Now ive really done it! Please help if you can.... I did a clean on my Dell 15 using command prompt. Tried to install lubuntu from disk and changed my mind, shut down and went on using the try lubuntu. I then went to disk and decided to format entire drive. There were three options, i chose the Intel option and in spite of the warnings that it cant be stopped i continued. The laptop froze up and I powered it down. Now the entire laptop is locked and i have never created any passwords. I need the admin password for service tag # . Of note our entire house is hacked and i saw a virtual keyboard coming and going on the launcher and panicked and powered down.... Of note i had the bios set to eufi safeboot with legacy options. This is the first time i have used secure boot so not sure if it contributes.
Well I guess its sort of the same situation here... Bought a Dell latitude off ebay for a steal, got it and a admin pswrd is keeping me from making any BIOS changes... BUT... i am sending this from the laptop itself... im able to use it by typing Reset into the admin pswrd spot but the same doesnt work in the BIOS section... so ill ask if maybe you can help?? Some units only require pressing after password, some require pressing + after password and some by pressing once or twice? Some require u to hold down the Ctrl key and press enter twice, some will only work with the Ctrl key on the right side of the keyboard, not the left side.

Jamie, on the screen that says: Password authenication system, does it show a system # that has 7 digits/number combo then -595B, or 2A7B or something like that? Also look on the bottom of the laptop for a b label with that info? Also how old is your laptop?

eriLONDONER, if it's your windows password then you need to download and burn yourself a windows password reset cd. Konboot is a good one to use. Just google it and you can find the download and instructions on how to do it.

Jerrys, your system disabled code indicated a Phoenix bios which can be a difficult to crack. Bear with me while I run that code and see if I have any luck with a good password. Dell mini's can be tough if possible at all. I'll post back if/when I get u some possible passwords to try,OK!
