That quiver you hear in Martin's voice when he says "Thank you, Frasier" chokes me up every time. You can tell that it is genuine emotion on John Mahoney's part, rather than acting.
I loved this ending so much. When they're all standing there looking at Fraiser, you can see the impact he had on each of their lives and how he changed each one of them for the better. Niles met Daphine through Fraiser hiring her as Martin's physical therapist, and after years of "will they, won't they," Fraiser helped Niles finally stir up the courage to express his feelings for Daphine, eventually falling in love with each other. Martin finally got to spend time with his children, and Fraiser and Martin repaired their feelings of despondence and inadequacy towards each other, growing closer and moving beyond just father and son, to a real kinship through mutual respect. Martin also finds his second wife Ronee through Fraiser, who helped him move on and learn to love again. Lastly, Fraiser's impact on Roz is immeasurable, and they form a lasting bond and friendship even if they differ in opinions and outlook on life. I love this show for its kindness, heart, and through it all, how Fraiser saw the best in everyone around him, giving his love and support even in the times he didn't have to. We need more of that in the world today. Kudos to this show, and RIP John Mahoney.
What a sad episode. But just look at how close Martin is to Frasier and Niles compared to the first episode The Good Son.... what a way to finish a great series....Every character respected for the role they played...Brilliant actors and Talented Script writers....
This touched me deeply, more than I expected. Partly because about 30 years ago my grandma (RIP, non literate and non English speaker) said something similar which I consider one of the most important life lesson. So here I quote this again for my own inspiration and reminder:
My wife told me how good Frazier was but i had no desire to watch it. Then one day I did watch it and become a fan. It’s one of the most interesting and entertaining sit com ever. I have went through all 11 seasons and started watching them over again.
I have watched all the episodes so many times that I can practically recite most of them. Yet I still have yet to successfully watch this scene without getting teary. One day I think I may be able to climb that mountain. But not today.
I'm sad I didn't see this when it aired, but happy that I got to see it. When Martin tells him thank you I get a little teary eyed. This really was a great show.
One of the best endings of all times for a sitcom-comedy... Bravo past, cast and crew with this mammoth of a series; me and my mother"s favorite to be exact. Bravo and Brava to all involved.
The choice of poem for Frasier to recite is perfect. Also, in how it seagues from the goodbye at his house, to his goodbye...to everybody...at the station.
