I find these deceptions and the associated arrogance horrifying. I see no reason why such behaviour from disgusting politicians could not be repeated many times in the future. I was equally frightened, yes, frightened, by the Lords' committee recommendation to use similar bebaviour control in the context of "net zero".

Shouldn't have made completely obvious mistakes the first time around. If goverment wasn't so big they couldnt have pulled it off. The bigger they get, the more they try and do and the bigger they fail.

We clearly haven't and aren't going to learn anything from this appalling episode. Most people won't be interested in this, they just want to move on, so will not hear and hence not learn. In the meantime, most of society are now all trotting along passively allowing the NetZero catastrophists to run the shop and mobilise project fear for their own political ends. And should you dare raise an eyebrow to express some scepticism, you can sense them getting nervous of you. Same story different clothes.

It will eventually happen again through penny pinching. Would remind that Boris abolished the pandemic response group , ridiculed Covid sweeping through Europe and went on holiday. Macron then closed the Channel tunnel and our government went into panic mode as Britain was totally unprepared.
