About Sanford And Son: The highest-rated half-hour series in NBC history at the time, Sanford and Son stars Redd Foxx as the cantankerous sexagenarian Fred Sanford and Demond Wilson as his son Lamont, also his business partner in the family junk-dealing business. @@FrankIsAlwaysRight It's a set on a television sound stage. They're most likely fake stairs that don't go anywhere just like you'd see on a theatrical stage in a play. But you never know maybe they actually go to a second floor somewhere in the studio.
