What a wonderful video. Enjoyed every minute of it. Especially the very end when you showed the pigs having a good time being outside and enjoying the sunshine. I am SO excited that you're getting ready for the big build! Can't wait to see Billy get to go outside!! :))) Love seeing your excitement over all the busy things coming up that you have to do! :)) You're whole minion of followers are right there with you, Pete!

Bummer about the spreader, Pete. I wanted to thank you for being so kind to our daughter and son-in-law last weekend at the market. They had a chance to meet you and buy some things (bacon-which was incredible!; eggs-also incredible-and a ham which we will enjoy here at home before too long). Your kindness to them, Pete, was generous and much appreciated. It meant a lot to them. Thank you! There is a ton of work involved with the spring time and you certainly will not be lacking in that category-but it's all good work, life-giving work. And your plans for the addition are exciting. You have a beautiful farm, Pete. Always grateful for your videos-I know they add a lot of time to an already busy day. But they are always one of the highlights of mine. Hope you all had a blessed Easter-and thanks again for your kindness!

Hey Pete! Fun story! For the last 4-5 years my wife and I have been looking to start a new life far away from the city. I was born in a country town and miss the quiet and the hard work. We've been looking around the country, but never found anything that fit our desires, until about a year ago we found your channel and fell in love with NY. Since then we've been looking all over for our own few acres and now today we just signed all the paperwork on our own place about an hour from you! It's our absolute dream property and I can't wait to put into action some things you've already taught us! Hope to see you at the farmers markets and equipment auctions once we've moved! Thanks for all the amazing content!

Great video, Pete, thank you. As a first generation farmer, I find a lot of wisdom and insight watching your videos. Last year I bought a used muck spreader and just this week I got to use it for the first time. I tell you, now, I finally understand why there’s always a smile on your face when you’re spreading muck. There’s something special about the feeling that you are giving back to the land so that it can keep feeding you and your animals into the future. It’s a wonderful symbiosis to feel a part of. Have a great day. Greetings from Sweden.

For your new barn addition, have you considered not bringing in fill and leaving it lower compared to the hay barn? You could roll or dump bale's directly through the wall, and would have more height to build up a bedding pack. Bonus to turn the winter batch of pigs into it for a week after the cows first venture onto grass. Always nice videos, funny that Hillary made the same joke about the pigs eating out of house and home!

In the german village where i was born, there was this tale: A man had to disassemble his timberframed hoghouse, because the pig didn´t fit through it after feeding. And they couldn´t slaughter it inside the small shed. That was back in the first years after WWII, when food was short and they used the pigs to recycle every calory hey got their hands on. So kitchen-scraps, low-quality food an residue went straight to the pig pen.

At the dairy farm I worked at they had a problem with the spreader's apron chain. It had been a bad week and he didn't want to fork the manure out so he wrapped a chain around the axle and used the loader tractor to tip the spreader on its side.
