Today, we test the -40 degree pre heat technology on Hulkman 10.0, Lokithor J401X, Fanttik T8 Max, Gooloo GT4000, to see how these portable jump starters perform in sub-zero weather. Watch to the end to see what happens.
It appears that the pre-heat mode never came on. It should show to the right of the snowflake. Check the manual, it tells you there are 3 squealy lines that should appear when the pre-heat mode is working.
If you are referring to the Gooloo GT4000, the snowflake indicator icon let's us know that the unit is too cold, the 3 squiggly lines are supposed to illuminate that the pre heat is working as you said, so by the squiggly lines not appearing tells me the preheat function was not working properly for whatever reason. Actually, it also says in the manual that you're supposed to wait 100 seconds (which we surpassed) or press the Boost button 1-2 seconds after hooking up the unit to the battery in low temp weather in order for the low temp technology to work. We did all those things and the pre heat technology still didn't work. We will do a follow up on this as well.
wow, thank you so much for such a detailed comparison. I had high hope for Gooloo GT4000 with its unique pre-heating feature because a couple days ago Montreal was hit with -40 degrees C for 3 straight days. My GB40 couldn't even jump-start my car in this kind of weather. Probably my fault for leaving it in the trunk but I did charge it a month ago though. The Gooloo GT4000 is a great unit, but for some reason the pre heat technology didn't work that well 2 different times I tested it. Aside from the preheat technology issue I had, the Gooloo GT4000 is a great unit. I actually love what I am seeing from the Lokithor J401X, very well-made unit. I recommend all the top jump starters I used in this video, but for whatever reason the Gooloo GT4000 did not do too well with the pre heat technology as shown in the video.
Thank you for the review! On the Hulkman, do you hit the start button - then wait for the snowflake to disappear - then hit the start again? Or is one start enough?
According to what I have read, after you attach the clamps to the battery and power on the Hulkman 10.0, the unit should automatically go into low temp technology pre heat and warm up the internals on the unit, after about a minute or so the snowflake should disappear on the unit, then the Hulkman 10.0 will jump start your vehicle with no issue
Any update on the GooLoo? Does the manual explain how the preheat function works? Maybe dive into this further on why the preheat function failed or didn’t function? Factory defect maybe?
We followed the instructions in the manual to a tee, so we were surprised the preheat technology didn't work properly, and that was only being around 12 degrees when it was tested, its rated at up to negative 40 degrees. We will be doing a follow up video shortly to see if it was a fluke that the pre heat technology didn't work properly with Gooloo Gt4000, or if we had a defective unit. @jnstrcklnd I ordered a new one, we are going to test the new one when we get it to see if the new one gives us the same issue. We are thinking we have a defective unit, we will find out soon. We have other videos showing the Gooloo GT4000 took about 15 to 20 minutes for the preheat technology to activate, but that's way too long obviously. I love my Gooloo GT4000 and never had an issue with it. I contacted Gooloo a while back and since my warranty was up, they couldnt do anything, also i extended the cables to reach 3 feet, so naturally if i had a warranty it would have been voided. ive had mine for about 6 months and im an auto tech and have used it many times this year up to 6.7l Diesels with no problems. i reccomend it.@@jnstrcklnd
We configured the original size cables and made them 3 feet long to help with tight clearances. We have a video showing us making the Gooloo GT4000 extended cables. But keep in mind, Un that video, it was very early in my soldering career and I didn't do things up to peoples standards. Lol. Thanks for the comment

@akbarpashtun In the freezing cold, the Hulkman 10.0, Hulkman 85S, Lokithor J401X would be my choice, but I believe the Hulkman 10.0 is $299, the Hulkman 85S is around $170, and the Lokithor J401X is around $200. They are all made heavy duty with pre heat technology down to -40 f.

I just received my gt4000 yesterday; what a disappointment. From looking in the manual, there should also be preheat and digital temperature indicators displayed when the unit is preheating and should just take 100 seconds. That sure looks to be a malfunction. Hopefully you can find out more. Maybe I'll just send mine back to Amazon.
The Gooloo GT4000 is supposed to have -40 preheat technology, but I waited along time to jump start after taking the Gooloo GT4000 out of the freezer. After about 20 minutes the preheat snowflake never disappeared off the unit. So it looks like maybe my Gooloo GT4000 malfunctioned or just can't handle the really cold weather as advertised. I am going to do a follow up video on the Gooloo GT4000 to see if maybe it was just a fluke that the preheat technology did not work. The Gooloo GT 4000 has always worked great for me, so far the only down fall so far is the preheat technology, and why it didn't work. We will figure it out
I have tested the pre heat technology a second time on the Gooloo GT4000 and we had the same issue, the cold impacted the Gooloo GT4000 so much that the pre heat technology would not work correctly and would not jump start the V8. We waited the recommended 100 seconds it says in the manual, after all else failed we waited about 30 minutes, and the snowflake icon was still illuminated on the Gooloo GT4000 and would not jump start the V8. We hit the Gooloo GT4000 after 30 minutes with a temp gun and it was reading 43F and still wouldn't jump start. So, I am assuming the freezer test was just too extreme for the Gooloo GT 4000. After a few hours I went back to the Gooloo GT4000 to see if the snowflake icon disappeared and it had, the Gooloo GT 4000 worked perfectly after that.
@@HM_RELOADED Thanks for the follow-up on the gt4000 freeze test, good to know! Might be a good video in itself. FYI: I returned my gt4000 to Amazon within the 30 day return period. In its place I got the hulkman alpha 85s (from Newegg). I like the hulkman better, very nicely designed and I like the position of the clamp connector and light. Great reviews on these products!
That is very unfortunate. I'm sorry that happened after spending good money on these jump starters, only for them to fail when needed most. Luckily, I have had no issues with my Hulkman 10.0 when activating the pre heat technology. Hopefully, it continues to work like it should.
I have both the hulkman 10.0 and Fantek t8max, I will tell you both work great and I carry the fantek in my truck at all times, I like the battery voltage it shows and it is more then enough to get my 5.7L v8 started from a dead completely dead battery, the lokithore looks like a solid option as well. I think the fantek t8max is a better deal, its a bit cheaper then the hulkman 10.0 and has done everything I have asked it to like cars trucks vans and boats, I will keep the hulkman in case something happens to the fantek but time will tell. Super happy with both of them, get one you wont be disappointed, I like this type of review you do.
It's always smart to keep a backup jump starter just in case your primary jumper poops the bed. Lol. The Fanttik T8 Max and the Lokithor J401X are very well made, and very powerful. The Hulkman 10.0 is my primary jumper, but if it ever goes bad, the Lokithor J401X, and Fanttik T8 Max have shown incredible promise. Thanks for the comment.

I had the unit hooked up for over 20 minutes on and off camera and the preheat technology never came on. The unit could be defective. We will be doing an updated video soon. Appreciate the feedback
Nice reviews and Tests , The Fanttik is a Chinese copy of the Hulkman . The GT4000s is the upgraded version of the GoolooGT4000. Thanx for the tests , much appreciated.
In the instructions for the Gooloo GT4000, it states that it can take up to 100 seconds to pre heat. So maybe in the test conditions which you used, maybe it just needed a little longer.
We did everything that the Manual stated to a tee, on and off camera, and the preheat technology never worked on the Gooloo GT4000. We will be doing an updated version soon, we will be giving the Gooloo another chance to see if perhaps it's defective or just can't do it. it does NOT say to push both buttons to activate pre heat technology in my Gooloo GT4000 manual. And just because your Gooloo is the greatest unit of all times, in your eyes, doesn't mean everyone has the same experience with their Gooloo GT4000. It Clearly says in the Gooloo GT4000 manual, in order to activate preheat technology you must wait 100 seconds after the Gooloo is hooked up to the battery before the preheat activates, or if the Gooloo is not hooked up to a battery, you could push only the Boost button to activate preheat technology. No where in my manual does it say to hold down the power and flashlight button together to activate preheat technology mode. Like i have mentioned in many of our videos, i think we may have a defective unit, but thats our experience with the Gooloo GT4000 pre heat technology. So just because yours work great, doesn't mean everyone's does, everyone have different experiences will everything in life.
The Fanttik T8 MAX included in this review does not have any built in PRE-HEATING technology. Therefore, including the Fanttik T8 MAX in this review is misleading. Also none of the manufacturers’s PRE-HEATIING technology allows the Jump Starters to be placed inside a freezer. The PRE-HEATING technology only works when the ambient temperature falls below the the stated operating temperature of a given jump starters. Therefore, this whole review not consistent with the manufacturers recommended use of the jump starters and hence, is very misleading.
That is the point of this video and our channel, we are doing an Extreme test to see whether or not these units would still work since these units are supposed to jump start up to -40 degrees which IS the recommendation of the manufacturers if you look in each manual. Also, the freezer was set to -0 (Not -40), so being in the freezer was a big advantage temp wise for those units and they all should have worked in that temp setting, since these units are supposed to jump start in up to -40 degrees as advertised, except the Fanttik T8 Max. As for the Fanttik T8 Max, I mention in the video that I wasn't sure if the Max had pre heat technology, but we would try it anyway, and to our surprise the Fanttik T8 Max was still able to jump start in freezing conditions, which is incredible. This is why we do videos like this, so people will know what units work and which ones do not work. I just don't understand your inconsistent comment, there was nothing inconsistent or misleading. I think the whole purpose of my channel, and this video went over your head. We thank you for the comment.
