In Afghanistan the ratio was at the beginning 3 American MREs for one French MRE, then it went to 6 to one and then the French didn't want to exchange anymore, judging that the American MREs were really bad... but sometimes they gave them for free because they are nice people.
Great review brother man on the French Mre, its always exciting to watch ration reviews from any country in Europe. France, Germany and Italy are my favs
@@WearyWolfAdventuresIm looking forward to those mres bro! 😁. I haven't seen much of totally German ones. I think Schnitzel fingers, garlic butter Spaetzle, soft mini pretzels with a beer cheese packet and raspberry apple sauce would be divine as a German mre 😃
Nice that some of the components have changed slightly over the years. My favorite is #9, Pork with pineapple and Cassoulet. I bought 3 in April with 2025 dates for $45 ea from a local collector I found on MREInfo. Bought another one last month from a US source on Ebay for $50 and not too much in shipping.
That's great do you store them amd collect them... if not can I ask what you use them for... I like to take them camping or on extended fishing trips ( if not reviewing them)
Back in 2000, I worked with UNHCR in East Timor, who had been supplied French MREs for the field staff. I had numerous to eat over the 18-month tour and definitely say, great tucker. It was different in that the contents were no energy stuff.
@@WearyWolfAdventures , the main meals were along similar lines, but no prawns included. The crackers were a big packet, no fancy flavours of what I recall, but you used them for the paste jam and eating with the meals. I cooked the meals on both the French stoves from the ration and the hexi stoves from the ADF (our army Aussie). It's been a long time since I was eating the rations, and due to getting older (68 years), the menus hard to recall. That said, I definitely remember no energy stuff, but just normal chocolate and biscuits.
Taylors of Harrogate coffee bags real ground coffee in different strengths individually wrapped, bonus, if you're stationary and have time to allow it to dry out a little hygienically you can get a second full strength cup out of the same bag
Awesome review, I so love the French MRE's. But they do need to add more drinks in it. Norwegian mre's are pretty good. Dutch Arctic was the biggest I had, also very good. You talk about drinks that one has like 15 in it. I couldn't eat the fish. If it smells like fish it's not for me. Great job, can't wait to see the next!❤😎
Those French rations are awesome I was saying I’m not sure about trying the cod pate but from your enjoyment of it I want to really try it now 👍🏾 great review
Try...tipping the muesli into a bowl or cup first? Or put the packet into a cup to keep it upright? Or even...don't leave it to stand at all, just eat it after adding water; it's not going to change the consistency at all leaving it to stand. There are worse things to get annoyed over in a war situation. :-)
Love the RCIR'S. Nougat bar, not so much, LOL. Just the aroma. Good looking components, all meals. The salades, that say do not heat, I experimented on the 3-4 RCIR'S I have lucked into. Heated half the tin, ate rest room temp. To me, heated works better? Both ways are good however. Hot tea, or, mint tea, I never tried before doing reviews. I now drink as much hot tea, as I do iced. Iced is preferable in Southern U.S. One of our staples. I know most Brits, would disagree on it however, LOL. Lunch menu is the standout, agreed. All looked good though. Glad you enjoyed. Peace, John.
I buy these regularly for hiking trips , they never disappoint. Unfortunately the biscuits get rancid after a relatively short time and then they are disgusting, fresh ones taste great... in general really good rations
the reason that packaging is like that is how its made. two flat pieces come together with a hot rotating guillotine first closing the bottom, then the digitally metered filling happens, then another rotating hot knife cuts and melts the top closed. there are machines that can do that thousands of times a minute. take a close look at the top and bottom of the next bag of crisps you eat. thats a melted seal, top and bottom, ;)
The second main (Salade de pâtes au saumon) should be eaten cold. The word Salade means the same in English without the 'e'. But It pasta and salmon, so I guess hot is okay.
Thanks for the info I did look it up and found it was often eaten cold as most salads are.... but it eas honestly delicious heated up 😋 well worth a try hot 🔥 thank you for checking out my video and for leaving a comment I really appreciate it
@@WearyWolfAdventures I love doing similar with American oatmeal in civilian life, instantly flashed to doing it with this ration too. French rations actually look delicious.
Oh be sure to crush up the chocolate or you will sit and wait til you can fully drink the music before it melts lol. Dark chocolate is much more resistant to melting than milk chocolate. It's basically a pile of chocolate fat molecules 😂
That's not a lot for 24 hours, especially when you consider service personnel burn crazy amounts of calories on operations. Honestly, I'm not gonna lie but I was expecting better from a French ration probably due to the stellar reputation of French cuisine but I'm probably being way too unrealistic to be fair.
I think they bring quality over quantity.... but you right! compared to the British mre you don't get alot... I think drinks are important when you have high demand and stress ok the body to keep rehydrated
