Very nice interview from 1985. This was during Queen Works tour.
The quality is not very good but it's the most complete version there is.
Enjoy

For all those who put Molly down, Freddie rarely did long interviews yet he did 2 with Ian (Molly) Meldrum. He and Molly got on well and this would have been one of the reasons that he took the time out to do this interview for Countdown. Plus, both were gay and mixed in similar circles and had friends in common like Elton. Molly is no nonsense and doesn't try to 'please' in his interviews. He is also very interested in the music in all his interviews, not shitty gossip. I think Freddie liked that. He is way more relaxed than in other interviews I have seen and spent the entire day with the Countdown crew.

It would have helped him, actually. Professional vocal lessons make your voice better, not worse. Don't get me wrong, he had a great voice and I was a big fan of his, but, as he admitted himself, he was misusing it and that's why he was getting nodules on his vocal chords and couldn't speak at times.

Freddie is one of the uniquely gifted ones. If anything, he could've benefited from vocal coaching, as opposed to straight-up teaching. Coaching helps refine and maintain what you already have. You need teaching when you're first learning the techniques. Freddie's voice is hypnotic, speaking or singing.

He just focused on giving the best he could for the people that loved Queen. He was the Queen of talent and the band were great 👍. This band really had a true friendship that was not made of dishonesty, mischief, or a kick on the back. They were a true BAND. God Blessed you Freddie. 7.34 min Freddie needs a Vodka and Tonic, then both Freddie and Molly light up and smoke during the interview...this is pure gold. Poor Molly his joke at the start was awkward, still Molly is an Aussie legend!

Sadly the quality is really bad. But its Freddie Mercury, he doesn't need good quality to be fancy :D

The days when cigarettes and booze was the norm. Ya know real life. Today seems like no stars drink or smoke because the WOKE brigade thinks its a bad influence on the young. Your joking the young do more drugs that these stars. There so out of touch with the real world. 😂 😂 😂 😂

So great to see the whole thing! I've seen pieces of it but of course I want to hear every word Freddie said. He really got such a great sense of humor. The parts with "Simon Ferocious" and "they ran into their frocks" makes me laugh every time. 😂 Also he's kind to other people and humble when it comes to himself (although he really is Gods gift to mankind! Imo👌) Thank you so much for finding and sharing this video!

I always was amazed as a kid how quietly spoken Freddie was in interview: totally the opposite to his loud onstage presence. Brian May is exactly the same. Meldrum always seems very awkward though.

What an excellent interview!. Like others I've only seen snippets of this but the full interview gives you insight into Freddie''s thoughts about Queen which is in perfect harmony with the other band members he conveys their individuality the cohesiveness and their love for the group and their fans.On what he thinks about critics "I don't give a damn about them" hit the target "Its the public that buy our records they're important" Bang on! His thoughts/answers to all Mollys questions. I especially loved the off camera banter where Freddie's looking for drink refill Molly accedes puts Freddies order in then wants a scotch & coke himself haha then Freddie offers Molly a cigarette like they're mates ( prolly are/were) pure gold!, also loved how Freddie ended with self labelled "musical prostitute" bloody brilliant this is a trip down memory lane for me the whole interview is A++++ enjoyed this from beginning to end wonderful Cheers!

Freddie's last time in Australia.. They played sports arena type venues in the 10,000 seat range. Multiple nights in Sydney and Melbourne. Maybe only 100,00 Aussies at the most got to see this legendary act for the last time..

I wonder if anyone knows if Aretha Franklin ever acknowledged Freddie of any kind...Perhaps an interview she may have done in the past, liking the fact that Freddie viewed her as one of his favs...or anything. I like that she worked with George Michael, but to have had her and Freddie pair together!! oh my 🎶🎶🎤🎵🎤🎵🎶

It's nice to hear the Simon Ferocious story in its entirety. People were making it seem like Freddie bullied him. He was actually very kind and friendly. Could you imagine how badass a Pistols and Queen collaboration would've been? It's the Pistols that were narrowminded and too good for anyone who wasn't like them. The antithesis of punk.

He said "Aretha Franklin, I love her to death" when speaking about the music he likes to listen to. I'm kinda glad he never got his wish to sing with her. I like them both and if it had not worked out I would be devastated. Freddie did great collaborating with Montserrat Caballe'. I'll forever cherish that.
