This interview with William was great fun - picking apart the sport of freediving and his competitive career. He and I initially met in 2007, when he told me my No Fins technique sucked and it was a miracle I could dive so deep and come back alive, and gave me the nickname of Mighty Mouse. Of course we have been great friends ever since!
His career has been plagued by injuries and equalisation problems but he finally claimed his first World Record in Variable Weight with a stunning dive to 145m in 2013. He was also the first person to swim No Fins through the Arch in Dahab.
While he continues to have one eye on competition and further records, his focus is very much on The Waterman Project, which you can find out more about in my first interview with him.
