I love reading the comments for ANY you tube video of Freddie Mercury. No one ever writes anything rude or hateful in the comment section. No trolls. It’s so refreshing and is a tribute to who he was and who he remains to be in the heart of his steadfast fans and the new fans that continue to find him all these decades later.
Same! I love reading the comments too- but I only just realized that they are all so sweet and positive. I gave it no thought before...but it really is quite endearing
@@jerryx2000 what- it has nothing to do with his sexuality. his voice, his etiquette, his mannerisms, everything about freddie is so elegant and beautiful.
He looks so handsome and healthy. I am glad to have found this video. He responds to the interviewers very well, even though he disliked being interviewed. He was very polite. A real gentleman.
Oh god, Freddie was an angel, they kept on asking him the same questions over and over again and he kept calm and very polite. He was such a sophisticated man, but never boring. A true Persian Popin jay
Omg he is sooooooo gorgeous . The most gorgeous man alive then and now 29 years later . Only man I have ever loved so hard and never softened 29 years later ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It would be wonderful to believe after death they can see us, and watch over us, know we love him, I nor no one knows what becomes of us, after we leave, but it sure is comforting to think this way , if you are watching Freddie, you are so loved and missed and we all hurt for the suffering you went through before you departed, I can’t speak for others but I believe Jesus is taking care of our loved ones and are happy, healthy, and loved where Jesus has put us in our new home in heaven,
Being born in Zanzibar in a Zoroastrian Parsi well off family, living in India in his teenage years doing sports playing music, having passion for a fashion design, having a wonderful taste, being slim, healthy ,exotic look, 4 octave beautiful voice, passion in achieving his goal, friendly and generous, that’s what made Freddy a legend. The more I listen and watch the more I understand what a great performer and person he was
Very captivating.... It's 31 years after this interview and it feels like it was done yesterday. I thought I was impressed with the musical abilities but I'm finding myself more and more in awe of the man.
It happens the same to me, the more the time passes and I see other artists and other people, the more I find Freddie, the person much more enchanting than the musician. Which is a lot to say because he is on top of my list.
When Freddie does his wink, it's like he's sending love to each individual who's watching this interview. Love the fact that he sums up he is not politically motivated in his songs, that he writes about love. ♥️
Yes, He Was Gorgeous!!! Inside and out....he was also very honest in his interviews. He told one interviewer that he didn't like people like him (someone asking him all of these questions) but, he said that was part of his job, so he did it. I love him!!!!
I don't understand why people say Freddie was not forthcoming in interviews. He showed a lot of insight about himself, having a strong side and a soft side, how he can leave all his doors open and then be trampled all over, but when he's strong no one can get through. That's pretty personal and revealing. I feel that he was a very vulnerable person, and I always saw a lot of sadness. At the same time it looks like he had a great sense of humour and could be a lot of fun. You can see the burden of fame. When he says, twice, I'm just a human being. How lonely if people who meet you don't treat you like a human being. If you have to keep defences up with every new person.
Well said! I love it , cause you can imagine him looking straight into your eyes. I would’ve loved to be able to talk with Mr. Freddie personally face to face! I am in love with him! He doesn’t smile and joke around like I’ve seen him in other interviews. I feel he probably knows by this time. RIP my darling. He is such a beautiful giving kind thoughtful, and loving person. I know he is up there looking down on us, smiling.
@@samanthaoglesbee9115 He was bored doing it full stop. Freddie was very private and didn't trust people easily. Sadly he was happy with just his close friends around him end off.
23:00 i love how he says why he doesnt write "message songs" because he basically doesnt want to be a hypocrite like all the other artists who do write songs like that but go no further to actually DO and HELP the causes they preach about in their songs and afterwards go spend $6O,OOO on a fucking "necklace" or buying O4 cars they'll never drive and not donate a cent to help. he's so self aware and honest and jesus fucking christ i love this man 😭😭😭
amen!! Lennon singing and crying while riding in limos and living in a luxury building like the Dakota at Central Park. Freddie was not a hypocrite! He wrote beautiful music to lift our spirits. My husband just died and I am devastated but I've been watching Queen videos on youtube to keep my sanity.
but some of his later songs are real spiritual messages to the world!. the miracle, all gods people,innuendo... in his early songs he also touched some spiritual themes.
Something I have noticed. Freddie does not swear or use bad language if there is a female.present at his interviews. Mama Jur taught him respect & good man manners with ladies. I have laughed. richly while watching this. I love how he interacts with those watching with his wonderful expressions. We all know what he is thinking. And have you noticed his unique way of saying, inta/views ? Aren't we fortunate to have gotten to know him a bit & see him perform? He is really humble for being such a musical genius.
I love seeing him in interviews! He's so honest, and open. He's not only an amazing musician/artist/performer, but his charisma is extraordinary! I truly enjoy hearing him speak! ALL of the members of Queen are very talented. Their unique sound is unforgettable and completely recognizable immediately!
Freddie really hated interviews, but I’m so glad he did a lot of interviews because he was quite good at them. I love how he asks the interviewer if what he said made sense, or if they got all he said, he’s so considerate. This interview is great. He gets very candid and honest, and I love how he describes himself as a man of extremes.
Love this interview and listening to Freddie explain about his and Queen’s creative writing process. Freddie was so incredibly talented - no denying his musical genius. He was also such a humble, kind, beautiful person. Gorgeous eyes!! 😍
The thing that gets me most about Freddie’s interviews is how openly and honestly he answers the questions. A lot of the questions seem to be trying to trip him up and it almost feels like he’s constantly having to defend himself. A very intelligent man with a great talent.
Interview was 1985. Also if anyone watches Freddie smoke he really doesn't inhale. He doesn't blow any smoke out. I was a smoker for long time. That man keeps moaning and it is making Freddie make these faces its cracking me up
I’m confused - you say he doesn’t inhale, ie take the smoke in. But then you say he doesn’t blow the smoke out (exhale). So which is it? I think you mean he doesn’t inhale.
You can see the smoke being blown out and you can tell it's thin smoke as it's been in his lungs. So he is inhaling it. Not quite sure what your point was.
He was perfect. A witty, charismatic, talented, and gorgeous man! He passed away when I was a kid, and I just heard Queen's songs on the radio. I have never seen an interview of him. He had a sweet voice, and his eyes were so expressive. He looks so honest. He was a charming and good-looking boy. I admired him as a singer, his voice is incomparable, and his songs bring me joy and courage but now, after watching some interviews and some details of his life, I love him more as a human being. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my god...I have watched Freddie for years and every time he gets cuter ; how cute is he when they asked him about making an album with Elton John and Rod Stewart and he said "we were drunk and then we sobered up the next day". "I'll buy the record myself if that happens"
Freddie was a lot like Hendrix: amazingly confident on stage but quiet and reserved in person. The greatest ones don't need to tell you how good they are. HUMILITY.
I LOVE this! Thank you so much. I love Freddie's honesty. He's fighting shyness and impatience, but like the consumate professional he is answers every question fully, and a number of different ways while us mere mortals catch up with his smart as a whip intellect and humour. I think this is the most I've ever seen him open up about himself- telling complete strangers more than most of us would a therapist. Love his expression at 37:20 when he realises how much he's said, snaps back into his shell with a look of 'get me out of here' 💖🤣 Best interview since he grew a stache
I love how he's just over it right at the beginning as the telephone interrupts him. And the way he keeps looking at the camera kinda annoyed. Priceless. I love this guy.
So we can't find him good looking because he liked men so what and actually Freddie loved woman found them attractive but didn't like them that way so what you said is stupid 😂
This is really amazing. I have seen some bits of this interviews on various documentaries but never in full. So thank you very much for this complete gem!
Great in depth interview probably more so because of the interpreting , it truly shows where his head space was at that time in his career as a solo artist and queen member. So deeply honest and I think after about 50 ciggies later we learnt a lot about the man FM . What a shame in 6 years from this he would pass away himself and actually join the likes of John Lennon in the ether . Love dear Freddie 🥰
Those eyes, the bone structure, jawline, the way he keeps licking his top lip then presses it to the bottom lip with a slight effort from his top teeth and his complexion... so captivating!! 😍😘😗😚 This man was simply gorgeous and he had the body of an athlete/ dancer. No wonder both sexes were attracted to him and he to both! He was pure beauty..❤
Freddy Mercury is the real deal! He lives and breathes in the present moment and understand the blessings of being alive and embracing what he has. His intelligence and patience to deal with the interview and translator odd and repeated questioning is beyond a normal human’s tolerance level. Thank you for sharing this interview.
it's so sad to know while watching this interview what's coming in just 6 years...what a tremendous loss..RIP Freddie you're gone but not forgotten...love you!
15:09 Yes, Freddie... I picked up on the man's moaning, too. The look Freddie gives to us with just the smallest of smiles is the best! You can barely see it under his mustache, but take note of his ears slightly rising and that twinkle of mischief in his eyes. Oh how I love this man! LOL :D
I loved this interview. He's not "parallel to John Lennon" . . . I totally got what he was saying. What a sweet soul . . . and his voice (no words to describe his voice)!
The thing I love about watching his interviews is hearing how much respect Queen had for each other. They lasted so long because they pushed one another to do better but also respected one another enough to give each other growing room. He died when I was 6 and have just recently started listening a lot to Queen and watching his interviews. I am in love with not only him but Queen as well. When I get to Heaven I imagine seeing and hearing Freddie rocking it out up there.
I could see this interview for 100000000 time. I find that here Freddie is amazing, really relaxed and look as how beautiful he is here... He had changed my life in better... Really.. I'm 40 and l feel like an adolescent at her first love... I know that is not normal but l feel really good
1985, good year, I was born that year and 2 months old when Live Aid happened and I’m sure my mom was watching it on tv. Freddie, why oh why, are you so captivating?! I’m ga ga for Freddie Mercury! 😍 He barely gets to puff on his cig because he’s gotta answer these questions. No wonder he lights up back to back.
There's no one like him! He was so unique. It's a shame he died from Aids at such an early age!!! But Freddie himself said in an interview he didn't wanna live up to 70, but the time came too early for him. And I think everyone who loves him can agree with me. Even though I have never met him, I miss him so much! It is crazy how much I love and adore him! I love EVERYTHING about him! He's perfect to me.
Freddie will anwser the questions poignantly. He doest give one word anwsers, he takes it seriously. He hated being interviewed but if he was asked a question he put a lot of thought behind his anwsers. He was very intelligent and knew this would be forever more. The subtle things he does to show how he would really rather be somewhere else are endearing and just make me love him more. The winks, the eye rolls and the punch to to his own face are priceless. Like he famously said, I'm not going to be a Rockstar, I'm going to be a legend! And darn right he is. Here we are 29 years after his death still talking about him. Watching every video we can get our hands on. I really think true Freddie fans ( someone said to me not long ago I heard you are a major Freddie Mercury and of course a Queen, fan. I said oh yes!! They said I am too. I thought awesome someone to really talk to about everything. I said his 1981 live version of Somebody to Love in Montreal was amazing, they looked confused so I took it to the one everyone knows and loves, I said what did you think about Live aid? What was your favorite part or song, again they looked at me lost. Freddie fan my ass. They said yeah, I just love Bohemian Rhapsordy, not mispelled, To be honest I kind of wanted to lean in and say your no fan at all.) but us true Freddie fans see more than an incredible voice, the crowd control, the way he moves on a stage. We love him in his quiet moments as well! My Mom, who was also a huge Freddie fan, and I used to say wouldn't it just be great to be best friends with him sit on his bed with his cats and just talk like true friends do. Unfortunately my Mom passed away very suddenly at the age of 60, in Febuary. I am destroyed but I know her dream of being his friend has most likely come true. My Mom was incredibly caring, she only judged people on one thing, how they treated others. I believe her and Freddie are great friends as my Mom was just his type of person! ❤❤
I love it when he says that the song goes first and whenever a song needs something old-fashioned in it, he'd just do it, for the sake of the song. The attitude which is so terribly missed nowadays. Everyone just goes with the flow and many bands now sound much worse than in their early days, only because they do it the "modern way" instead of doing it "the right way." I mean, why reinvent the wheel if something is just good and has been working fine ever since?
It is incredible the way he accepted the burden of his fame. "People think I hog everything", "onstage I come across as arrogant and people think I am like that all the time" ; all of it said without any bitterness at all
On the contrary, I found the questions to be really good. It's just that the interviewer's English wasn't that good, but this is by far one of his best given interviews ever.
Thank you 👍 This is gem-one of the best if not The Best interview Freddie Mercury had ever given. Full of insight details about the band, the song writing, his lyrics, and about his On-off stage persona... On top of all, there're so much humour in it. I LOL many times. Freddie's many nuance expressions shown he's in a very relax mood; taking time giving his interviewer candid answers. When the Japanese girl wasn't sure about an English word, Freddie gave it a subtle hint.😅 What a true gentlemen. The legend. Love Freddie more the more I know him 💔
Wonderful interview, thank you very much! I love his expressions, and how he reacts to every answer he gives. And you can see he was trying his best to be patient, but sometimes... hahahahaha. Yet he was very gracious and open. Loved it, glad to finally find this interview *uncut*, this is such a gem, thanks again
Freddie Mercury was a musical genius, a true gentleman, kind, thoughtful, loyal and so well spoken. A beast on stage, a beauty off stage. I will always love you.
"Is that all he asked you? And I went through this whole damn thing." Such shy sweetness, you look in to the camera and then down so shyly. "Well, there you are, you have it on tape." Freddie, I promise you darling, no one would ever tread on you if I was anywhere near. Your heart is beautifully tender and sweet and I would destroy them if they tried. Miss your wit, your kindness and humor, my dear. Always thinking of you until tomorrow. 💛
Dearest English speaking fans / friends (British people or American or something like that) tell me please what special accent Freddie Mercury had or didn't have... thank you all!
@@anno.domini It's been said Freddie's accent was more British than people born there. He was educated in a British boarding school so his accent was very English but with a tiny bit of an Indian and Persian influence as well. His accent was posh/higher class Englishmen mostly.
@@carolynm8421 Dearest friend, Exactly my thoughts! It's so kind of you! Thank you for answering all my questions in such a timely manner! May God bless you! With much love from Russia❤🙏
awww , ohmygod , he was so embarrassed at 37:14. he was so embarrassed about how vulnerably honest he was and put so much passion into what he *THOUGHT* the question was referring to. 😅 he was so embarrassed about how open he was and went into that entire spiel about him being so 'soft' at the right time. i however thought that was the cutest fucking thing. and how he got so shy and covered his face a little , wishing he could just hide away. LOL. but it was the perfect answer because now we all get to see the real human , sensitive side of this beautiful soul and for O5 minutes , all of us escape from our problems into him. even if just for a minute. it's okay freddie , babe. 😚 god , is it possible to miss someone so much whom you never even MET and died years before you were even born? 😭😭😅 *i just wanna' hug him!* *i just wish i could hug him for one minute. so bad. i would make a devil's deal just to hug this beautiful man and tell him thank you , and i love him.* 😖😪💙
Freddie Mercury, Was A Very Intelligent, Kind, Talented And A Very Blessed Human Being!! He Loved Being A Perfectionist and An Extraordinary Musician, Because This Was His Life!! But He Also, Had His Own Personal Life To Live As Well. You Were And Always Will Be Loved, Freddie. Your Spirit Remains, And You Know How Much That You Did For The World!!! I Can Picture You Still Singing, and Entertaining Many People!! You're Still Rocking Your Energy!!!! And All Of Us Fans, Have Your Very Special Memories In Our Hearts Forever!!! Be At Peace, Darling, Wherever You Are In The Afterlife. You Were And You Always Will Be, The Legendary King Of Queen, Forever!!! 👑💓 From the USA 💖🇺🇸 June 12, 2022
I think this is my favorite FM interview. He was so gracious and polite, despite all the repetitive questions and rude interruptions that were wasted on him. ❤
I love listening to him,as he so interesting and intelligent. His vocabulary is immense , yet he doesn't seem to be condescending. He looks bored in this interview.
He is/was the worlds greatest rock star living or dead!! Total legend who is sadly missed. I love the heavier Queen songs. Metallica do an awesome version of Stone Cold Crazy and should do more Queen covers! :)
35:58 i don't know why him saying he can be a real baby just makes my heart melt. i wish i got the chance to love him. because I'm the same way and I WOULD NEVER HURT YOU, FREDDIE! 😚💙💙💙
Keep watching, again and again. How handsome he's, that incredible look, eyes, face, voice. How lucky person could be if he loves you. We need that man!!!!
