Video is Pilot Narrated, flying off one of the most remote and pristine beautiful beach locations on this planet.... Cable Beach, Broome, Western Australia by avatar "HondaJet" of RC Froups Forum.
This model handles absolutely scale like and better at the heavier Flying Weight of 97 oz (2700+gm) approximately 10oz heavier that out of box flying weight given with a 5000mAh LiPo Fuel Cell.

Thank you Mike..... That was 4 years ago there....and I do miss that place! Sabre does not fly much now and is in on my display room floor hangar museum space collecting dust.... Will have to spool it up again soon on Darwin beach this time ..... not as nice as Broome.... and 1000km north of that location where I am living now. Cheers, Louis.

That's some of the most beautiful scale flying I've ever seen. Sounds so much like a real turbine, especially the gradual throttle increases on the ground. I love scale takeoff's, do them all the time instead of some pilots who full throttle, naturally hook left them climb like a rocket. I'm amazed at how well this Sabre does slow flight. Just got my first EDF jet, a Freewing Stinger 64mm with 3s power. I'm starting small to see if I like jet flying because I don't much enjoy speed flying, like slower scale flight like in this video. If it goes well, this F-85 Sabre is next on my wish list. Thanks for the beautiful video, enjoyed it very much :)

Tks CJK..... am in the settle in stage of my relocation move away from where this video was taken so Sabre is still packed away at the moment. Most of the area where I am now is just all grass Fields and not as scenic... however there is a Sealed RC runway setup about 20 minutes away from my new location which will handle this Jet easily as I saw a large scale FA18 Hornet with the Jet Turbine engine fly off it a few years ago. I do fly Scale as the norm..... as I have been flying full size in a Private Pilot role since 1973 and also with Flying since I was an infant and youth with paternal Airline Transport association. So that is where my style originates from. Thank you and I do appreciate your response comment on this video.......... cheers to you..... Louis.

From 8+ years in the future, this is a very nice walk-through demo. While one must assume that the Freewing F-86 80mm has some differences (materials, electronics, assembly technology, etc.), I certainly hope that the scale performance is still comparable, and not a flying brick ;-) These are the jets of my generation, with the T-33 being my first training craft. "Those were the days, my friend"... so I am looking forward to adding this craft to my hangar soon. "Off we go, into the wild blue yonder..." 😎😊
@kjetgirl
@kjetgirl Год назад
It's definitely not a "Flying Brick" Kevin with it's scale size, wing loading and perhaps a little more camber designed into it's shape than the full size. You can take it as high up as you dare and dead cut the EDF Turbine and just glide it for a minute or so to extend your flight times too. However, it is not a model you can land without power safely without managing your approach airspeed carefully a little higher than required. So fly it on like the real thing and keep a 10 to 20 percent power on as required in landing configuration with Flaps in your flare to land and touchdown . It also handles take off and landing best on hard smooth surfaces with a relatively obstacle free take off and landing approach path. Rough grass fields will stress your U/C Retract mountings and sometimes dislodge them.

Kelvin .... apology for typo
@kelvinnance8371
@kelvinnance8371 Год назад
@@kjetgirl Excellent! Thanks for the added info. With these older warbirds, esp. the early EDFs, our current EDF tech can be overpowered (thus the "flying brick" aspect). The scale application can be a bit tricky, but I definitely get what you mean about the 10 to 20% throttle on approach in order to have a good flare. I noticed that in the video. It does look a bit too fast to try a hand catch so I'm glad we have a good paved flight line set-up. Thanks for the note about the landing gear! I did notice something just a bit unusual with the gear, but not quite sure what it is. I'll keep your words of wisdom in my field kit. 😉

Good info, I just got this jet and I know nose heavy jets are tougher to land, they tend to sink at the end of the glide slope, thanks for the vid! Subbed 👍

Yes...Just keep the speed up with correct approach nose slightly high profile with power on and with a good run in a power controlled and stable constant descent in landing configuration till you touch down....thank you for your like DW ! cheers....

Excellent flying. You make it look easy. Mine flies great. You are able to fly it very slowly. I like you recommendations of the CG. Mine flies nose heavy when set to factory specifications. I will set mine up like yours and give it a go. Does the aileron setting of 5-7mm up act like wing tip washout giving it some tip stall protection ?
@kjetgirl
@kjetgirl 5 лет назад
Yes that Aileron setting is known a Aileron Reflex and does make the span area of the outer wing stall well after the inner section nearer the wing root which will stall first. Thus you have more control with aileron input to keep your wings level at lower speeds and higher Angles of Attack and Pitch attitude of the Fuselage. All this is controllable of course until you enter the fully developed stall of the rest of the Wing aside from the area affected by that Aileron Reflex ...... where you will still have some measure of control with Rudder mix added in your Tx program, to recover from the stall before it results in a wing drop away and spin. Yes use my settings and the Tail Sit Test as demonstrated. I use the same balance TST on the FMS Red Arrows BAe Hawk which flies the same way as the F86 in this video of mine too ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-71DmgP8vwt8.html being able to hold the nose wheel off in the landing and take off sequences. Not all Jet models are able to do this TST though because of their aerodynamic design and the position of their main Landing Gear.

@brucelongdog
@brucelongdog 7 лет назад
Interesting. .I would have thought having those ailerons up 5 degrees one would loose lift at stall speeds.Would the same apply for a wing on a 1.2 meter Mustang?
@kjetgirl
@kjetgirl 7 лет назад
No to the contrary.... that is the idea.... at Stall Speeds the outer section of the Wing ahead of the Aileron at its Reflex setting has a Lower Angle of Attack to the Rest of the Stalled wing , so is still generating Lift when the rest of the Wing is getting less lift near the Stall Airspeed. It applies to any Aerofoil.... so yes Mustang too for better stable slow flying and also less drag in the cruise Straight and Level.
@johna.s.3847
@johna.s.3847 5 лет назад
No sure, but some of the flying wings have some aileron reflex. It could have something to do with the amount of swept back of the wings. It could act like wing tip wash out preventing wing tip stalls allowing the main part of the wing to stall first. Either way I am not sure. I will read up on the subject.

I added the lights as a project with some scale detail using some HobbyKing kits for them and in my hobby spares parts collection at home. Just have to take the 5V off any spare receiver channel you have or your bind plug port. Flashing circuits are supplied with the Light add on kits from HK. If you add your own bright white leds to the 5V for the Nosewheel landing Leds as I have done you will have to solder in some 150 to160 ohm resistors on one of the leads to the LED light in series otherwise you will fuse blow the leds with the current from the 5V receiver supply to you LED. Let me know if you want more help and I will give you my email address for more direct contact on this model and share some photos on it etc.

Thanks for your interest and reply Todd...... yes, but all speed is relative though in the scheme of things in any vehicle..... something to do with Einstein and the Theory of Relativity. Any Extraterrestrial , if they exist and their more intelligent Time Warp travel would think our 8 months to travel to Mars with our current space travel technology would be stone age to them at their rate of perhaps say one earth day to travel that same distance for them.
