State of Shock was recorded from 1983 - 1984 SO I WAS RIGHT about the pop style of the song! Believe it or not, this genre was considered hard rock for its time. Of course, now it would be considered pop from a younger generation's view point. State of Shock was released on June 18th of 1984 and was written by Michael Jackson and guitarist, Randy Hansen. The song later charted at #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100!
