In todays video we do a basically free mod to my Chevy Silverado that really wraps up the entire exhaust setup! This super easy mod makes it much louder at low rpm and decently louder at all rpm!
@@97JoMiller so on the outside where the exhaust damper is located you will see a spring. This spring works off exhaust pressure to move the damper that’s in the exhaust air stream. You can twist this spring with your hand but it will spring back to closed. I grabbed some rubber tubing 1.25” long and cut a slit down the center of it. You will also need a stainless steel worm gear band that can get pretty small. Take the cut tubing and place it over the spring and do the same with the band. Actuate the spring by hand to where the exhaust damper is open. Then tighten down the band onto the rubber tubing and this should hold the spring in place and the damper open. Is that what you were asking for?
I could listen to that aaaaaalllllllll day. Thanks for this! I'm going to try opening my flapper valve. I'm still running stock exhaust, bc I married a city girl. I don't like taking her Pilot, so I don't want her to hate taking Sierra. Truthfully, I actually like the stock exhaust with the 6.2, and I think the flapper will help keep the cold start sound.
I just installed the borla xr1 sportsman muffler on my 2021 Silverado z71 rst. I cut out the flapper and just put aluminum heat tape on the resonators. The truck sounds like an absolute beast!
I did a muffler delete to include the flapper valve on my 2020 5.3 and it sounds good. Not obnoxious but way better than stock. I get a lot of compliments on it.
any drone? I've been thinking about doing the muffler delete but have been hesitant because I don't want the truck to be obnoxious or a crazy drone in the cabin since we take it on trips when playing with mud toys.
@@97JoMiller I always have music on so it’s not bad. But even w no music it’s not too bad. Plus muffler delete doesn’t make your pipes too loud and obnoxious. It makes it noticeably louder than stock. It’s the right level of sound for me.
I have a 2018 GMC with the 5.3 and have it y-piped at the first cross member, 3rd cat is gone along with the flapper valve and 2 Carven R series mufflers and she sounds right.
If you pull your gear stalk (lever) in between park and reverse the ecm thinks its in gear but it isnt and you can free rev into the limiter, imo the rev limiter sounds horrible when people just bang off of it. Damn good sounding truck btw, i did a full exhaust from the manifolds back no catalyst no resonators and no mufflers. It does piss people off with the noise but i enjoy the sound. And its not bad at all with the afm still active, minimal drone.
Is the Factory warranty up? All the trouble with the GM 4 To 8 cylinder cam lifter collapses is just a 5k problem they won’t cover an blame it on the exhaust modification you have done! I have a 2019 6.2 Yukon Denali with Borla exhaust! Sound Great BUT just beware of any warranty problems!
To rev higher than 3k rpms, press your break and then move the shifter down to where it says it’s in reverse but at the same time it’s not and then you can rev out to the limiter, works in my 2017 Chevy so maybe it’ll work in your truck.
Do you get that clunk sound from drivetrain if you let off accelerator at low speed, like in a parking lot. My 17 6.2 8 speed is terrible about that if you let off the gas

Flow master American thunder setup. Went that route myself on my 2021 Sierra 1500 and it sounds great! However the DFM is very noticeable and I gotta get that fixed.

I just put a muffler on my truck carven r and once dfm goes on it sounds like nothing is there. If I did a muffler delete would I still have sound vs have a muffler on there? Or will I lose sound regardless
If I did it without the muffler delete. Would it be slightly louder, but not as loud as yours on a 2022 6.2? My factory is quiet to quite, but out of respect for my neighbors I don't want to be full out glass pack like sound at 4am when I leave the house.
Over the years I've had most every brand on my trucks including straight pipes. I have a 2018 5.3 with ATAK out the sides and I freaking absolutely love it! Best exhaust ever!
No it’s not. My 2021 has true dual straight pipes and I live in SoCal IE area, I NEVER get fucked with by cops. It’s the cold start that pisses ppl off but after it warms up it sound perfect

How are you liking the mid range power. Do you find yourself always having to punch throttle. Jba headers I used on my 6.0. I think you should swop the cam that way you can get more torque.
Hold shifter in between park and reverse ( will trick computer into thinking it’s in reverse but will not go into gear) then rev lightly to make sure it’s free spoolin and let her eat

I got a brand new LTZ and I got the multi flex tailgate and I traded mine off for a regular tailgate with the stamp Chevrolet that way I could run the rally sport straps on it cut my exhaust… Anybody else done this

Have to remove both Cats or catalytic converter. Basically how straight pipe really is. Controls more sound with emissions. Which would be illegal if cop sees them gone. You here Chevy clap more on older truck built in the late 90’s.
@@feldersartin2739 No with cats it helps reduce that clapping sound. Unless you have less than 2 inch diameter metal pipe around on a old Chevy truck. Possibly could clap than.
