From the 80's Channel 4 show 'The Unforgettables'
Freddie and the Dreamers were an English band who had many hit records between 1963 and 1965. They were originally from Manchester. They can also be known as the clowns of the British Invasion as they were less serious than other groups at the time. Lead singer Freddie Garrity changed his style from Skiffle in the 50s, to rock and roll in the early 60s.
"I'm Telling You Now" was released in 1963 and went to No. 2 in the UK Charts. In 1965 the song reached No. 1 in the US charts.

Freddie is just wonderful in this, in fact his voice seems to have improved with age. And his energy is extraordinary!

Freddie was the tea boy in my dad's factory in Stretford Manchester International 1960s. Dad said he was a great singer and full of life. Both sadly passed. X❤❤❤❤

Freddie Garrity was a superb singer, with a beautiful, strong voice, just as good outside the recording studio as in. There's a difference between not taking yourself too seriously, and needing to act the clown to be accepted. Freddie deserved better.

He and the band were terrific. Only wish I had seen them years ago in their heyday! So much fun to watch him and the lads charm an audience. One in a million (or more!) Those were the days.....wonderful.
