The more of your videos I see the more I enjoy both them and you, and I would very much like to see any historical contributions you have time to produce. You must be such a fun person to spend time with and I love kitty's special door. Treasure hunting from thrift stores is a great enjoyment, here in New Zealand we call them Op Shops, however it is rare to find a real treasure. Thank you so much for your presentations, and the love and attention you and your husband put into your home.

Oh my dear, I love your videos! You are so creative ! I have mice atop my grandfather clock , a brass one and a black iron one. They are the mice that ran up the clock in hickory dickory dock. And inside the clear glass bottom door behind the brass weights stand two large wooden nutcracker guards yep, they are there to guard the clock! We all need whimsy in our lives because we should never completely grow up. Some light humor in our lives help to keep us grounded. Love your channel and anxiously await your next One! I love whimsy too, and like you, I collect what makes me smile. I have a large collection of anthropomorphic fruit and vegetable salt & pepper shakers from the 1930's and 1940's in the kitchen; vintage hand painted ceramic bunnies in random places; an old ceramic duck peeking out from between plants on a windowsill; my vintage bluebird collection (to symbolize happiness!); and so many other things. They make me happy to look at them, and I know when others visit my little cottage, they enjoy them too because they're so unexpected! Thank you for showing us your unexpected touches of whimsy -- and it was a joy to again see the table you painted. It's very well done and looks professional! If that was your first foray into painting since childhood, maybe you were meant to be an artist!
I love the bookshelf doors. I have lots of whimsy in my home, too. I have a 2 1/2 foot tall leather covered moose on a shelf surrounded by tiny woodland animals and my husband's carved bears. I also have several moose scattered throughout the house including a clear acrylic one that I found in the Christmas clearance at K-mart years ago. In the living room I have an outdoor 'crystal' and brass sconce that looks as if it came from a french cafe. My dining room chandelier is an iron birdcage filled with hanging crystals. I have many small white stuffed animals (some antique) sitting on an old Jenny Lind highchair and others posed under a white battenburg lace umbrella inside my china cabinet. All that may be a little too much whimsy but the whole house is filled with it. Call me quirky. Thanks for the lesson. I did enjoy it. Your home is beautiful.
Love hearing about your whimsy! When my father started having grandchildren, he became a compulsive stuffed animal collector. Some for the kids, but a surprising number for himself. It was fun to see him shift from professional businessman to silly grandfather! Can there be too much happiness in a home???
OK ... just saw a set of owl salt and pepper shakers at the Dollar Tree. I don't usually decorate with owls.. but you know I am going to get them and paint them ala MacKenzie Childs.... What have I got to lose? What a fun project. I love all your content and look forward to seeing your home and decor and inspiration .

I loved this video so much. The best examples of whimsy in my house would be 1. I have two miniature paintings depicting my parents' two birthplaces. I've added a tiny 30's era toy car sitting on the top of each frame, as if the car is driving to the house. And 2. - I have a large bust of Beethoven in the living room - and for the last two years he's been wearing a covid face mask covered with musical notes. I love your dungeon doors. And is that your cuckoo clock? It's identical to the one I have, which I bought almost 50 years ago. Thanks for another great video!

I built my dark academia library in a 7 foot tall wardrobe, you have to go thru the wardrobe of faux fur thru a door, and your in a wall to wall bookcases ,deep sofa ,and fireplace…my get away.
I would love to learn the differences between the styles and how to incorporate them into a home without making it feel like a museum. Or how to mix styles without looking weird.
