I guess Im asking randomly but does someone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Justus Andre thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@@yevheniysoshka currently using resistance tubes, unfortunately it doesn't work for me on all exercises. On a lot of exercises like squats, chest press and bicep curls i prefer weights. Just ordered a pvc weight kit, shall start using it from tomorrow.
@@baothachtruong9118 Did you watch the video? A lot of possibilities to make it harder and produce a fair ammount of resistance. ESPECIALLY if you're starting to workout and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for eq or gym
I've been training exclusively with bands for 14 months straight, I've put on noticable muscle mass throughout my whole body, especially my upper body. The key to bands is learning how to get the maximum resistance out of them, where to grab them and how to stack them for peak muscle contractions. I stack an entire set of 4 bands for front squats and 3 for deadlifts and it's a killer. And depending on how far apart you step on the bands for deadlifts it can become ridiculously hard real quick.
@@christhesavage4663 good economical options but they typically don’t have the resistance you need for serious muscle growth. Look at Serious Steel for Bands you can double over to lift over 500lbs of resistance but the bands are pricey
@@rajdeepmandal4523 definitely do but for people that don't have a whole room for equipment and don't like to go to the gym it's perfect. Also if you suffered a tendon injury like tennis elbow this is the only way to go in my opinion and my physical therapist opinion.
They won’t tear and smack ya lol, super big in size , u can tie knots without worrying it’ll rip to make it shorter . And price wise it’s modest . Many good quality brands are within $1-$3 give or take . And I think his is one of the best
The one thing I believe that you missed and is very important is the lack of injuries with the bands. I’m a veteran 65 years old and I was lifting weights until I injured myself so bad that I ended up at the VA hospital with a torn muscle of some sort from my back all the way up to the front side let’s say. I ended up in therapy for over two months and with stretching and bands I was able to get back in shape. I continue now with only bands. The one thing bands have especially over weights is that you can increase your bands without really worrying about injury. I know people that increased weights too fast or jerk them up when tired and end up getting injured. Like me! Good job on your videos.
True, as a beginner I started with 15 pounds free weights and injured my shoulders like 3 times in a year, switched to 15 pounds bands and I haven't had an injury ever since
I've been using bands for 6 months, I'm completely sold. When the gyms reopened after lockdown I haven't even gone back. I've made more gains than I did in the last few years at the gym. Plus my tennis elbow has cleared up. I think variable restance is the main benefit. You can work the muscles much harder and get a pump unlike anything else
I've had tennis elbow for the past 6 months and recently decided to start exercising again with the bands I bought but never used. My tennis elbow pain is barely there now only few weeks in. Its insane how all the stretches didn't do a thing but the tension from the bands helped damn near instantly. I thought it was all in my head haha
Bands are killer workout tools. I started using them recently, exclusively, and they brought fun and convenience back to training for me. I can easily train 4-5 times a week now, whereas before I was lucky to train twice a week when possible. Granted I have a couple of high and low anchor points at home which make them even more versatile, but even without anchor points, you can train the whole body easily and effectively and safely. Love bands.
My fav aspect of this system is lifting solo. You don’t have to rely upon a training partner, and training to failure doesn’t present any dangers. I can push to complete failure and don’t have to worry about dropping a weight or tearing something.
@@jobro95 Even a truck can be destroyed with sufficient force placed on it. Everything is destructible. Know their limits and do not over stress them, and they will not break.
This guy is the absolute best at teaching how to use bands properly to train. I've noticed recently a significant increase on band related exercises on RU-vid by others, so that's saying something.
I started using resistance bands way back when they were springs (old skool). There’s a clear bias against bands by muscle heads. Bands have been more accepted in recent years, and this virus/home workout trend will put them over the top. Home workouts are great, as many will now find out.
beasts_and unicorns James said from the start that he trained exclusively with resistance bands for a year and a half. Ignoring his presentation of his comparison between resistance bands and weights, just look at him. The man is jacked. It’s not a scam. What you eat and how much effort you put into the workouts can give you similar results. I’m using resistance bands now and I can tell you that they work.
I purchased bands at the end of March. I already had a chin/dip station. I thought I'd lose muscle, but that hasn't been the case at all. I really don't have much of a need for a gym if/when they reopen, other than the social aspect. Just happened upon this video and now will look at his exercises!
I've been using weights but have been trouble with my shoulders clicking and general weakness. I tried a resistance band that my wife had, doing some shoulder exercises and I found they were a lot more effective on my shoulders compared to the weights and I wasn't getting as much discomfort during the exercises. I also found a lot more burn in the actual muscles that were meant to be targeted by the exercises compared to free weights. So we bought a few more high quality resistance bands and I've already tried them and love them!
Thank you very much, I came here knowing almost nothing about res. bands, and you enlightened me, and gave me the curiosity to look into them more, in such a short amount of time!
I am totally into resistance bands right now. I had a shoulder and nerve issue that a lightweight resistance band fixed. Now I use a heavier band for resistance strength training, right after I do my running for CV.
I am 62,retired,,this is great advice,,I have been doing cardio almost every day,,fasting 18 hours doing keto,,I want to lose 35 more pds,I have hit a plateau,,I went from 297 pds I am now 200 pds,,would like to get down to 175,,I hope I can figure out how many calories vs protein I need to take in...thank you James Grage.
This is a really great video. Great knowledge and explanation of key points. I live in Hawaii by the ocean and constantly have to battle the salt water with my iron weights and gym set. Over time, they're just rusting. This solves that problem. Thank you for your video.
Believe me, I got both resistance bands and free weights a.k.a dumbbells. Trust me as I say this with pure honesty: Even though both of those things have their advantages except one of them have its own disadvantages as well, I gotta choose resistance bands as the true winner of gaining killer pumps. 💪🏾😊
I'm with you! The pumps (aka "metabolic stress) are insane with bands, which in itself leads to muscle hypertrophy. That will be the topic of the next video.
Just started getting into weightlifting during covid lockdown. I borrowed some free weights from a friend and been skeptical of resistance bands. However this video has sold me
He uploaded that video on his channel and that is when I purchased my bands, I am still waiting for them to arrive and I am pumped. Thanks James, awesome content.
Bands have come a long way. They helped keep me sane while my gym was closed for covid. Of course travel is a given. Hotel "fitness centers" run the gamut from glorious to a beaten up treadmill and push up stand.
James your you tubes and bands are absolutely awesome! I have purchased your band package and have learned so much along with doing my RBT! Thank you especially in this pandemic!👍💪
i am completely sold on resistance bands. perfect cause i dont have a car to get to the gym and i cant afford to buy a shit ton of free weights. plus imma boxer and these points sound really good
Resistance bands are not to be shrugged off, with bands that go up to 200 lbs of resistance you could easily overlap 3 of them and hit 600 lbs. Hell you could always tie or grab the bands differently to create a shorter distance that will give you the lock out resistance at the beginning of the lift.
I’m here because I’m cheap but it’s good to know your can have so much benefits from using bands... I was afraid it would be inferior to going to the gym or user heavy weights. I’m subscribed!
That was a really great explanation of the difference between bands and weights. Any recommendation for someone over 60 just starting out? I started with dumbells and now do bands on in-between days. I've been thinking of just doing the bands, and your explanation is leading me in that direction. Are there any good plans like a 28 day or 14 day plans for resistance bands, especially for older people? Thanks if you have time to answer.
I'm 60 now...been lifting etc for over 45 years...for over 30 years i have believed bands are very good... its just a matter of learning to use them... i just purchased a purple band and a green band and the quality of these bands is incredible... soooo many ways to set them up...also injuries are barely even possible unless a band lets loose and hits you... I have a home gym full of weights and i may just stop using them completely... i am going to pickup up maybe another couple of bands so i have many more resistance options...years ago i was going to build a special bench with various anchor points to attach bands... now that i am pretty good with welding i think its time to build my bench... Bands are incredible for building maxium muscle in fastest time imo...the key is making the right adjustments... $100 worth of bands could replace all your weights..
I'm 4 months in using resistant bands after suffering tennis elbow in both arms. It was so bad I was completely out of any type of activity for 8 months. My grip strength was at 50. Average male is around 100. So yea I was weaker than the smallest weak lady out there Now in the first 3 months of using the bands I took it easy for fear of reinjury took some lazy breaks lol. The 4th month I'm taking it more serious and have regain my prior strength. I could have probably gotten back to normal in 2-3 months if it wasn't for the injury. It's worth noting I use therabands without handles the wide ones not the tubes or loops. I've switched to handles recently and will be buying the tubes or loops next. Bands definitely work especially for tendon injuries.
Been using resistance bands during COVID at home and my core has never looked or felt as strong. Lost 12 pounds so far looking forward to every work out.
Arin Robinson if you watch the eccentric movement speed and do some iso holds at the top of the movement I think they are even better. There is no cheating the band.
I've been using bands for 2 months now. All i can say is THEY ARE AMAZING. The only thing i miss are deadlifts with free weights :/ For some reason i couldnt manage to do deadlifts properly with bands :/ Either my hands go hurting even with gloves on, or i dont feel the resistance that much. However, during these strange times, band is the way to go!
I put myself in the ground and train with resistance band, which is very good for my spine and my back. Could you please share some exercises in horizontal position? Best regards and thank for your channel.
I like resistance bands, and I like dumbbells. To be honest though, like he said, bands are weaker when they are not tense, so at the beginning of the exercise. Sometimes the tension/resistance simply doesn't feel enough at the start of the exercise. Imo it's good to combine the two, but resistance bands are not a secret solution or magic potion. It's good to have both
I have been geting into bands lately. The X3 Bar all over Facebook, gave me the idea to get the loop bands (stackable) and I found the Bionic Bar which was $20 compared to $500. You can see what "weight" your lifting,,the bands are rated. It may not be exactly like free weights, but it seems pretty similiar if you have decent bands. I like them. Im Old School so Free weights will always have a place for me. Im trying to split it up. 2-3 Days a week (am) Free Weights for an Hour Basic exercises. 2-3 Days a week PM (Bands and Total Gym), im 51. I like the Variety
Hey Chris. Like you, I grew up in the gym, so I can relate. I happen to like training with bands exclusively but like you said, you can incorporate them with whatever you're doing - both for variety and also as an intensity booster.
Resistance bands are good to use their light to carry on their don't take too much on your luggage. Please show more videos on type exercises can use. Thank you for sharing.
I have been training for +2 years with perfect diet and everything. Never used a band. Today I won a free lesson from a trainer and he only let me use bands. My shoulders are absolutely destroyed and I never felt my back while training like this EVER! 10/10 gonna get me some bands, no joke. Also had nagging shoulder pain on incline bench and after training with the bands, I tried inclining. First time in months I didn't feel any pain. Holy shit
Great video and very helpful! I am constantly traveling and now I can buy those RB and carry them with me everywhere, which of course with the free weights is impossible. Really appreciate the value of this information!
what I did start using is a strong stick that serves as a bar. Much easier for instance to do curls, overhead push ups or dead lifts. If I don't use that stick it's very hard on my hands which means I have to either take a lighter band or use some more length to decrease the tension.
Henri Fischer I did the same thing for deadlifts. I had a hard time keeping my grip with just the bands so I took part of an old curtain rod and used that as my barbell essentially. I feel it like crazy in my lower back since doing this, maybe even more than a normal barbell deadlift.
You can't outtrain a bad diet... I learned that the hard way training so hard and having poor results. Then I started following the Agoge diet, and I finally started seeing some great results.
35lb bands is the same as 35lb free weights both build muscle. I always keep bands in my travel bands because I can take them anywhere and workout anywhere.
My personal preference is resistance bands for Arms and weights for everything else. I find myself getting injured too often pushing hard with weights on biceps.
I use a hook scale to measure my resistance band when I do my lift but they always take time to anchor and set-up plus the more worn out the resistance band gets the less resistance it proved so I usually just use weight-lifting chains on my free weight exercise like my Barbell because A I can measure the total weight of those chains on a simple bath room scale and B Weight-lifting chains last longer then resistance band.
If you buy the ones on james grages website (undersunfitness) there made out of material that keeps them from wearing out easy. There kinda pricy but all the bands togheter have 325 pounds resistance, there only like 79 bucks for the whole set up vs buying a 300 set of weights (not including dumbells or bench press ) is like 299-over 300 dollars. And there portable.
