The clogged portion made of plastic is the DEF heater for the air pressure inlet into the metering unit. There are actually 3 or 4 possible clog points between the DEF metering unit, DEF pump module, and inside the SCR diffuser tube inside the 1-box. They got rid of this hokey Air pressure over DEF system in 2015 models. Now all you have to worry about is the DEF pump, filter, and electronic metering unit. I've never had an issue with DEF clogging in any of the lines or inside the new electronic metering unit. We typically see more issues out of excessive DEF buildup inside the 1-box because of improper temperature in the DOC and DPFs from goobers who don't get their DPF dosing injector cleaned out every 100,000 miles.
i wish people would look atit from our engineering side. the system is absolute genius. if you do an amission test on these truck you have zero polutant exhaust and thats the point. yes things fail i get its down time and loss revenue for drivers. we get that and really try to make improvements along the way some things are just unavoidable.
You did a very good job and that’s what the problem I have and I’m looking for to fix it and also you mentioned it’s a deal up but not a dealer is the Steeler you’re actually right
By the way you can get ecm tuner instead of the one he has. He has 1899$ one its nicer. Ecm tuner is 999$ has no screen you plug in and can clear codes and set tunes for fuel milage still just no fancy screens.
Great video sir! Two quick questions about the bully dog. Do you really see improvement with your fuel mileage? If my truck went into a derate would I be able to clear the code so that I could make it back home or into a shop? Thanks for your help.
Great vid! Got solid amber light on. 1st time it was my def filter, after two month's, it lit back on. Going to check that part next. I really like your bully dog unit, if you don't mind me asking, witch unit is it? And did you have to get a 9 pin to a obd2 pig tail?
Why couldn't a person disconnect DEF tank to pump/filter line and run a line to bucket of hot/warm water. Then disconnect dosor at DPF/SCR 1box. Run the quantity test with Detroit software? Cleaning entire system. The money saved on this procedure alone would pay for the software and nexiq hardware. Not counting others throughout the year. Just wondering if this is a viable solution if performed 1-2 per year.
I have 2013 cascadia dd15. Just had egr actuator replace and when def tank is full.. DEF bar is down one bar every 180miles. Any idea what could be causing that?
Provost Motorsports And the same one you are working on it I couldn’t find it I looked all around DEF tank DEF a DPF filters I couldn’t see nothing like this for freightliner Cascadia 2016 thank you
Those two pieces of aluminum are just bushing spacers for the bolts. If you use a propane torch on the aluminum body of the metering unit, you can get the metal to expand enough to knock out the aluminum bushings.
@@provostmotorsportstrucking2298 what about the eec61 code in the dd15? No derate. The maintenance and check engine light came on, but the check engine light went off immediately. I drove another 200 miles before I had to shut down.
Part of the problem with the air over DEF system they got rid of, the ammonium nitrate likes leaving ammonium nitrate salt crystals in all those small orifices where they use to get pressure out of the system.
Or you can just do it the right way and jump into detroit diagnostics and find all the issues by running and following the steps they have layed out and not have to guess. Brilliant.
