I’ve always liked the typhoon. Having owned many Freewing jets, decided to move away from the three minute styrofoam” flights. I was also running Schubeler 12 blade fans which sound great, but eat batteries. 10 blades in most cases give you better performance and flight times. On my F-16 90mm, I made a system where the cheater holes opened at low speed/throttle and closed at high speed. This gave me an overall better top speed but also gave me engine performance on takeoff, landing and alpha passes. The belief is that on fast clean passes, the airflow entering the cheater vents was causing turbulence in front of the fans. Closing them at high speeds prevented this and thus almost 15 mph more was achieved flat and level. Good flight and nice scheme. I like that you flew with your ordnance.
Nice flight good information! I'll try and make sure I pass it on to my buddy who just started flying his. I'm gonna have to try and find a way to make it out to Knoxville Tennessee. Tol see if I can video you guys! well at least that's the dream LOL 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nYj4Uer4hHc.html
The CG in the book is incorrect. Add an extra 50 to 100g weight in the tail depending on your battery, flairs better on landings and the high Alpha is much better. I'm running a 6000 pack with 100g in the tail. I do have a video posted if interested to see.
Do you currently have this bird on Craigslist? There's one listed in Knoxville with a half a Red Baron theme. I figure that is one heck of a coincidence if it's not this one.
@@BDTennessee cool. A fair price as well. I'm waiting to see how hard Ms. Santa went at it this year to see if I still have a hobby budget lol. If I do I'll contact him through the ad. Thanks.
Got the home Depot color match for my airbrush. I sanded the number area and painted over just that area. I wish they didn't add those decals. What a pain to cover up.
Very nice looking Jet. The SMC 5300 battery is my choice as well seem to be plenty of power for that 90mm. Great landing even with out the speed brake on the 1st flight. Awesome 2nd flight. Thanks for sharing.
I hear some people say that sometimes Freewing's esc thinks that the HV SMC batteries are 7S instead of 6S. And you should turn off the LVC in the ESC. Can it be turned off with Freewing's ESC Programming Card?
On my rate switch (B), I have low rates (~75%) with AS3X, high rates (100%) with AS3X, and high rates (100%) with SAFE mode. The 100% in SAFE mode will give me the full 85° bank angle limit I use on my EDF's. I set my expos to 1/4th or 1/3rd of whatever the rate is. So if the rate is 100%, I'll set the expo to either 25% or 33%. The larger the control surface, the more expo I'll use. On my EDF's, I've gotten to where I take off and land in SAFE mode. On maiden flights, I'll start shooting approaches at or before the 2 minute warning so that I get at least 3 chances to land it safely. This week, I've been having a blast with a new E-flite EC-1500 V2. I've only been flying R/C for 60 years and it's still fun.. 🤠
@@mrt10352 I normally start with 30% for roll, 40% for pitch, and 50% for yaw and set the gain sensitivity to X1. See some of my AS3X/SAFE videos. Setting the gain too high can be disastrous and if it’s too low, it just doesn’t smooth the bumps out enough.
