Abraham Lincoln is revered as America’s abolitionist president, but his thoughts about ending slavery were far from ideal. It would take the steady influence of the abolitionist movement and one of its leaders, Frederick Douglass, to guide Lincoln to becoming “The Great Emancipator”. Douglass was himself born enslaved and through the power of education became a giant that influenced American history.

In 1850, long before he met Douglas, as a junior congressman from Illinois, Lincoln drafted a bill to abolish slavery in the District of Columbia. He got no support for the bill and therefore changed his strategy for putting an end to slavery. He learned that he had to play the game of politics to achieve his goal. This simplistic video does not portray this or do his political strategy, developed over decades of trial and error, any justice.

Critical race theory (CRT), intellectual and social movement and loosely organized framework of legal analysis based on the premise that race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings but a socially constructed (culturally invented) category that is used to oppress and exploit people of colour. Critical race theorists hold that racism is inherent in the law and legal institutions of the United States insofar as they function to create and maintain social, economic, and political inequalities between whites and nonwhites, especially African Americans. Critical race theorists are generally dedicated to applying their understanding of the institutional or structural nature of racism to the concrete (if distant) goal of eliminating all race-based and other unjust hierarchies. Clearly the author of this video has completely disregarded Lincoln's last public remarks a few days before his assassination and Mr Douglas's 1876 speech on Lincoln.
