All your Gundams are belong to us. - Lacus Clyne, probably Kakarot’s notes: - As with the GUAIZ and Dreadnought Development History video, Latin names are pronounced the Latin way I was taught (I slipped up on Balaena though) - The segment at 09:28-09:45 is me giving my explanation for Kira’s canonical godlike status. (And it was the perfect way to show off a much better candidate for piloting the Strike Freedom) - 0:52: Unlike some weapons in UC, weapons in CE don’t have their power rating disclosed, so it’s difficult to say exactly which weapons are the most powerful. But at the time, it’s safe to say that the Balaena Plasma Beam Cannons were amongst the strongest around when the Freedom rolled out. Even during the second bloody valentine war, I’d argue that they still ranked amongst the top, although competition was getting steeper.
I think on its own, the cannons are alright but the thing that really makes it the best was the nuclear power source. You can kinda say that the same goes for the Strike Freedom's abdomen beam cannon where it is touted as being as strong as the Destiny's (the most cutting edge suit ZAFT essentially have at that time and thanks to that I'm assuming its the best) even though it is from the Abyss.
Before the Perfect Strike was an actual thing, I thought Freedom represented the Strike with all it's packs. It's Balaena Cannons from the Launcher's Cannon, the wings from the Aile pack, and it's beam sabers and the ability to go double-ended for that Sword presence, I guess (yeah, I'll have to ask the me who first saw the Freedom what the reasoning was behind that).
@@tatsuyah4695 It actually was the whole basis for Kira's next suit. Believe it or not the Destiny was supposed to be his next suit but somewhere along the lines of production they changed it to the Freedom. You can really see this on Destiny's sword design where it is essentially the Sword Strike's sword.
@@rightsideup6304 Huh, interesting. So was Shinn supposed to have the Legends? Still would have made an anticlimatic final fight, unfortunately since it'll still boil down to the reused Freedom vs Providence already.
You forgot one of the most important features of the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice. They looked so similar to their older models that it allowed Sunrise to keep reusing animations for them.
And also in seed destiny zaft soldier were frightened because they think that the strike freedom is litterally the freedom and then think that he was invincible and à ghot who haunthed them😂😂😂
I dont know whether to applaud Lacus and her faction on their penchant for stealing high value assets so quickly, or shake my head at Zaft's lack of security or incompetence lol.
Well, can't blame ZAFT for that, because Klein faction was quite prominent and highly influencial player in ZAFT politics. I'm pretty sure that they had their part in developing weaponry for ZAFT.
@@paulskiye6930 agreed, maybe I'm just laughing at the meme about Zaft being the one faction that seems to lose their machines the most. They really do have a bad luck streak, no matter the circumstance. Whether during Zala or Durandals term made little effect on the Clyne Faction grabbing data or the machines to make their own, and both times were machines that altered the war against them.
Well, when you had such insiders like Yzak, it makes sense that the Clyne Faction could possibly have enough people in high enough places to steal data on the new tech. Rau was able to sneak the data for improved MS tech to Azrael for the creation of the CPU trio's Gundams (the way he sent off the N-Jammer Canceller data through Flay was more high-profile and not his smartest plan), so what's not to say Lacus had people in similarly high positions that could do the same. But for actually stealing MSs like the Gaia, since the one Andy used is apparently the exact same one Stella stole and used, well, I guess those sympathizers and insiders were good.
I am leaning towards the latter considering that trio of Gundams that got stolen at the start of SEED Destiny that Lacus wasn't involved with. Frankly it's amazing their opposition doesn't just steal all of ZAFT's mobile suits instead of trying to blow them up.
Correction on the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice Acquisition: The Clyne Faction/Terminal only acquired the technical data related to their development, not the actual machines. The incomplete data was already available during the development of ZGMF-X09A and ZGMF-X10A since development of ZGMF-X19A and ZGMF-X20A were also done in parallel to them. The latter machines were not completed in time due to limitations on the DRAGOON system and other technical issues. The Clyne Faction stole the data and deleted it from ZAFT servers and they continued the development of these Mobile Suits later on, using the operational data of Kira and Athrun, and they've also incorporated the latest Mobile Suit Tech developed by ZAFT.
Well to be fair they did finally manage to hide the Destiny and Legend long enough for them to use ... although they seem to have misplaced the Gaia and co.. (twice for the gaia as even it's blueprint got snatched by lacus o/)
@@trollinoakenshield9822 If you pay attention you can see the gaia is actually still stored in the minerva when the destiny and legends takes off untill the end

I bet it went something like: Engineer A: So how many guns should we put on the Strike Freedom? Engineer B: Yes... Engineer A: You know they're not going to all fit, right? Engineer B: That's what the METEOR's are for...
lets be honest, the meteor is a streamlined gp03. and the best auxiliary system in the franchise alongside it. it looks sleek, looks powerful and even without seeing it with its missile doors open you can see how much more powerfull the machines become after docking to it. now compare it to the gn arms, and their cofin design. or the falcon from X. one looks like a joke, and the other looks like it doesnt really do anything for it.
Just watched Seed and Destiny for the first time the last couple of months. Surprised how active and interested the fan base is for this nearly 20 year old series. Good video makes me want to rewatch the Seed again.
dude, seed no joke is the reason gundam exists today. people often dont understand how important seed is. and its literaly one of, if not THE biggest seller and most popular in the franchise. there's a reason why every year they release so many SEED stuff. its kidna hilarious, they do SEED, UC and then put the rest in the box of NOT SEED/UC.
Wait there's CWIS guns on the Infinite Justice's chest? I've got the HG and I never realized that! In other thoughts, I don't think Lacus is a evil Mastermind. I now think she's a Kleptomaniac, because dang she stole a lot of stuff. We need a side story that's just the antics of master thief Lacus Clyne, pulling a casino heist or something.
It's not that the Klein faction stole the plans they actually stole the scientist that were working on it aka the scientist deffected to the Kleint's faction
All of them literally join the Terminal, so it's very likely SF and IJ really tailored for Kira and Athrun because their development team are Lacus' agents.
Sooo.... Lacus employs a squad of Blood Ravens space marines. That's now my canon on how she constantly just walks into Zaft armories and walks out with their top secret super mechs and spaceships
not sure it is a blessing that a certain pink-haired lady manages to steal all the powerful super weapons, the outcome of the war would have turned ugly if they were fall into the 'wrong' hands.
Honestly, I think it's possible that Zaft would never have used Genesis had they not lost these machines. Meteor equpped Freedom and Justice would have had no problems shooting down the nuclear missiles from the alliance and then ripping the the Alliance fleet to shreds.
@@heavyarms55 Rau would find a way to mess things up and help the Alliance. Afterall if it wasn't for him the Alliance wouldn't have any reason to fire nuclear missiles in the first place and they would have no hope of doing anything against ZAFT's new MS. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut without Kira and Athrun pilotting the druggies trio could've actually won against the Freedom and the Justice.
"Knight Justice" imo sounds way cooler. I won't mind "Infinite Justice" though if the Strike Freedom was called the "Eternal Freedom" instead. (y'know to keep it thematic) Super Freedom sounds cliche; Strike Freedom isn't bad, but "Sky Freedom" or "Soaring Freedom" would have sounded way better.
@@echos5823 The reason the Strike Freedom is not the 'Super Freedom' is because, in Japan there was once a notorious rape gang called 'Super Free.' With Gundam's SEED's creators having seen the possible negative impact by mere association to the name promoting a rape gang, they decided to change it & honor the Strike Gundam. If it were the Super Freedom, Jesus Yamato would have been #metoo'd & cancelled.
It's like a running gag at one point. I'm pretty sure that none of the gundam suits in all of Seed and Destiny stayed with the respective people who created them. Do they got wheel locks for gundams or something, cause sure seems easy to steal them.
@@andrewowens4421 Not true. One unit the ORB 01 Akatsuki remained within Orb forces for its entire appearance on the show. Cagalli loaned it to Mu after she launched it because he was a better pilot and she was needed on Earth while the suit was needed in space. And Mu was stationed aboard the Archangel which was a commissioned Orb fleet ship now and was the flagship of their fleet when they went to assault Requiem and Messiah.
@@andrewowens4421 The Destiny, Legend and Providence are the only gundam with the Impulse to not switch hands in Zaft, and knowing how much of a cleptomane Lacus is that's an impressive feat (but tu impulse is so weak in comparison she probably saw it and went meh)
@@matteste Honestly, it's more the extreme plot armor Kira himself has that makes the (Strike) Freedom appear so OP, similar to Heero and the Wing Gundam Zero, coupled with the more super robot style action their series' tend to engage in as opposed to "real robot". When looking at the mobile suit's actual power and such, they're pretty equivalent to late Universal Century Gundams like the F91 and Victory 2. A real Mary Sue Gundam would be more the Unicorn Gundam or Turn A Gundam, lol.
@@HalfDemonInuyasha Mary Sue is more than plot armor. It is also that the character is blatantly favored by the narrative, plot armor is just one part of it. Being portrayed as some superior moral pillar is another common sign, a character shown to be without flaws and always shown as morally right, regardless whether their virtue actually makes sense. Basically, the Mary Sue is virtuous cause the story says so, not cause they actually show it or earn it. And any character that question said virtue are shown to either be wrong or evil. Mary sue's are also magnets for other characters to get jealous at as they are so good at everything, that others just want what the Mary Sue has. Another common trait tends to be that they are overly special, that they have things that no one else in the story has or can compete against. Even their clothing, or in this case the Machine, are often made to stand out and be overly designed again to make them special. There is a lot that goes into a Mary Sue, and it just so happen that Kira alongside Lacus and their machines tick all the boxes.
kinda makes me wish they did something similar with the wing zero and deathscythe, since they look like an angel and a demon respectively but thats just me spit balling my thoughts
@@meow-meow-beans I wanna say the closest we got in terms of complementary units in gundam wing was the red and blue units who's names I forgot/can't spell and maybe heavy arms and Sandrock with heavy arms being more long range and sandrock having more melee focused armaments
they kinda were, the wing was a dedicated hit and run, long range unit, with the deathscythe being a dedicated assassination, close quarters combat. its just that the series never took the idea to its natural conclusion. if you look at them tactically, its very clear that they were meant to be used together, the wing would draw atention, and shoot down things from afar, while the DS would come close from behind and take down important targets.
CB or rather Gundam 00 is really just the real plot for Destiny before it got botched by the writer since she wanted to ruin Cagali's and Shinn's VA (there was a rumor that she was seducing her husband, the creator/director, and Shinn's VA defended Cagali's VA)
@@thatmotivatedchris6749 They meant the development tree. Because of how the development project for the gundams split into multiple routes and isn't linear

The names that the strike freedom and infinite justice do sound superior, I still love the used names because it made me think an individual must strike their ideal freedom without causing problems, and a society must give an infinite and indifferent justice to all. In accordance to Kira's and Athrun's wishes, Kira wants to free everyone from the war, and Athrun wants to justify ones wishes.

@@soramikami4383 I would think it appropriate to have them initially monoeyed just like how the Gundam Mk II was originally black. They would be changed when they switch factions as an "upgrade".
i still defend that they should start with monoeyes, and the strike would lose its head, possibly during the rescue pod fight, and then be given a modified strike, or astray head. that would been perfect. and the sadest part is, zaft has some of the coolest monoeyes.
@@marcosdheleno Seed is still my favorite universe hands down the coolest. It is not perfect sure but what is? Number of awesome and impactful emotional moments in this series is the highest. "they don't need to blow up a entire base to steal a suit XD" *I look back on past series and events* I literally don't even know how to process that right now..........
Find yourself a girl that will give you a Gundam, an entire warship designed to store said Gundam, give you an upgraded version of said Gundam after it got destroyed, and still gave you the freedom to do whatever you want with it and support you all the way.
This video should be titled "Unfortunately for Zaft" due to the sheer amount of important thing they seem to misplace Although If I remember correctly the Strike freedom and infinite justice Are built directly for Kira and Asran By Lacus and her rogue arm factory hidden in an asteroids ( the same one where they hid the eternal, they mention the factory being hidden there when they launch in destiny )
It surprised me how much Lacus actually matured over the series. It was obvious from the beginning that she was highly intelligent, but she was also extremely naive. It took awhile for her to gain enough experience to become worldly and put her intelligence to work where it belonged and could do the most good for the world and everyone in it. When she took everything of value and escaped and allied herself with ORB, which she knew was on the correct path, She managed to turn everything around with the help of Athrun and Kira and everyone else that was once enemies and changed the world view to willingly follow her.
that's the best part, SHE DIDNT. she always played herself as the oblivious little princess. but go back and watch her first showing, she was "bumbling around" a military ship as a PoW. and she made everyone think she was harmless. she could literaly sabotage the entire ship if she wanted and noone would be able to do anything, or even know.
@@marcosdhelenonot to mention she could predict zaft movement, in destiny she herself said that after the alliance lost the fight, zaft next target would be orb, she said that to the crew in archangel so they rush in to go to orb even sacrificing freedom on the process
This video was randomly showed in my recommendations. But it was worth it. I get to reminisce this awesome series. Even though I’m a Freedom/Strike Freedom dude, I will never forget how Athrun’s infinite Justice one-shotted the Destiny with a kick. Lmao. Kira and Athrun together were truly unstoppable

Holy crap someone else that thinks this! Personally I like the touch of gold and the dragoons, but I admit that it makes the already pretty over powered Freedom that much more invincible. That and it feels like whoever designed it just said screw it, arm it with everything. It feels too busy for me. The OG Freedom was overpowered but it's much simpler of a design, something I like about it.
@@vincentmartucci861 To me,it's more for aesthetic, but either way,it's nice to see someone not praising the Strike Freedom for once. And I hate the fact that it doesn't have the the shoulder cannons. That's what I like most about the Freedom! And the Freedom just seems screwed over by not having things like DRAGOONs and the Voiture Lumiere!
I'm the opposite, i dislike the Freedom, but really like the SF. The plasma cannon on the wings and the cannon on the side skirt (it's too long) always make me uncomfortable. As for Justice, i don't like the way the wings on the backpack folded, i'm glad they changed it in IJ
As i remember the strike freedom was in development alongside the freedom but was cancelled due to the dragoon system and other stuff not working. Which I'm assuming was instead just turned into the providence. Then the strike freedom had its production restart during the 2nd war with kira being the intended pilot in mind.
The name, "Super Freedom Gundam" for an upgraded Freedom Gundam makes sense from a real world standpoint, and mirrors real-world aircraft nomenclature. For example, the F/A-18E Super Hornet is an upgraded version of the F/A-18 Hornet. By the same token, the name "Strike Freedom Gundam" also mirrors real-world nomenclature, one example being the F-15E Strike Eagle, an updated variant of the F-15 Eagle. As for the name "Knight Justice Gundam," I guess that was later reused for Build Divers Re:Rise.
The Strike Freedom was originally called the "Super Freedom" but the name was later changed, and some fans speculated it was due to the Super Free incidence in 2003.
The guy who made Freedom and Justice be like: (Listens Colors by FLOW) well, I'm loyal to the Clynes so I'm helping her. Lacus: uh Albert, your Geass is showing.
I must say it's really cool seeing the technical details of the SEED units. I feel like Seed and its sequel displayed alot but didn't go too much into detail on the technology on the suits themselves. It's interesting to see this kind of matter explained
i always felt like the opposite, it showed us the progression of the tech, and the behind the scenes. compare it to 00 which we only see it refueling once during the early parts of the first series, and then we hear how the twin drives have exponential more power, but the machine doesnt really act like its that much more powerfull than its sister units. when it comes to the freedom and justice, not only do you look at it and notice at first glance how much more powerfull it is compared to the strike, the tech feels far more important to the story, with the batteries always being an issue earlier on, and the canceller being shown how much more power it brings to the table. also, the best part is, we see the natural progression, you can see where the freedom weaponry and the justice fatum came from, long before those units became a thing. and we always hear about how impactful the inability to use nuclear power is for the suits.
It’s like the two Gundams were specifically made for 2.5D Bullet Hell Shoot em up arcade that guzzles quarters down faster than the average lifespan of a GINN facing both of them at once. It’s all there. Freedom’s a wide-shot type with firepower covering the screen. Justice is the straight-shot type with more focused damage on single targets. Both have a melee weapon that’ll erase bullets, a unique backpack gimmick that can act as their Bomb attack, and both have access to a major power-up that is the METEOR units. Most important of all, both of them actually do have the firepower and the juice to sustain them long enough to get away with wiping out the entirety of a military force all by themselves provide their pilots are that good at not getting hit.
you know what's hilarious? real story, the reason i started watching SEED was because i saw the moebius zero in the first episode and it looked straight up like a fighter from something like r-type or raiden. its design was something you know you would see in a shmup. and it instantly hooked me up. my favorite design in the franchise, up until i saw the freedom.
Can you do a development history of the Ultimate/Devil Gundam??? Including the Dark Army The 4 Evil Kings - Master Gundam - Soaring Raven Gundam - Grand Gundam - Walter Gundam and the Gundam heads
Lacus must really love her man if she's willing to hijack TWO Mobile Suits (the Freedom and Strike Freedom) from her OWN home's military. I mean, the smex has gotta be worth it 😂😂😂
These videos are really nice for SEED! There's so many friggen variants it's hard to keep them all straight. They go from Aegis to Justice to Infinite Justice to Immortal Justice to Infinite Justice type II and my brain is just like NANI!?
I think one edge the S Freedom and I Justice had over the Destiny was that they had more armament options that didn't require the hands/manipulators to operate. So far as I recall, all the Destiny's weapons, including it's back mounted folding beam canon required the aid of the hands to aim and handle. Simply put, a de-limbed/un-handed Destiny may still be speedy, but it is severely reduced in effectiveness, even with just one arm missing.
I think when someone design destiny (in Bandai headquarters or zaft design team), they took the best part of impulse upgrade power system, but forgetting impulse armaments are interchangeable system. And they remember and re design it in destiny impulse
i kinda love how the thefts happen. its kinda hilarious how each of them is so completely diferent from one another but they still happen so often you would think there's something wrong with them for letting it happen. the first was done by rau who traded the info with the federation in the first place. the second happened because of lacus position behind the scenes. the third was less of a theft and more of a defection. the fourth was due to spies that infiltrated the place and the defection of another high ranking officer. the fifth was planned from their own side as an excuse to start the next war. the sixth was stolen data and manpower, so it was more like another defection.
The only fact I know about Strike Freedom(I don't know if it's confirmed or what) is that it is the only machine in the series that did not sustain any damage.
It didn't. It got hit by the Legend at one point, but blocked with beam shields and went off-balance in the atmosphere and was about to be shot in the back by the Destiny(probably would've dodged anyways but whatever). That was the closest it got to "being hit". Also didn't lose a single DRAGOON.
makes me wonder what they will call the new units in the movie. infinite freedom and strike justice? eternal freedom and meteor justice? super freedom and aegis justice? neverending freedom and perfect justice? freedom bringer and justice enforcer?
hope the Providence's development history is tackled one day, since it somewhat is like the 3rd of this trio back in SEED... well at least that's the impression the Master Grades gave off when I got them before watching SEED
As I remember when reading the Gundam Seed manga, Freedom is a mobile suit that was built for long-term combat purposes, a mobile suit that can fight for a long time period on the battlefield without worries about supplies, because of that, various types of weapons were implanted in Freedom and nuclear fusion as a source of its energy. so that in battle freedom can always be ready to fight without thinking about the supply of fuel and ammunition.
that's why it makes sense for it to only carry beam weaponry. its meant to be a suit that doesnt refuel, its kinda hard to do that with missiles and other physical artilhery. even then they had a rail gun which accelerates tinny pieces of metal at high speed, so it can carry ALOT of ammo. finally, its a dedicated mid to long range suit, only carrying minimal close combat tools, as the justice is the opposite, being designed to defend the freedom from any wannabe striker. its the best paired sister units in the franchise. and we see it not just in their designs but also in their synergy. compare it to other pairs like the heavyarms and sandrock or the wing and deathscythe. units that would work amazingly well together, but barely do so. or the heavyarms from wish and the "we have wing at home" from X. they do pair well, but still feel like its missing something because one is a hit and run and the other is a long ranger... both missing a third close range striker to either pull agro or to defend a position for them to do their jobs...
I aways thought that upgraded versions were produced and developed not by the ZAFT(cause they were developing Impulse and other prototypes), but by the Clybe faction btw
Agree I think Pf. Freedom and inf. Justice is more like basic plan and lacus/terminal created one. No way like zaft had idea "let's make some top noth MS and make tunning for pilot who stole the first one"
Another fun fact: They're the only Mobile suits that Kira and Athrun piloted that didn't get absolutely totaled or destroyed by the end the end of the series.
@@neovoltron25 if you are talking the fatum from the infinite justice, then you are confusing it, it got destroyed when it was rammed into the minerva's engine.
Ah yes, two of Sunrise and Bandai's golden boys (the other one being literally golden, though 😛) When I first saw the Strike Freedom, though, I thought the upgraded Justice would be called "Aegis Justice." 😂😂😂 One thing, though: why did Kira and Athrun still referred to their upgraded machines as just "Freedom" and "Justice," respectively, when launching in the show; whereas the games like the EXVS games referred to them by their proper names when you select them?
At this point, have a qualified pilot sleep in the cockpit every night. Never tell anyone whose shift it is except a few people. Another anime called Knights and Magic fixed this problem by adding an extra security measure after the MCs prototype units were stolen. You couldn't start the damn thing without said security measure and every assigned pilot kept said measure on their person. It was kind of like the G Controller from Gundam X.
14:38 I found out about the the ♾ justice original name being knight justice but changed because it’s was used already but the strike freedom being super freedom is new to me
