We have a machine as well, it is an awsome addition to any kitchen. Watching your videos has taken the hesitations I had for my canning beginnings. 😂 love your channel 👍 new subscriber. Thank you and God Bless 🙏
We couldn't live without ours. Just go slow and follow the steps in the Ball Blue Book for the recipe without skipping any. Always check the seal, smell, and look of each jar before consuming the contents. It's a great way to enjoy your garden year round. Thanks for watching and subbing.
I've been going through RU-vid looking for a video about freezing peppers for stuffing and this one is perfect! Learning about Cuneo peppers is an added bonus. I'll be on the lookout for them and will definitely plant some next year. Thank you!
I just finished up freezing this years peppers. The peperone di cuneo peppers are great for stuffing but the seeds can be hard to find. Thanks for watching.
These are the best and most informative videos on food I've ever seen.Listening to you talk and work is like being at home with family and you feel welcome and comfortable. Please can you do a freezer tour next?? I bet it's as fascinating as your root cellar....
Our freezers are not that spectacular. We have 2 small chest freezers. 1 with veggies and baked goods, the other with meat , poultry, and seafood that we stock up on whenever we find a sale. Thanks for watching.
I watched this video as I am getting my bell peppers ready for the freezer. I have never frozen my peppers before. I have several large ones that I am freezing whole… And lots of them that I am cutting smaller to freeze that way. Thank you so much for a complete, easy-to-follow video. I have more confidence now in freezing them. I also have the food saver vacuum process that I will be using.
They are the easiest veggie to freeze. With the foodsaver brand bags they will stay well for a year. We used to freeze using ziplock freezer bags and they would get freezer burn in a couple months. Thanks for watching.
We seal all our dehydrated stuff in the plastic bags. Make them a little longer so you can zip off the end remove some then reseal. The specialized jar lids are very expensive. Thanks for watching.
They help frozen food last so much longer. Expensive up front, but worth it with the amount of food they keep from getting freezer burn. Thanks for watching.
Right on about vacuum seal. They rarely go off and are great eating. A suggestion... freeze your tomatoes as whole, on a tray and then bag them. They are like using fresh tomatoes in chili and other recipes. Think golf balls or cricket ball sizes, they work a treat in any cooked tomato recipe AND they taste fresh.... Cheers
I only freeze them to use as fresh chopped peppers, JALAPENOS . Most are dehydrated, like Cayenne, Habaneros, and some Jalapenos to. into flakes and powder There nice to sprinkle favor and spice on foods. Plus you still can make hot sauces, from the dehydrated pepper flakes and powders too
Cucumbers and peppers were through the roof this year! We finally pulled up the plants last week to stop them from producing any more. Tomatoes, not so much. I'm in Iowa, BTW.
I can't believe we still have buckets of peppers in the garden this time of the year. Usually frost has wiped everything out by now. Thanks for watching.
I do save some seeds, but also like to buy some fron Baker Creek to keep the catalogs coming. I have seen no difference between the 2 when it comes to the harvest. I save all my bean, lima, okra, and parsley seeds. The cukes, melons, gourds, and squash seeds cross pollinate and are not worth saving. Thanks for watching.
Could you tell me what model Food Saver machine you have? I have bought a couple of the cheaper models and had nothing but problems with them. but your machine seems to do it all. Thanks for all your help and video's
I don't know the model. We got it at Costco several years ago and it has worked great. I think Costco has their own model numbers. The new ones they have now look different but probably work the same. I tried a cheep one first and it did not last very long before the vaccum pump went out. It also came with marinating containers and a wine bottle seal. Thanks for watching
I don't think I've ever seen the small round ones before. What region do you live in? I will look for them in Los Angeles at the farmers market when it reopens.
Yes I do. We wait for the end of season ones and use the largest fruit for seeds on some varieties. I also like to give Baker Creek Seeds business so I don't save them all. Thanks for watching.
Compost. Plants love it. Different peppers have different wall thicknesses so be sure to start seeds that will grow the type wall and flavor you seek. Thanks for watching.
We do save some seeds like beans, limas, okra, parslery, cilantro, & basil. The rest we like to order from Baker Creek to give them some sales. Thanks for watching.
I have been using Corel videostudio x9. It is a love hate relationship everytime windows updates, but for $35.00 it gets the job done. I gave up with the microphone in my camera and just voice over everything now with a Blue snowball mic. Thanks for watching.
I wouldn't buy another foodsaver. I am looking for a good one now also. One that doesn't take a minute between bags and is reliable with a remote hose. I will make a video when I find one. Thanks for watching.
Got it from Costco. It's a foodsaver and I wouldn't buy another the way it's acting up lately. Didn't last that long for the price. Thanks for watching.
I think blanching would make them mushy and have never tried it with peppers. Peppers seem to be the only veggie that can be frozen without blanching. Thanks for watching.
It is one of the FoodSavers that was a good deal at Costco. I originally started with one of the low cost Presto ones and it only lasted a couple of months. This one will also work with reusable seal containers and wine bottle seal corks. Thanks for watching.
Extremely sweet with a very thick wall. They are great for stuffing both fresh with like a tuna salad, and after being frozen and then baked. Thanks for watching.
Don't know. We stuff them while still frozen and they cook up great. The slices get used in cooking and stay nice. I wouldn't plan on defrosting and eating raw though. Thanks for watching.
We just use them right from the freezer. My wife stuffs them frozen and we chop them up for recipes frozen. I wouldn't defrost them and expect them to be crispy like fresh peppers. Thanks for watching.
Hey new subscriber! Been gardening now and love your channel! Check mine out sir! we are gold miners. I have a huge amount of peppers and was looking to see if they can freeze well thanks. Do they get kind of mushy when thawed out? And is there a special way to thaw them out? Thanks again great looking pepper!
They do get soft if you defrost them. We usually stuff them while still frozen or just slice them up for cooking. They retain great flavor. Good luck with your mining operation. Thanks for watching
If i askd you to mail me 4 or 5 seeds of the tiny yellow and red peppers and 4 or 5 seeds of your bell pepper would you? Even if answer is no liked and subbed
I really would like to see you support Baker Creek seeds and buy some from them so they keep bringing forward new varieties like this. Here is a link and there are 10 seeds in a pack www.rareseeds.com/habanada-sweet-pepper/ . I do not save any other pepper seeds for the same reason. They have a great selection of heirloom seeds and keep bring back some of the older varieties for gardeners to try. Great company to buy seeds from. Thanks for watching.
