Being completely honest, when i found your channel i was trilled because i saw "java" in all of your titles but what made me get bored of your channel was the fact that there was way too low emphasis on the "java part". You should understand that by now there were thousands of "day in the life of a software engineer" videos nicely made. What i was searching for in your channel was educative stuff about what exactly are you working on as a java engineer or as a java freelancer. What types of projects are you working on, what kind of technologies are industry "standards".

that's a really insightful comment @Tebek, thanks for the feedback. I will try to make videos that get more into the programming side of things. really appreciate it!

It's good to put content on comparing permanent contract with freelance job in Netherlands and put a salary as tipping the balance.

I've been working part time programming jobs for different companies and freelancing in web dev. Now I wanna be a Java Freelancer So, you got a new sub!

Great content as always! And hey, you used my image without the permission, kidding 😂😂😂 I was always thinking about how different my life gonna be if I decided to be a freelancer… Well, it is a not discarded option in a couple of years 😊 But for now I need some stability

@learn_with_phil Год назад
Thanks Felipe! Exactly man, you are definitely the guy that needs some stability right now because of your family. Plus the economy is really shaky right now, you don’t want to risk I’d assume.

Can I become a freelancer as a beginner in java in my late 20s without any programming experience? Please help, I am broke
@learn_with_phil
@learn_with_phil Год назад
Hey there! I would recommend not going that way. Freelancing is more suitable for Sr. developers. As a Jr. developer you should get into a company so you could learn with Sr. devs. Then you can take off and make your own journey.

it doesnt really matters where you're from. what you have to do in order to start freelancing is to have the required skills to freelance. you can check this video where I explain the skills required to be a Jr.developer: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZW3HoI_rHMc.html

Do i need to pay taxes as freelancer also where can i apply as java software engineer java is kinda my specialty
@learn_with_phil
@learn_with_phil 8 месяцев назад
Yes you do need to pay taxes, such as VAT every quarter and also pay taxes over your profits. Also you will pay taxes when you pay yourself a salary. That can be minimised if you pay yourself the minimum taxable salary in your legislation. Watch my next video, I will explain how to find freelance jobs. Have a good one!

How does one actually do the transition from Kotlin to Java? I've been finding it hard since Java is so verbose and has too many rules that I'm actually not finding it interesting in my OOP class this year
@learn_with_phil
@learn_with_phil Год назад
Hi there Akebu! Like they say "practice makes perfect". The more time you put into learning Java the easier it will be in coding on that language. I agree with you that Kotlin is easier, less verbose and "cooler" to program in. And in the end of the game they're both JVM languages, right? But Java have several advantages over Kotlin: 1 - Job Market is 95% Java vs 5% Kotlin 2 - Java runs better on the JVM rather than Kotlin because of JVM optimisations specifically made for Java 3 - All libraries and frameworks are developed for Java first
@akebu6
@akebu6 Год назад
@@learn_with_phil thanks Phil for this, I just have to practice it more and hopefully I can get a hang of it. Sometimes I feel starting with C++ is also one of the reasons why I'm finding Java so "boring" to some extent
