Huge point is..the EU will INSIST on a hard border. Is Scotland OK with that? How has Sturgeon managed to dodge that question or just wave it away when asked?

Chris just the sane as every other country manages their borders. Go check they do do it.

@@kevinmcgarrigle2539 Well I know we totally underestimated the problems the EU caused us with the Irish border and are STILL causing us. We totally brushed it under the carpet during the Brexit arguments and it has been a massive problem. Who stood up ( on either side) and said that this would be the thing that would put a massive spoke in the wheel...no one...barely discussed, and now Scotland are doing the same. The only thing that has made the EU hesitate in Ireland is that if they try and build a hard border between the North and Southern Ireland they will get literally shot at and any structure ripped down or blown up. Now the Scotts take their free border for granted but this will be the only true land border between the EU and UK mainland ( no sea in between). The EU are not going to allow goods or people to just travel back and forth Willy nilly. Look how awkward things are now going to be for trips abroad to EU. I organise school trips for French children to the UK. From October every French kid must now have a passport or visa. Before, a list of travellers was all the school needed ( kids had ID cards). I'm telling you now, Sturgeon is sticking her head in the sand over this. The Scotts should be told clearly what a border will really mean.

"To be born Scottish has been the most incredible stroke of luck throughout history", said Fraser. Er, no, I don't think so. Not before the enlightenment and definitely not before the Union. To use Niall Ferguson's analogy, Scotland in the 17th Century and earlier was Afghanistan. Murder and mayhem abounded alongside the religious persecution, superstition, poverty, hunger and disease.

Very curios to know if the rest of the UK had a vote on whether we wanted to keep Scotland in the Union, what the result of that would be.
@kevinmcgarrigle2539

Chris that is not how it works. The union is a political union. It’s legal that it was always up to the Scots to decide not the other parts of the UK

@@kevinmcgarrigle2539 I appreciate it will never happen but I was curious what the result would be. Perhaps a poll on that would be interesting. I can almost guarantee that IF the English ever voted Scotland out , the Scottish leavers would suddenly do 90 degree turn saying "oh no you don't ya English bastards, you can't get rid of the Scotts that easily". 😀

@@chrisnieto5547 Polls have shown that Scotland would stay in the Union easily if the rest of the UK decided, with a clear majority of non Scots wanting Scotland to stay. It's a bit of a silly question.

@@user-lq1wt1nh9z Clearly its not a silly question if you are correct in saying that other people have asked exactly the same question through polls. Or are they silly billy's too? Out of interest when were these polls conducted, what were the questions asked and what were the percentage results? If they were conducted pre last referendum I suggest you are the silly billy for thinking they are remotely relevant to the current situation.

@@chrisnieto5547 They weren't pre last referendum so no silliness here (not sure why you said any of that, just google it). There has been multiple in the past year and I can't really be bothered googling but there was a YouGov and Savanta one. I was saying its silly to ask what the rest of UK think and how that would affect a referendum because nobody bar people residing in Scotland should have a say and so yes, it is a commonly asked silly question usually said flippantly as an attack against independence, try not to take offense from this.

If it were up to me the UK would not exist. It would be 1 country called Great Britain, we'd all be British and the constituent parts would be mere regions of Britain differentiated by local traditions and accents, not separate countries within a union

I can honestly say I’d not be to bothered if Britain broke up into its component parts. My reasoning is that it’s the only thing that will save The England I love. Lets face it Britain was really about Money and Political Power in the first place it’s a beautiful fake but a fake none the less. It was never about Cultural or Social Identity, the ones that define who we are as people’s that went before us Ps I love the Nations on this Island more than I do the Banking and Political Powers that created Britain. The final phase of the fall of Empire is nothing I’d weep over Pps I’m more Patriotic than Nationalistic
