greg Bissonette is just awesome. It's very indicative of the personality of Ringo to get off the stage and let Bissonette have the limelight. These guys rock!
Trivia: This great song got extra airplay for years on the radio, because some stations used it to close out an hour of airplay. They'd toss on Frankenstein to fill whatever time they had. It held up well to being faded-out whenever they needed to.
This song was CRANKED UP in every Stereo Store in the 70's. Once Upon A Time, they were marketing "Quadraphonic" Sound and it was always this song they used for the Demo. Great job by the Band..damn we're getting old, Lukather is all gray now.
I remember hearing this for it's first time being radio played at it's release back in the early 1970's. What year, I can't remember. One of a kind song you never forget. John 3:16
I was lucky enough to see Edgar & Johnny every time they rolled thru Memphis in the mid 70's. Blew my Mind how absolutely great they were....So glad Edgar is still playing And with Ringo and guys to top this party off. Fabulous ❤ 😊. Love you guys . Drums are killing it!! Greg you are fantasic...😊
I remember when the song first came out the A/M radio stations played a very short version, about 3 minutes long maybe. It was that way on the 45. I didn't hear the long version till i bought the LP album.
Before "Frankenstein" hit, I had the Edgar Winter's White Trash album. It has a soulful solo piano tune called Dying To Live that shows another aspect of the man's talent. That being the 'Nam Era, it resonated among questioning hippies. He's still great
On May 19, 1973, after Secretariat and Ron T. won the Preakness, radio stations across the Nation announced Frankenstein as #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. To make it perfectly clear, the SuperHorse had a theme song which was never recognized. For the week of the Belmont Stakes when the new King was crowned, Frankenstein held fast in the #2 slot.
Saw him in2008 Roanoke Virginia. One of the best shows ever. He was killer with the same voice like back in the day. sang arpeggios and pointed to his young guitarist to repeat each line. Dude earned his money!
Cruising downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street every Friday and most Saturdays in a hopped up Ford Gran Torino GT, white with red pinstriping and intrerior, to Edgar Winter's Frankenstein!! Those were good times!
I seen him in Tahoe, sitting only a few feet from the small stage...when he was at end of the jam, he started to unhook instrument , it went into another loop playing without him... working the Ringo show next month in Tahoe outdoor finale for our year
When this came out me and my mate requested it at our youth club disco 😀 everyone just looked at each other and left the floor while my mate and I were having a great time dancing to this weird and wonderful music. I was lucky enough to see Johnny , Edgar winter and Rick Derringer at the Northrup audtorum on the University of Minnesota. Opening act was Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. My hard rock day. It was the last rock concert at the venue for 30 years(45,000 in damage to the covered seats and the bathrooms. ) Concert was great
Wow, nice! Great double bill. I saw the Edgar Winter Group back in 1973, with Focus ("Hocus Pocus") opening. Those were the days when big name bands were always coming to town, and tickets were about $10. What a great era for music.
I never appreciated what a brilliant record that was until seeing Edgar Winter in the All-Starr bands. And among other talents, he could have had a career as a jazz sax player, competing with Keeny G in the 80's.
Saw them do this last year with my 18 yr old son(huge Beatles fan) ,,, waited 2yrs cause of China !!!! Ringo was great , but this was the highlight for me (56 yr old dad) !!! Edgar was F'ing phenomenal...... It was WAY better than this one !!! No disrespect , but sometimes you just have a "night" .... and this made it all worth the wait .... Even my son knew what he was seeing that night !!! Thank you Soo much for that memory .... You really have no idea . He's away in the service now . The last before he left .... Semper Fi ....
I remember seeing Edgar and Rick at the Johnny Winters Concert at Pirate’s World at Dania Beach, Florida when Johnny Winter and …..LIVE Concert was recorded for that album. What a great concert!!!
Wow, that was awesome to watch! I was fortunate enough to see Greg Bissonette play when he was with David Lee Roth back in 91. Great to see him still performing at a high level!! He can also play piano, not sure if thats a known fact or not? I witnessed him playing piano at a hotel lounge for a girl after that DLR show. All of these guys are just superb!!
Great stuff! Massive talent and passion on that stage. I always love Edgar's opening intro to the song: it hasn't changed in years and why change a good thing?
